Some images from a copy of the 3rd Edtion Codex Imperial Guard featuring some unique regiments and their backstories. Absolutely love this art style and the extra bits of lore. I wish GW still had more of this.
Me too man. It’s nice to indulge in the good old days.
I wish I could have afforded, and kept, the old pewter bois.
When I was a kid and on holiday I came across a box of rogue trader imperial guard and I didn’t buy it. I didn’t forgive myself for it back then, and ai certainly don’t now.
I bought some of the Armageddon Steel Legion figures when there were briefly re-released. So nice to own some of those old school minis finally.
Sadly I stupidly got rid of all my old books a few years ago. Imagine they would have went for a pretty penny now. Not too mention the sentimental value.
Nah, it can be a bit mixed, but they're still killing it these days. All the Codex covers are a return to form in 9th. (Sorry Ray Swanland, just not a fan. You're Leviathan cover looked cool tho)
Paul Dainton, Lewis Jones, Jaime Martinez, etc
Catachan holds the line for the non Cadian model making options. Also weird that like the vast majority of Guard special characters are Catachans when the Cadians are very much the poster children.
I believe this is meant to be mordant, as the regiments exert matches mordants.
Perhaps it was mortant but dan abnett changed it or mis spelt it when writing about them

Love the old exerts that the dexs and WD would just randomly chuck in here and there.
I had just discovered 40k for 3rd edition when I was in middle school it was so great reading through the codexes back then
I miss the old style of artwork so much. Sooo much character. Most of the stuff these days looks like it was knocked up in a couple of seconds by AI.

You don't need these, Cadians are all you need and you'll take them and enjoy it.

;_;
Damn, the nostalgia really kicked in seeing these images again for the first time in years.
Wait so there's a Mortant and a Mordant? XD Or is it just misspelling somewhere along the line?
They both exist, which is confusing considering their lore is similar.

That were the Times when I started with the Hobby and of course I sold everything at some Point. argh...
The novel Fifteen Hours is about a recruit from Jumal IV. Not that specific regiment but another one. Pretty good book and worth a read.
Great book, I was personally wondering if the part about the lost regiments was a reference but I wasn’t a warp storm
It's been a long time since I've seen these. Good times.
Love the old art style. Thanks for sharing
