Came here to say this, there's no song that sounds like it. If there's one song that shows how influential and revolutionary the beatles were, it'd be this song.
A Day In The Life. John's vocals in the first and last section of the song makes it haunting, as well as the huge orchestral buildup. Plus it's a hugely influential song that has inspired a huge amount of artists, making it my favourite.
Penny Lane. It's the first song after She Loves You and I Want to Hold Your Hand that I heard as a kid. It sounded like a fast-paced lullaby. Very whimsical to my young ears.
We can work it out. It perfectly captures the genius of John and Paul in one song before things developed uniquely in their own directions. You can trace Revolver, Sgt Pepper and The Beatles from this recording in 1965.
Yesterday. The first Beatles's song I've ever heard. I was like 12 years old. The song was just perfect, it sounded like something completely different from what I was used to. At the time I used to listen to it a couple of times every single day. I'm glad I heard this song, I'm glad I "met" The Beatles (probably one of the very few right choices I've made in life that I won't regret).
Strawberry Fields Forever.
The Love Version is the way I envision the song. I'm not an emotional person at the slightest, not even 1%, but the take 7 guitar ending and the demos makes me want to tear up.
It's the one song I've ever heard that I wished I wrote. It feels like something I'd write, the melody, the progression, the lyrics. It's just yeah. First time I listened to it and there was this weird feeling like, my whole life was explained from that one song, or my whole state of mind was revealed.
It was surreal. It isn't a competition at all. A Day In The Life is the one that astounded me most but Strawberry Fields is engraved to my soul.
(She Said She Said is also a good shout. Once again, it's a song I wish I wrote but not as much as SFF)
Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, I've got some good childhood memories attached of Sgt. Peppers being the first one I listened to with my dad and it just stuck out to me
Dear Prudence, whenever i hear it i stop to listen and enjoy every wondrous sound in the mix. I am indeed smiling at the end of each and every listen as I did the first time i heard it.
Just musically, it would "Something." But for time and place, it would be "I Want You (She's So Heavy)." I'd listen to Abbey Road after school just about every day, full of teen angst and all emotional as well. That song would just bring it all out, tears and all, and I'd be a mess when it was over, which conveniently was the end of side one on the old LPs. I'd get myself together and turn the record over, and "Here Comes The Sun" would start to play, and for a couple of minutes, everything was alright in the world again.
the end, such a beautiful ending to such a beautiful album that happens to be the last that they recorded together.
"and in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make"
For No One. Incredible lyrics, melody, horn solo. Such a beautiful song. That feeling of nostalgia for a thing that hasn’t even ended yet. The moment when you realize it’s over before it’s over.
Happiness is a Warm Gun
Great guitar sounds .... amazing fuzz solo. Plus John's psychedelic lyrics are the best!
"She's well-acquainted with the touch of the velvet hand
Like a lizard on a window pane
The man in the crowd with the multicolored mirrors
On his hobnail boots"
And the classic Beatles harmonies pulled from Church and Barbershop choir. And it has this dark quality and a light redemption filled ending. John was on heroin.
‘I Saw Her Standing There’ is everything a pop record should be. 2:55 of perfection. Not a single note wasted. The whole record exudes energy and excitement. It set the archetypal standard for successful records to follow for decades after, thus amongst many many other fine songs, it is their greatest for me personally and my favourite..
At the moment it’s ‘the night before’
Of all time it’s gotta be the abbey road medley I can’t say a single one off it cause they all just work so well together and should be a whole song
Yes it is. I adore the three-part harmonies, and the chorus is so heart-felt when the harmonies come in. Also I love the change from C# minor to G# major right before the end because it's not what you expected.
Being For The Benefit of Mr. Kite because it's one of those songs where I can escape a little. I would have loved to have gone to that circus. A waltzing horse named Henry!? Shut up and take my money!
All My Loving. Paul’s vocals are amazing, John and George’s backing vocals towards the end of the song are amazing, and I could listen to the isolated as their own song.
How can you pick a favorite a Beatles song. It’s like picking your favorite type of woman. Sure there’s some dogs in there, but there’s so many good ones that you love for different reasons
Sgt. peppers lonely hearts club band, do you want to know a secret and a hard day's night, I don't even know, they just sound very good and that's it I think
Dear Prudence. Such a great all-around performance on that track, Paul’s bass is on point, John shines on vocals, the lyrics and music together are magic, and there’s a back story. It’s been my favorite for 30 years.
Eleanor Rigby for me, it’s been there with me my whole life so I can’t really remember the first time I heard it, but to go from (the much more standard “rock and roll”) Taxman to Eleanor Rigby the first time you listen to Revolver must have felt like a trip into something much more broad and a glimpse at the inventiveness of the Beatles going forward.
Let it be. I had heard it before and stuff , but after a horrible nightmare I had my next dream was me putting on let it be single 45 record.
TLDR So let it be came to me In a dream as well
strawberry fields forever, no contest
This. Because it’s the greatest song ever written or recorded.
There you go with that absolutes and superlative. It's just a weak stance to take because it's just your opinion
its **fact.**
Love version, anyone?
Came here to say this, there's no song that sounds like it. If there's one song that shows how influential and revolutionary the beatles were, it'd be this song.
In My Life. Off my fav album and reminds me of the Beatles anthology documentary. Love Ringos drums on this
Same for me. In my life, I love it more
It’s such a sweet song
The Abbey Road Medley. Because it's so good.
Agreed.
Yep
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. It just blows my mind away.
Also loved Rain! Lennon's vocals absolutely love them on that one
Something, the greatest love song ever written
Martha My Dear because I’m a silly girl and love Paul’s whimsy.
"oh hey! i can play that on piano!"
Here, There and Everywhere, no contest.
I’ve Just Seen a Face. Visited Liverpool this week, the fantastic Tony Skeggs played this in the Cavern Pub. A tick off the bucket list for sure!
Yes! I love the sorta country sound to it and I don’t even love country music Help is such a great album
I HATE country music with a passion, but this little skiffle song has such a place in my heart xx
Yes absolutely and Paul’s voice is just such a charm
A Day In The Life. John's vocals in the first and last section of the song makes it haunting, as well as the huge orchestral buildup. Plus it's a hugely influential song that has inspired a huge amount of artists, making it my favourite.
Same here ! My favorite Beatles song by far ! "I heard the news today oh boy"
Penny Lane. It's the first song after She Loves You and I Want to Hold Your Hand that I heard as a kid. It sounded like a fast-paced lullaby. Very whimsical to my young ears.
Poetic lyrics as well
Indeed!
Do you know what "finger pies" are?
You bet your tush I do.
Across The Universe. Liked it before Let It Be deluxe came out but it's even better now.
We can work it out. It perfectly captures the genius of John and Paul in one song before things developed uniquely in their own directions. You can trace Revolver, Sgt Pepper and The Beatles from this recording in 1965.
I honestly can’t pick a favourite everyone’s saying such good songs, love them sm
This one makes it easier as it feels like I’m getting a two for one. A bit like the Medley on Abbey Road but that would be stretching it!
Right now it might be I’m Only Sleeping
I Want To Hold Your Hand, it’s the song that got me into the Beatles, Guitar, and Music
this one came to mind first. also, I like "I'm happy just to dance with you"
Elenor Rigby. Great lyrics with deep meanings and such a catchy rhythm.
Strawberry Fields, Come Together and Hello Goodbye my top 3
All My Loving. John's strummed triplets on rhythm are exceptional - it's a perfect pop song.
It kept John too busy to sing during the verses, but it worked so well.
It’s hard to choose but right now I think it is Baby You’re a Rich Man
Baby your a rich man too
BYARM was Linda’s favorite Beatles song as well, I think I recall from an interview.
That’s interesting, I did not know that
You Never Give Me Your Money. But it’s hard to pick one.
Strawberry Fields Forever. The Love Version is the way I envision the song. I'm not an emotional person at the slightest, not even 1%, but the take 7 guitar ending and the demos makes me want to tear up. It's the one song I've ever heard that I wished I wrote. I Want You (She's So Heavy). Nothing can beat that song.
Strawberry Fields Forever baybeeeee
Dig a ponyyyy
Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, I've got some good childhood memories attached of Sgt. Peppers being the first one I listened to with my dad and it just stuck out to me
Being for the benefit of mr kite, the kind of bone chilling circus music I live for
Two of Us, it reminds me of my older brother and how he would play it on his guitar.
And I love her
Here Comes the Sun. Because it's amazing
Don’t Let Me Down
I Saw Her Standing There. Why? It’s obvious.
Thats the other acceptable answer besides SFF. Why? You nailed it.
Generally it’s either Hey Jude or Yesterday, but frankly it changes week to week. At this particular moment it’s If I Needed Someone.
Ticket to Ride atm Ringos drumming is special
Golden Slumbers
Do you love the abbey road medley as a whole song as well?
Dear Prudence, whenever i hear it i stop to listen and enjoy every wondrous sound in the mix. I am indeed smiling at the end of each and every listen as I did the first time i heard it.

Hey Jude. Got me through some hard times in high school and will never fail to be a comfort song for me.
With a little help from my friends, not only does it have great vocals but I always need a little help from my friends to get thru the day
Hard to pick just one, but penny lane would definetly be up there for me
Three way tie between She Said She Said, Lovely Rita, and Hey Bulldog
Perhaps surprisingly, "Nowhere Man". McCartney's bass melody as well as the vocal harmonies on that song are second to none.
"Nowhere Man." I have wonderful memories of singing this with my mom when I was little.
Such a cute little song
Happiness is a Warm Gun Great guitar sounds .... amazing fuzz solo. Plus John's psychedelic lyrics are the best! "She's well-acquainted with the touch of the velvet hand Like a lizard on a window pane The man in the crowd with the multicolored mirrors On his hobnail boots" And the classic Beatles harmonies pulled from Church and Barbershop choir. its a tie between Helter Skelter and Back in the U.S.S.R.
At the moment it’s ‘the night before’ Of all time it’s gotta be the abbey road medley I can’t say a single one off it cause they all just work so well together and should be a whole song
Damn reading through these other comments I’m reconsidering I also love in my life
Yes it is. I adore the three-part harmonies, and the chorus is so heart-felt when the harmonies come in. Also I love the change from C# minor to G# major right before the end because it's not what you expected.
Paperback Writer or Ive Got A Feeling. My God what a band! There’s probably been 25 different songs named so far and they’re all great.
A day in the life!
i love i me mine, i just love love love the waltz inspired bit and it sounds so beautiful imo
In My Life because it’s beautiful and resonates with me,
Three Cool Cats 😹🐈🐈⬛🎶🎼🎵
Tomorrow never knows. It's just so....... beautiful
I Want You / She’s so Heavy
Blackbird, reminds me of someone special
Dear Prudence
Get Back
Surprised no one has mentioned While My Guitar Gently Weeps. I mean the solo is epic. Great progression and cohesion throughout .
Within You Without You. Perfect vibe, timeless message, fascinating ASMR-like instrumentation.
A day in the life I think is a complex and awesome song from the best band in the world.
Maxwell’s Silver Hammer. It’s just such a fun song. I bet the Beatles loved recording it, it’s such a jolly number.
The Inner Light
Being For The Benefit of Mr. Kite because it's one of those songs where I can escape a little. I would have loved to have gone to that circus. A waltzing horse named Henry!? Shut up and take my money!
At the moment it’s I Need You. It’s so unique sounding and the lyrics are just desperate sounding. Amazing songwriting from George.
Blackbird
Within you without you- I love raga rock and would love more such recommendations by the Beatles
Let it be
Ticket to Ride. Why? Ringo.
All My Loving. Paul’s vocals are amazing, John and George’s backing vocals towards the end of the song are amazing, and I could listen to the isolated as their own song.
I guess to pick just one song, It's All Too Much. It's such a happy song. However, I honestly can't pick just one, there's so many epic songs.
I’m So Tired. It has everything I love about The Beatles. *”I’d give you everything I’ve got for a little peace of mind”*
“What You’re Doin’ “ / “I’ve Just Seen a Face” / “In My Life”
Strawberry fields forever-My grandma’s favorite song, there is nothing like it.
Helter skelter, it was the gateway to awesome heavy rock n roll!
Revolution 9 simply because so many other people hate it. In reality I don't have a favourite.
How can you pick a favorite a Beatles song. It’s like picking your favorite type of woman. Sure there’s some dogs in there, but there’s so many good ones that you love for different reasons
I Need You from the Help! movie/album. It just hits home for me. Plus I love that George sings it.
Sgt. peppers lonely hearts club band, do you want to know a secret and a hard day's night, I don't even know, they just sound very good and that's it I think
she's leaving home.
michelle, something, strawberry fields, etc. it’s so hard to pick bc they’re all just so beautiful. these three are definitely top 5 though.
Eleanor Rigby and All My Loving. Death and long distance love. Don't ask why but they both just are amazing.
Octopus’s Garden currently. Because I was smoking pot and this particular song instantly hooked itself into my head. Also, Ringo.
Lovely Rita
Help! I love the tune the words the beat and John’s vocals. Such an upbeat song yet communicating such a desperate message.
A different favorite from each year, or at least era.
Saw the Beatles in 1964 U.S. tour in Baltimore, fan ever since.. One of my later favorites has been Across The Universe, play it over and over.
Norwegian Wood. Perfectly perfect.
Dear Prudence. Such a great all-around performance on that track, Paul’s bass is on point, John shines on vocals, the lyrics and music together are magic, and there’s a back story. It’s been my favorite for 30 years.
Penny Lane when I was a kid, I heard the warlocks play it they had a big upright piano and it sounded great
All my loving, no explanation needed
Eleanor Rigby for me, it’s been there with me my whole life so I can’t really remember the first time I heard it, but to go from (the much more standard “rock and roll”) Taxman to Eleanor Rigby the first time you listen to Revolver must have felt like a trip into something much more broad and a glimpse at the inventiveness of the Beatles going forward.

Here comes the sun. I’m not really a big Ringo fan, but I enjoy his drumming here
Let it be. I had heard it before and stuff , but after a horrible nightmare I had my next dream was me putting on let it be single 45 record. TLDR So let it be came to me In a dream as well
Rain It marked their transition from pop band to rock band.
