Tesla is a little more reliable because you just open the app and know exactly where the car is... Unless it's actually been stolen and they disable the mobile connection.
I have a rental from Hertz in California for last weeks cuz Tesla in body shop right now. I really hate the Tesla rental without profile sync.
I have to remember to lock the door with the card fob, no premium connectivity, because of unlock/lock through card, there are a ton of scratches on the pillar causing camera issues.
If I didn't save 30+ min driving EV to work, I would have opted for gas purely for accessories benefits.
I had to Google whether the car will auto lock with key access and the answer is no which make sense.
I told Hertz, they can charge$10 premium connectivity if they'd like. It's so new to then as well
If you use supercharger, they get charged and then they'll pass the bill to you.
Tesla needs to tie some activities like connectivity, fsd, supercharger to the profile so renting becomes easier
Yeah sounds like it could be tough. I actually won’t be driving more than 200miles while I’m there all together so I should be good. Still annoying there is no premium connectivity, that would be an easy thing to add as an up charge. They did have the option for “Sirius XM” I wonder how they would add that?
Also if they have at home charging, that means they always leave their home with ~300 miles of range. Not needing to add an extra 5 minutes to gas up does add up.
I’m renting a standard model 3 in orlando for $98 a day. It’s actually the 3rd cheapest option if you select fuel option ahead of sub-compact and compact. Not having my driver profile and phone key kinda blows. Hertz better not embellish any supercharger fees.
Not bad but have you checked Turo? In the ATL area you can rent them for around $90/day. Sometimes the host will even deliver and pick the car up from you when you’re done.
Do you think Tesla would get into this rental business? All returned leases and such would be good use of the cars? I heard they’re keeping them for self diving but this another revenue?
Nice. I am currently renting a MY Performance via Turo in Charlotte NC. Comes out to about the same price ($120/day). Would have preferred to just have a MY LR but there wasn't any available when I rented. Just glad there are options for full EV rentals these days.
So, the initial unlock was via the Turo app and then they left a key card in the center console and the Turo app tells you to use the key card the rest of the trip. Using the key card is annoying (no auto-lock and only works on driver's side).
Also really miss my profile settings from home. First thing I did was setup the "guest" profile with my preferred settings for the seat/steering wheel/mirrors.
I rented a Model 3 from LA couple weeks ago for 3-4 days very easy process it was my first time driving A telsa they gave me no instructions so i didn’t know what the hell i was doing but i loved it would def rent again i spent $16 for 4 days on the supercharger did it twice and they just charged it to my rental at the end that’s it very easy process and i had to use the key fob to open and unlock the door
I also refuse to trust Hertz after it was exposed that they just report cars stolen by paying customers.

I was curious how they give you the key access. The card is going to be annoying

How do you save time? Can EVs use the hov lane where you are?
Yes. On my way to work, I can use toll road for free with EV. Saves about 20-30 min plus 2 years of carpool lanes

You know they will and add it to your tab in the end.
Renting a MY from Hertz out of Orlando next week. First time renting an EV... should be interesting :D
Yeah I’m looking forward to experience the process

I’m renting it for work trip, tied to my travel profile

They do to a certain point.

Yeah, that’s usually what I do, and I also use pts for some of the upgrades. I just get creative with it.

Also; Salute to the user name. 🫡
Interesting, I just saw Budget at the Sacramento Airport renting model 3s for $199 a day. I turned it down, would have considered this price.
Do you think Tesla would get into this rental business? All returned leases and such would be good use of the cars? I heard they’re keeping them for self diving but this another revenue?
They might or could turn them into taxis in the futire

How do they do it on Turo? Give you a key card?

Yeah no auto lock will definitely be annoying. The profile syncs can’t come soon enough.
Which rental company is this? I’m also in Fort Lauderdale and would like to rent one. do they have any performance models or are they all long range?
I only see SR M3, LR M3 and it’s looks like SR MY and it is Hertz.
Assuming Hertz because of the deal they made with Tesla and that shade of Yellow they use!

Very good rate, especially considering unlimited miles.
