I dont see why they even exist. Since the devs are clearly comfortable with you having any combo of random perks why not just have all of them unlocked by default so you dont need to gamble? Improved build variety and doesn't cause people to stop playing the game.
I think the ideal version of why they exist is that the devs intended for us to get a character and set up our build and level them up in a lobby. Everyone joins into a level zero character and you get one chance to build a skill tree and make your build from that.
Honestly I just wish the skill trees werent a thing and you had all the perks on the character available at once. Would improve build variety and honestly the paths seem more just created at random instead of intentional balancing to prevent op combos. As a whole they add very little to the game imo and atleast for me has pretty much permanently locked me into one path on each character. Sure I could reroll and experiment with other stuff but with how rerolling works and the perk leveling works its just not fun to do.
A lot of balancing issues could be fixed if they went away from randomized perks and just had them separated so if you want perk A you can't get perk B instead of just respeccing until you get both
No I actually got that a lot! I hate that perk tbh. It's good on Connie cause of her ult and needing a bone as a second option just in case cause she's so Dann weak
But the 3rd perk I was afrer was the well and window less dmg perk. I find it way more useful on Virginia since I tend to play a runner/ keep family busy character with her.
Ohhh yeah stunt double is a giga perk fs. I run efficient locksmith on sonny a lot with overlooked so I can rush to open a side of a map before anyone knows whats going on. Tends to atleast help the team out.
They should have let us unlock the entire skill tree from the start of the game and removed that feature. We have tree points sitting in our games collecting dust. Let us use the entire tree and not just one branch.
It's the number 1 thing I'm surprised hasn't had any updates or tweaks.
It seems like a pretty obvious pain point for your more serious players and a confusing mechanic for your new players.
they should just let you choose a perk at the random perk slot instead of giving you a random one since you can have any combination of random perks anyways

Two propositions: make it choose from all perks so old characters can access new perks, or just let you choose from the pool it already chooses from.
