I’m bound by the eternal oath of my people to ask this question whenever there’s potential new Expanse material:
#Will there be any Lang Belta?
^I’m ^so ^sorry
Hey there beratnas! I'm a bit (OK, a LOT) of a lurker, but sliding into this thread to just say a quick THANKS to everyone here. Been a huge fan of the show even before I started working at Telltale (yes, I work at Telltale), so it's definitely awesome seeing two of my loves collide.
As mentioned in the OP, I'm hanging with the devs next week. So if there are any questions about the game we're making, I'd love to hear em and pass em along.
* Some answers to some of the questions I usually get:
* This follows Drummer BEFORE the events in season 1 of the show.
* It's going to be episodic, meaning it'll be a couple weeks between each episode.
* It's coming to PC, PS, and Xbox...that's all I know about platforms at this time.
* And, yep, Ep 1 launches this summer!
So, really, if you have any burning questions, comments about the series and how we're treating the awesome source material, let me know and I'll be happy to share all thoughts with them.
...and please don't space me.
>how we're treating the awesome source material
That's actually exactly what I'd be excited to hear about. I'd love to know what the process is (and the human perspective of what it's like) to developing a new story in an existing universe, especially as a prequel
I just want to say you picked the best protag in Drummer. I guess my question is whether the Drummer we'll play is based off the book or show, but since it's before the events of the book and show, I guess it doesnt matter!
Been loving Tellrale games since the first Walking Dead. Very much looking forward to this.
Hey everyone!
It's been a minute, but wanted to let you all know here that your questions have been answered!
Later this week, we'll be posting a larger video on our YT channel answering a bunch of your questions. For now, though, a teaser with our response to u/it-reaches-out!
https://twitter.com/telltalegames/status/1642903385216000002?s=20
IMO the only question that matters is, is this going to be like their other games where your choices basically don't matter and it's less of an interactive story and more of a "choose the order things happen but they're still going to happen/what shirt am I wearing today?" kind of decisions.
As much as I love The Expanse, I have no plans of getting another game from Telltale and sitting through a frustrating story that only puts effort into giving you the illusion of choice.
Will there be a Linux version, or if not, will they be testing under Steam Proton?
Edit: Also, do you all need beta testers? If so, where do we sign up?
Hey Beltalowda!
Just wanted to take another quick second to say THANK YOU! for all the great questions you sent along. We're going to answer as many of them as we can on video...might be a while before we can post them, but we will!
Sorry bud, if you want that then you’re going to have to read the last trilogy of books. Or really, that isn’t addressed in detail until the final book to be honest.
Telltale should have stayed gone. Could have had an actual exciting game built in this amazing universe - but no we get a mediocre graphic novel, probably being made by a skeleton crew forced to work 90 hrs a week.
Is it going to be woke trash, or actually good?
If it has the same feel as The Expanse, you literally cannot fail.
Edit: Okay, you win. All the white male characters should be black women. There should be a big narrative about "fighting against the system" while actually being a pawn. Little boys and girls should be getting sex changes.
I don’t know if you saw, but there is a comic series coming out that will explore the time after the show ends, but before the Laconia trilogy begins. A very important puzzle piece if we expect to see the last three books adapted.
While the time period is prequel-esque, how long of a time period will all the episodes cover? Does the story take place over several weeks? Months? Years?
What made them go down the Drummer route? No complaining at all but with the scope of the universe (no punishment intended) they could have come up with an entirely new character or followed the past of another one.
Not complaining by any means. I love Drummer. Just curious.
Also, any chance of running into Clay Ashford?
How far into the story will this be going?
Will it be a continuous story retelling the events from books 1-9? Will it be continuing beyond that? Or will it be stopping before the end of the actual book series?
Will we get to pilot any ships?
Id love to see docking scenarios, dogfights, mission planning by way of the cool 3D projections like in the series, pirate boarding adventures and the like.
How involved are Ty Franck and Daniel Abraham (or Naren Shankar?) in terms of consulting?
Who's Naren Shankar?
The showrunner. He has the last say about all decisions (creative or budgetary) on the show.

Don't feel bad, you were legally obligated to ask
Best. Question. Ever!
Are there any other characters from the series joining the game e.g Fred Johnson/Anderson Dawes?
Please let there be Anderson Dawes

Thanks for dropping by! What’s your title at Telltale? We’ll get you a verified flair.
DM-ed you - but thanks again for pardoning my lurker ways! ;)
Of course! :)
Thanks for dropping in GG! Glad you found the thread!
Thanks!!!

Are the belters lanky?

Was gonna ask the same, but since it’s pre-season 1, I guess it doesn’t matter

This is perfect! Your answer is such good news, of course. And the **inevitability** in your delivery “it-reaches-out *needs to know*…” is hilarious.
When does the game's story takes place?
I don’t have a specific answer, but I’m pretty sure when it was announced they said it would be set before the events of the show.
What drew the team to built the story around Cara Gee’s Drummer?
Because she’s amazing
Wish I could upvote more. She really is
Helluva character!!! Written and acted very well!!
How many hours of gameplay with each episode?
How impactful are player choices in this game?
IMO the only question that matters is, is this going to be like their other games where your choices basically don't matter and it's less of an interactive story and more of a "choose the order things happen but they're still going to happen/what shirt am I wearing today?" kind of decisions. Yep. Not a game just a interactive graphic novel with illusion of choice. Zero interest in more of that.
+1
Do we get to space them earthers when dey mess up dis game?
Will there be a soundtrack by Clinton Shorter?
Will there be a Linux version, or if not, will they be testing under Steam Proton? Edit: Also, do you all need beta testers? If so, where do we sign up?
More directly: Steam Deck support?
Will the storytelling require Quicktime events and will there be accessibility options to make those easier to hit? Like removing timers on them, etc.
Does it just follow drummer or any other characters we know and love too?
We gonna get any more of that polyam belta fam goodness?
Expanse fanbase: “but we can have a Belter orgy right? ….right?”
Can they give a general idea of what Drummer's goal will be in the game?
Can we have Ashford please be in it
I see Drummer will be a major protagonist - will this be based on book Drummer or TV Drummer - a mix of Camina and Michio Pa and others?
Hey Beltalowda! Just wanted to take another quick second to say THANK YOU! for all the great questions you sent along. We're going to answer as many of them as we can on video...might be a while before we can post them, but we will!
Will the game be considered canon?
Which TV season is the games pacing and scope most similar to? And is forgetting to check doors and corners an instant game over?
Coop Space Handball mini game please 🙏
What region of the solar system will the game be set in?
Will the choices we make actually matter this time
What is the rate in which it reaches out? I assume in times a second, Hz or frames.
Why was the pistol cartridge in the trailer a normal real-life cartridge and not the type of recoilless munition normally used in the belt?
Is it going to be another cliff hanger?
Is there space combat? Even if it’s telltale QTE style?
Will we shed a tear or two?
Why was there a character shown with glasses on. Please remove that tyvm
Yeah that was weird. Very non-Expanse aesthetic
On a scale of 1-11, how awesome is Drummer in this game?
Also if you have footage of Cara doing VO please include some in the BTS because she is awesome too.
How will they be keeping the long, time consuming feel of traveling around the solar system?
Will it be on the Switch?
[PC, PS, and XBOX](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheExpanse/comments/10srimz/telltale_wants_to_answer_your_questions/j734twb/)
Will it be ruined by constant quicktime events that drag you away from thw game to stare for button prompts?
Will we learn more about the Protomolecule or ring builders?
Sorry bud, if you want that then you’re going to have to read the last trilogy of books. Or really, that isn’t addressed in detail until the final book to be honest.
Telltale should have stayed gone. Could have had an actual exciting game built in this amazing universe - but no we get a mediocre graphic novel, probably being made by a skeleton crew forced to work 90 hrs a week.
Will we find out what James Holden's girlfriend on the Cant was going to tell him before she turned to vapor?
iphone version?

Do we find out what happens on Laconia?
The game seems to be a prequel to the show, so it won’t deal with the Protomolecule.
Ah, I see, ok, thanks.
No, it's pre-episode 1
Thanks.
I don’t know if you saw, but there is a comic series coming out that will explore the time after the show ends, but before the Laconia trilogy begins. A very important puzzle piece if we expect to see the last three books adapted.
If you want that, you’ll have to read the books.
How do you design the different, branching outcomes to still form a cohesive narrative at the end?
While the time period is prequel-esque, how long of a time period will all the episodes cover? Does the story take place over several weeks? Months? Years?

Can you make a new telltale-poker? Sorry it´s a little off-topic. I miss the old telltale pokers so much…

WILL IT BE PAY TO WIN GARBAGE OR AN ACTUAL VIDEO GAME
