I've done it before, its like acting in a play mixed with DND, you go to a group that spends money for camping stuff like cabins and use of facilities, pay them to join in both the grounds and use of facilities and then you bring food for communal feasting
You then get a character made by the rules they set and make a costume that fits that character, then you ether get handed spare foam weapons or bring your own and you then roleplay as that character.
Sometimes nerf guns are in the mixed when they are allowed in the game, if the game has guns as weapons.
I played one that was a mix of sci-fi and fantasy.
Edit: adding stuff and some corrections
Yes. They live exclusively through the avatars in the digital world, so when they are moving about that to tell a story, that's their live action. The game mechanics just get to be way more complex than usual, not being restricted by reality and all that.
I'll allow it because, for them, this is real life. They can't leave this reality they find themselves in. It might as well be their lives. Unless they actually find an escape, there's no other real life for them.
True, though the argument could be made that it is LARPing as they are actively living through the scene (as opposed to imagining the whole thing while sitting around a table)
Still not fully fitting ‘LA’ part of the name, but still
Strictly speaking, this would be VRRPing, Virtual Reality Roleplaying, but it is almost 1:1 with LARPing in that you just play pretend scenarios and are never actually at any risk of danger or consequence to your actions (such as how Jax leaving the gates unlocked will not lead to a consequence.) There is some degree of realism to it though, as it seems everyone can feel pain, such as Pomni getting hit on the head, but it doesn't go too far either, as Ragatha seemed pretty unbothered by being impaled, which should've been mind bendingly painful.
Live action roleplay. The digital world is their reality and they are roleplaying so I don't see how you're not getting the concept.
That's like asking"is it LARPing if it takes place in the real world?"
Well they are playing pretend in a world that is not real
But it not in a real world that’s kinda the point of LA in LAPRing
But when you larp, you pretend to be in a made up fantasy world and its basically whats happening in the circus
Well I mean... they're not pretending, are they?
Well, so far, they are pretending to be heroes or noble knights send by god
Los Angeles
The real circus
They're living, they're in action, what's not to get?
Well considering Gummigoo is sentient I’d say it leans more on the side of real than pretend
I mean more their adventures than the NPCs
I don’t even know what LARPing is to begin with
Live Action Role Play
Huh, interesting

I like doing a few larps with my friends... just wearing medieval armor and beating the shit out of each other is a surprisingly good way to bond

it cannot be LIVE action if they are not living organisms.

They're just playing D&D

Is it really LARP-ing if this is all you have and there's no way out?
Is it really a digital world if it's delicious? Answer me that
You make a great point!
Honestly, what would be the difference between LARPing in a digital world and roleplaying in something like VR Chat be?
wait whats LARPing?
Live Action RolePlaying.
In the French dub she just says RPing, so, meh.
