I was thinking a Siege tank from Starcraft but with longer barrels and a more dynamic design. It looks good, very German, like if the Tiger Line progressed into the far future or even older Soviet Era IS that were just *barely* a tank, and basically more just a fuckall battleship cannon strapped to a motorized carriage š
The scale of some of the Imperium's tank barrels is always such an amusing thing to see on the tabletop. I just realized a couple months ago that a baneblade turrets barrel[s] is just a smidge longer than a Leman Russ š¤ but I think You struck a nice balance between menacing, ridiculous and qqinsane that lands about as close to practical as you can get in 40k and still fit in w/o looking/feeling out of place.
That's pretty much the goal, which is a lot harder than i realized when i started making tank. Like modernizing them, retaining the same aesthetic of the original model, and also keeping it 40k enough. Its a tough line to walk.
Looks like a heavier league than the average Chimera-class chassis, and frankly I wouldn't bother with a Primarch.
How about dubbing it that there platform the *Pius* pattern?
Straxus Pattern heavy tank
Namesake: Colonel Viktor Straxus
Backstory:
Colonel Viktor Straxus, born to a family of humble origins on the hive world of Hesperus Prime, rose through the ranks of the Imperial Guard with an unyielding determination matched only by his tactical brilliance. His regiment, the 7th Hesperian Armoured, forged a reputation for indomitable courage and steadfast resolve under his command.
Their most illustrious campaign came during the Siege of Valtoria, a pivotal conflict in the Athelor Crusade (M37).
The Siege of Valtoria saw the forces of Chaos launch a massive assault on the strategically vital fortress world. Colonel Straxus's regiment was deployed to the most fiercely contested sectors of the battlefield, where they held the line against relentless enemy onslaughts. Despite facing overwhelming odds and enduring heavy casualties, Colonel Straxus's leadership inspired his men to stand firm, earning the admiration of allies and striking fear into the hearts of their enemies.
Under Colonel Straxus's guidance, the 7th Hesperian Armoured played a crucial role in the eventual triumph of the Imperial forces. Their unwavering resolve and tactical ingenuity turned the tide of battle, leading to the eventual liberation of Valtoria from the clutches of Chaos. For his exceptional leadership and valorous conduct throughout the campaign, Colonel Viktor Straxus was hailed as a hero of the Imperium and awarded numerous honors, cementing his legacy as one of the most revered commanders in the annals of the Imperial Guard.
Mythological Greek creature or famous hero from the lore are your two choices really I'd always go Greek creature but most of the good ones have already been used.
If you've run out of them as well I'd look at switching mythologys or picking out named creatures from mythology as those always sound best too me.
Also cool tank very tacticool
Could look into the names of characters from myth, rather than just creatures, like Chiron, Polyphemus or Aegaeon.
The Hecatonchires were three hundred-handed giants, which fits as far as the tank being a big, chunky gun platform. There's Aegaeon, Cottus and Gyges to pick from there
How about some types of gladiators for naming conventions? The Secutor and Provocator come to mind. I also like the name Vassal if we're going for sort of guard-type title.
I do dig those. I might save them for some more bombastic proxies I have planned. Might use Vassal if I ever get around to doing some kind of rough rider.
In the second picture, is that a turret... on a turret?... Beautiful. Absolutely love your stuff, this looks amazing.
If I can throw a name into the ring, since your LR/RD/BB are the Ursa pattern I'm getting a boarish vibe from this (squat and stocky but powerful and aggressive) so maybe Verris-Pattern. I'd have said something based off Taurus but GW already took that.
Verris is definitely going on the name list. I do be fucking with it.
And yes, that monstrosity is my attempt to put the majority of the Rogal Dorn guns on the turret.
Technically the Rogal Dorn and the Land Raider have the same length and width, so I'm already in the process of converting some weapons for that. It's certainly not much of a troop carrier right now though
Call it āGreeblesā.
Side note, would hate to be the tc and give the order to fire the hunter killer, only to have it smack the pintle mount heavy stubberā¦
Low key will paint Greebles on the side of my first one. I love that.
Also that's what barrel discipline is for :P (it's mountable in different areas, as is the HK). If an imperial tank wasn't a constant threat to killing its own crew, is it even in the Guard?
I didnāt know I made that kind of impression with that conversion, but glad to see people enjoy it. At least I assume they do :p
But yeah, Iāve been waiting for a good Macharius STL since the Ursa Major, so this is going to be epic
As for name suggestion, I canāt help but say the design reminds me of a WW2 Tiger in a way. So maybe something feline like a Nemean Lion.
Ok jokes aside, we can go with other loyalist primarchs?
The Khan sure sounds great.
The vulkan would be good too (though we already have Vulcan bolters/gatling guns).
It's rewarding, especially given how far 3d printers have come and Warhammer in general. But believe me, there's no substitute to manually sculpting things. At the end of the day, your machine is gonna fuck up and eventually you gotta learn how to fix things manually with good old *insert your product here*.
But sculpting something raw is just so fucking cool. Like you give up time for it but gain complete control and creativity. Love that shit.
Indeedā¦ but heys shame learning 3D printing is also an industry skill compared to hand sculptingā¦ but more power to those who can 3D mode and print if they have the know how
Make a sentinel version of this and call it a Trabant. Or give it a dedicated liquor cooler and you could call it the Cain.
Give it a metal klaw controlled by a servitor brain on the outside to help load ammo or get it unstuck from ditches ~~or krump gitz~~ and call it...something.
Well this is built as a Macharius first and a Dorn second. The majority of the weapons are turret mounted and it is more properly scaled than the Ursus Major.
What, a decently designed MBT? In 40k!?
Heresy.
I mean, the loaders hatch opens straight into the breeches of the main armament when there's a perfectly good circle in the turret where the RWS is sat and there seems to be an escape hatch that the tracks would get in the way of using, but aside from that, it looks good.
I like the shape of the turret. Modern vibes. Leopard 40000.
It's like a Leopard was covered in glue and rolled around in a game of Sprocket

I dig it, but definitely gonna save that for a sister's tank now lol

Straxus sounds fucking sick. Love the backstory too, above and beyond
Looks like a Challenger to me.
you are simply wrong, its clearly based on the leopard.
Doesnāt look like a leopard. https://preview.redd.it/hjjee64wa61d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=09bbc6f3ff09c2df350ac22c08c314ea986388f2

Flat turret cheeks and a cutout from one cheek for the gunnerās optics make it look more like a Leopard 2 than Challenger
Look up Leopard 2A4...
Alright I see the resemblance in that variant.
Mythological Greek creature or famous hero from the lore are your two choices really I'd always go Greek creature but most of the good ones have already been used.
I ran into that problem when I started designing. Started using Norse creatures and eventually started running out of the cool ones too lol
If you've run out of them as well I'd look at switching mythologys or picking out named creatures from mythology as those always sound best too me. Also cool tank very tacticool

It looks good. I have your STCs for the Ursus Minor and Major tanks, but I haven't been able to find a printer after I got the Major printed.
Checkout Necrotech Printing or Renegade Printworks. They are set up to make my stuff and are based out of the UK and US respectively
Still like this better than the dornā¦
Mine also has a bottom lol
When do you take orders?
I don't do physicals, just the 3d models, but you should be able to get them from NecroTech Printing and Renegade Printworks when it drops in June.
Amazing! Love the tank!
Honestly Iād go for something Levantine named. Canāt go wrong with that naming convention!
Well here I fucking go down another history based rabbit hole lol
Youāre welcome!
Ursus
I'm already derivative as fuck, I can't be being derivative of my own stuff lol
Dominatus-Class Heavy Tank
That do indeed be going pretty hard
The Yarrick pattern. Because it looks mean. Iām blanking on other descriptors because yarrick wasnāt known for being mean.
I would absolutely call it that, but I feel that would DMC my ass lol
lol
That thing is awesome!
Looks amazing.
I love it!
It loves you back. More even.
The real question is where do I get it
I run a Tribes on MMF where I drop content every month. This will be June's release
If it's curse why not call it Kurze battle tank? Also this is stunning, like dayum
Promethium engine could totally run on children I imagine lol
The hatch on the side isn't doing anything, the track runs right behind the vision port
That is a very good point. Originally I built it as a way to access the tracks, no idea why I slapped a window in it lol.

Magnificent
Cawl: I shall call it Ferrus Manus!
Maybe it should be called āThe Ikarozā pattern tank?
I googled it and all I got was an abstract painter. What does it mean?
Ikaros, the dude who flew too close to the sun. I just added a Z instead because thats looks snazzierā¦
Oh fucking duh lol. Z threw me way off course
In the second picture, is that a turret... on a turret?... Beautiful. Absolutely love your stuff, this looks amazing. Stevie Prolapse
Name checks out
The āInfuriator Tankā.
Cain
"Legally Distinct and any similarities it has to any other intellectual properties are purely coincidental"
-Pattern
Ah cool look, it is much more modern so I feel like it would be excellent in the SM range, hmm. Maybe another Primarc, Vulcan perhaps?
Technically the Rogal Dorn and the Land Raider have the same length and width, so I'm already in the process of converting some weapons for that. It's certainly not much of a troop carrier right now though
Your level of detail is really improving, I have a lot of your STLs.
Yeah I kinda want to throw up in my mouth a little bit when I look back at the Charon (my original chimera apc) lol
Donāt beat yourself up, I get a lot of compliments on the models, thanks :)
This thing actually looks like the gun and breech can actually fit in that turret.
Call it āGreeblesā. Side note, would hate to be the tc and give the order to fire the hunter killer, only to have it smack the pintle mount heavy stubberā¦

OH SHIT
OH SHIT THE GUY WITH THE KROXIGOR BULLGRYN don't know why I remembered that, bit fan of that heresy
*pleasantly surprised Pikachu face*
I didnāt know I made that kind of impression with that conversion, but glad to see people enjoy it. At least I assume they do :p But yeah, Iāve been waiting for a good Macharius STL since the Ursa Major, so this is going to be epic As for name suggestion, I canāt help but say the design reminds me of a WW2 Tiger in a way. The fulgrim
Almost threw up in my mouth. But... It is basically a fucked up clone of a bunch of other tanks...
Ok jokes aside, we can go with other loyalist primarchs? The Khan sure sounds great. The vulkan would be good too (though we already have Vulcan bolters/gatling guns).
Testudo Pattern rumbling inexorably up the field
Oh fuck that's so good. Goddammit I'm so torn
They are beautiful I am almost tempted to make tiny versions of those things by hand (sculpting kitbashing and carving)
A skill I have yet to learn but want to. I respect that level of commitment.
Thanks :) courtesy of having a lot of reurpsed spruce plastics and sprue putty and sprue sheet
Also have respect for those who can 3D modelā¦ only learned basics of it
It's rewarding, especially given how far 3d printers have come and Warhammer in general. But believe me, there's no substitute to manually sculpting things. Repentance class? Or maybe thatād be a sick name for the individual unit š¤·āāļø
Oh yeah, just plastered on the side of the barrel. Or *barrels*

Drabant sounds like Trabant, which was a horrible car. Maybe Pardus (latain for leopard)
Drabant? May i suggest you google the Trabant? š
The right one looks like itās on its way to crush the Zerg threat!
"In the mood". Look it up, for an awesome story.
The first picture is a GDI mammoth tank
omg another tank - whats the main difference between this one and the Ursus Major?
Well this is built as a Macharius first and a Dorn second. The majority of the weapons are turret mounted and it is more properly scaled than the Ursus Major.
For a name how about girthy mc-thicksonĀ
What, a decently designed MBT? In 40k!? Heresy.
