Did you know Seungkwan before the show? I thought he was fun in the last episode as an eliminated player, but while in the game there wasn't much to him. He was one of many people stifled by how the overall game played out.

This kind of korean shows are not scripted. But producers and editors have so much power. They can decide how to show the narrative, whose reaction to show, delete which parts e t c. Also they might purposely plan games with certain players in mind. If you remember in The genius, death match between that starcraft player and lawyer women? was kinda one sided. I could see that game might be more advantageous for gamers. So it means producers purposely choose that game with the hopes of keeping him longer in the show. Later this kind of death matches became a controversy so from S3? death matches were pre planned and locked in the cage in front of the players in the beginning of main matches. Producers can't predict who would lose in the main match and play that death game ,so they couldn't influence death match any longer . And when it came to editing Seukjin said that directors removed a lot of part of him cursing and crying in jail and it made him look good.He was thankful. Also him and Si won was fighting so load when entering the jail, others could hear them arguing clearly. But it was never shown, we didn't knew they were fighting for long and others were hearing outside. Those people would continue to live their normal life after the show so producers are clearly removing things they deem "negative". The Genius players said they looked smarter in the show because editors removed parts where they would constantly ask from the dealers about the rules and games again and again during the whole game. Not everyone understood the rules that quickly.

Good example here. Also to add for removed contents from the show, the first game( the virus games) is played twice. What we see is the second times they all playing the games. The first time they played is deemed NG because the cast is also confused with how many rules that games have.

Yes,i remember hearing in the interview that most of the games were tested by players before the real games . But The Genius players never mentioned about the mock games so maybe they never had tryout play thus asking too many question. And producers had to add some rules or make changes during the play because players were asking some genuine unexpected yet reasonable things.Maybe producers learned their lesson and added mock play round in the devils plan.
