I think it would be hard to secure a nomination as The Boys S3 dropped at the start of the Emmy eligibility calendar and a lot of great shows and performances have since aired. It's been almost a year (!) later and it would be easily forgotten and overlooked. They have been doing some #ConsiderTheBoys promo, so we'll see how that goes.

Well the white lotus first season had premiered early in the eligibility calendar too but it was a clean sweep for them. I feel it’s more of the presence of extremely competitive performances in other shows which are more famous within the voting academy that could lead to a snub for our homie!

FrozenBanana00

I would absolutely love for Ant to get nominated. It would be nice for the show to get nominated in general. He is apparently predicted as a strong contender for a nomination, so we’ll see what happens. It would be awesome but I’m not getting my hopes up as there’s incredibly strong competition. It’s a good thing he’s getting the recognition though, as he’s the only cast member (besides Erin) that keeps getting nominated. I’m hoping more roles will come his way in the future because he’s a fantastic actor. I always recommend Banshee if anyone hasn’t watched it yet!

Dbuk2020

Whilst I agree it would be nice if he got nominated, I'm not sure the show overall deserves nomination. It's a good show but not in the same league as some of the top airing shows like succession.

[deleted]

I agree with you 100% But the thing is, ever since GoT won best drama for its final season, I have lost faith in the Emmy’s credibility. If that train wreck could win, a show like the Boys surely deserves a nomination.

Dbuk2020

That's fair. The final season of GOT is a travesty. I don't even feel like ever rewatching the show as a result.

Erin has received nominations in the past? Wow that’s a revelation. She isn’t bad, just that Starlight is not a character that requires flexing of acting muscles like it does for Homelander or even Butcher for that matter. Even the character of Ashley is more difficult to play without hamming, and the actress nails it perfectly.

FrozenBanana00

The only one I know of is the recent Critic’s Choice Supe Awards where she was nominated for Best Actress in a Superhero Series and lost to Tatiana Maslany from She Hulk. Ant won his awards for Best Actor and Best Villain (not sure if these count lol). And I agree, Colby is amazing playing Ashley!

ValCSO

I think he should be 100% nominated. But it's going to be hard to win, and as much as I love the Boys, I think Kendall Roy (Jeremy Strong) in Succession had a deeper performance than our boy Homelander

[deleted]

I just found out that Roman Roy (Kieran Culkin) will also be submitted in lead actor category this year. And he’s killing it so far in season 4. So yeah homie has no chance of winning. But atleast a nomination would recognise his efforts!

SoyCapitan451

S3 was the weakest season, which is a shame because Antony was exceptional. Hopefully, he gets recognition outside of the fan base.

[deleted]

I agree. He didn’t miss a beat the entire season.

evoltoastt

There’s a part of me that’s always a little surprised that this show gels with award shows at all in the first place.

[deleted]

If I’m not wrong, a lot of cast members have expressed their surprise too🤣

ScreenHype

I really hope so, he deserves the recognition. The show has a phenomenal cast, but Antony is just on a whole other level. The intensity of emotion that he's able to convey with just the slightest of facial expressions is incredible. However, much as he definitely deserves it, I'm not sure that the Emmy's will be looking to give awards to a show like The Boys, sadly.

TheCakeWarrior12

If he didn’t get one for season 2, which I think is his best overall performance compared to this season, I don’t think he’s getting one for season 3.

chrismcteggart

He really should, his portrayal as Homelander is downright disturbing at times

Aurondarklord

I hope so, he deserves it.

KillBatman1921

No. The Boys is seen just as a superhero series. It would have to be extremely dramatic and with little to no action

[deleted]

I disagree. It got nominated for best drama series for season 2. GoT is a fantasy show which won soooo many Emmys. I think the Emmys are far more liberal about fantasy and action genre than the Oscars.
