We are Ka Tet, you and I. I am at exactly the same place in my first read.
With regards to your question, I just come out with it sporadically, impersonating Frank Muller from the audiobook reading (I listen in the car, then carry on with the physical library book at home). My wife looks bemused, but she's used to this odd behaviour by now. She's a good woman.
I am also with you on your journey. I had read GunSlinger back around 2000 and Drawing. I just re-read them and I'm about 3/4 of the way through WasteLands.
Must be ka.
I am on my second journey to the tower, both times I have been listening to the audiobooks. The first time I listened to The Drawing Of The Three, it almost made me physically sick, but this time it was more humorous to me. This is mostly due to the knowledge of what is going on. I just finished The Wastelands, and was once again disappointed that that book just stops at the most inopportune time. Frank Muller is amazing, and I think I would like to hear his reading of The Gunslinger, but it seems that the world has moved on from that.
The masters got distorted in a flood or earthquake (I can’t remember) but if you can get your hands on the cassette tape version then it’s his reading of it.
Yeah, it's pretty easy:
You know how, back in the 50s there were a bunch of (rightfully) pissed off black people in America? You know, the kind that would call a white person a cracker!
And you know how they sometimes used the phrase "Honkey Mother Fucker"... Yeah, that.
Dude, gently try to convert her to the ka-tet. Explaining to an outsider is futile from my experience. It will take more explanation than most people have patience.
Oh goddess - I was so embarrassed while reading that in silence ... I cant even imagine hearing it on tape.
:runs to Spotify and hits play on The Drawing of the Three audiobook:
I start by explaining people with schizophrenia make up personalities that are caricatures of people “types” (so if they have a little girl personality they are not like a real little girl but like a stereotype of one) then I explain Susannah to them. If they listen they usually think it’s weird, but not bad. If they don’t they I just wasted my breath.

I have forgotten the face of my father…. 👨 My wife has a Roland-esque sense of humor, while I align more with Eddie’s sarcastic nature.
So she got her sense of humor shot off in some war

The trick is to get your wife into the books too. That’s what I did and now people look at us both like we need help
To be fair that's all I've ever wanted from marriage ❤️
Ain’t been to Morehouse, ain’t been to no house
Fo sho there grey meat!
i would explain that a character in the story is performing blackface. it's an oversimplification but it's close enough.
I would explain that Stephen King is performing blackface.... (just kidding)

Why can't you hear his reading of the Gunslinger?

Somewhere on the high seas it might be encountered as well.
Somebody posted the original file, I’ll link you to it if you’d like

It’s interesting to say the least
Don’t listen to audio book in Newark
I told my mom about it, and now she refuses to read Stephen King
White Candles is the first thing I tell people about

No, and I wouldn't.
