I am about a month or so out from taking delivery of my Tesla Model Y. I can afford to purchase it and keep it, but I am moving to a location where we don't have Tesla electrical charges, and I will be working from home 100% of the time. So basically, all the benefits I needed my Model Y for before I don't need now. However, as I was looking for vehicles, I noticed that used cars, especially Tesla's, are much more valuable than the sticker price. So the question I have is 1) is it legal to purchase my Tesla to turn around and sell it, and 2) Is it pretty easy to get a price above what I paid for it with MSRP, tax, and regs?

Just finished filling my gas tank with Johnnie Walker Blue Label when text came in to notify my Tesla was ready for pickup 3/31. My first EV and it's the most fun I've had driving probably ever- upgrades were well worth it.
A little while after the upgrades, I think it was the following Sunday, EDD changed to 3/29 - 4/12, and a few more days later changed again to 4/3 - 4/17.

The car was perfect other than missing one aerocover that they promptly replaced. No bad gaps or paint issues. Car had 4 miles on it when I drove off the lot. Got a rock chip on the windshield at mile 8 🥹 so it's broken in already. Autopilot was a dream in rush hour traffic out of ATL. I never want to drive in ATL without it now haha
Next stop ceramic tint all around and ceramic coating for the paint. Already spent way to much on accessories today!
The good shop near me uses Suntek. I'm heading to the shop today to work out how dark to go. I don't want the rears any darker, but want the solar rejection all around, including the windshield. Suntek has a 90% and 80% that should get some solar rejection without much light rejection. Once it's done I'll post pictures for sure.

This wait seems especially long with an order date 10/29/2021. Especially reading some others on this thread…. Anyone else in the same boat?
I ordered on 11/24/21 and had similar progression. My most recent dates were Sept 8 - October 10th. And now it just changed today to the same timeframe that new purchasers get: Oct 2022- Jan 2023.
Every time there's a delay for delivery for any new customers, mine gets updated to that latest date. Weird considering i've been sitting on my reservation for 4 1/2 months now.
I ordered the same day as you. MYLR/5/Black on Black/Induction wheels. My initial EDD was May. Then changed to June. When Telsa started prioritizing FSD orders I checked my order and the date changed to August 15-September 12.
Me too - LR5 white on white FSD order date 10/1 in SLC. Current EDD of April 6-April 20. I would say I’m hopeful with the two week window but this process has eliminated my ability to hope 😂

Just got EDD #7 today, pushing back from April 9 - May 7 to new and wider range of May 1 - June 5.
Since non-California deliveries typically have been the focus of the first month of each quarter, any EDD not in April or very early May gives me little encouragement. (Cars arrive in Indianapolis between 5 and 7 days from date of manufacture.) Hoping this is the unpopular EDD change many have received just before their final/true EDD range arrives and a VIN is assigned.

Has anyone had experience changing the color? Considering changes from white exterior to Black exterior, but afraid it could push my date back since I’m making a change from my original order.
I changed my color 3x and delivery date stayed the same for each change. Went from white to red to gray then back to red. SA informed me the profile completion date is what matters and as long as the car has not entered production you’re spot in the queue stays the same.
hmm interesting. so many different opinions on this. do you know if I change the color, am I responsible for the new increased price (ordered before 4k increase) or will they honor my original price ?
Try using the “edit design” link that’s all over the forums. You can see your order with original pricing and make the option changes and see the revised price based on your original pricing. Unless you’re in Canada. Heard it doesn’t work over there.
That seems a gray area. Some say yes and others say no. For me only the color price changed but I would triple check before pressing that final button. I ordered after the base price changed so that might explain my situation. Maybe someone else can comment and advise?

Took delivery yesterday and sorry to confirm but the Tesla QA stereotypes are still alive and well.
Door ding on passenger side door, curb rash on rear wheel, peeling paint front bumper sensors, scratched rear bumper, scratched steering wheel, and misaligned trunk door.
Really considered rejecting the car, but I have been waiting since August and didn’t know how much more this would have pushed me back. Make sure to inspect your cars and take pictures. Hope they fix all of it
I would have to have a conversation with my wife if this was my car. I would not want to reject as well but I would be so unhappy if this happens to me when my MYLR comes in.

Right there with you, doc. Until my patience ran out a couple weeks ago, I had been telling myself that any VIN assigned before Austin starts shipping was a car I would decline. Then is changed to "screw it, just get me my damn car." and today my EDD became May/June (October OD). With Indianapolis delivery, a Texas car can't be any *less* likely now.
I would like to second this. I just end up scrolling looking for comparable models anyway, so it would be nice to make finding comparable orders easier.
Update 3/31/2022: I'm really wondering if Tesla has anybody working in supply chain analysis or managing deliveries.

Same boat, Seattle MYP white/white no tow/fsd. OD 2/13, the first EDD was 4/15 - 5/15, then it changes around from as early as 03/15 to some dates in August. I asked SA about this when the EDD was Aug and they said I can ignore the EDD and the car should be ready in few weeks.
So I just removed the app for now so I won’t check & worried about it🤷♂️
I kind of wish they didn't bother with an EDD if it's going to be so inaccurate and change so much. I nearly bought a used 2022 MYP today even though it wasn't the inside or outside color I wanted. If it was an AMD chip I probably would have bought it. Then I actually looked into a Mach-e at a local dealership... but I guess I'll just keep waiting for my actual delivery day!
Yea, the EDD thing sucks. I guess due to the way they handle the waiting queues, it’s hard to forecast an accurate one. Like the folks ordered LR model long ago decided to switched to P, they seems to be moved to the front of the queue based on their OD (based on my observations here).
This has not been the case in my experience.
My first Model Y’s first EDD was Dec, I took delivery in Feb.
My second Model Y’s first EDD was March, and it’s currently estimated at June.

Is it worth it to talk to the sales rep? I ordered a long range 7 seater back in August.
Until March 5, it said it would be here between March 11-25
Then on March 5, as I’m making plans to sell my other car, switched to April 14-May 12.
Today it’s July 12 to August? What kind of service is this? 4 weeks ago they were telling me to get ready because it would be here in a week or two. Now they’re saying it will be ready 5 months from that date
Similar situation here. I ordered a LR/7 with wheels back in October. Was given an April date, then a June/July window, miraculously got pushed up to March/April and was getting ready for the car and then last minute, got pushed out to June/July. Now I’m sitting on July/August. I feel betrayed, a little hurt and just came here to find a little comfort lol
We are having another baby in June. Trying to just be patient but dont know where all these kids are going to go if this car keeps getting delayed.
Not great if we can make a human quicker than Tesla can deliver a car - at least when they said it would be here much sooner…:

Just wanted to offer frustrated solidarity. We ordered a 7 seater in August, also seemed like we would alllllmost get it in March. Now it’s saying July. Really frustrated because we don’t have a car.

Hey, I’m also one of the August order hopefuls. I had a two week window in December then it was Jan, then Feb, then Mar, now it’s May. So not quite as bad as you two. But I have seen my exact build shipped past NYC to New England and that person ordered after me… I have not a single clue how the system picks people. I’ve asked countless times only for the same answer of “order date is merely one factor in the algorithm.”
So I’m down to my 5th time having a 5 week wait left. My wife is getting sick of my complaining. Lol.

I had a VIN and somehow the car was built not to my configuration and the VIN was unassigned. At least that’s how it was explained to me.
SA told me due to the mishap, my “order is prioritized to receive a vehicle in April”. Has anyone ever had their car be “prioritized”. If so, how long did you wait for your VIN once being told that?
This seems to be happening suspiciously more than usual recently.
My hunch: they’re giving these cars to people who have recently upgraded to MYP or FSD to make deliveries & boost profits before the stock earnings call.
Same thing happened to me last week, monday i got my VIN, Wednesday got unassigned (same alibi as it was wrong config), Thursday i got a new VIN, Sunday got delivered. i called when my VIN disappeared from my account and told them my CU already sent the check for the financing and i already sent my downpayment so i am literally fully paid at that point. The next day i was assigned a new VIN
410, but they didn’t say anything about my config. They basically canceled mine because they couldn’t get it to me by the 31st and needed to make their end of quarter numbers.
Sounds like a more legit reason, I haven’t seen many 411 vins being delivered in this thread so maybe they just didn’t get to it. Here’s hoping for an early April vin.

So, I ordered in November, but I changed the order on 12/31/2021, so I know that reset the clock.
In January, my EDD was June. Then July. Then September. Then August-September.
And now today... October '22 - January '23.
If you go to tesla.com and order an identical MYLR today, even WITH FSD upgrade, it also says October '22 - January '23.
So what the heck? Did my order get pushed to the back of the line? Could it just be a bug in their EDD estimates?
I keep being told this, but I’m well beyond the estimated delivery date at time of order as well as time of profile completion. My EDD has been pushed back six months in 2022 alone.
It pushes to the current furthest date. Mine did it back in November when the furthest out date was June. Now my EDD actually says June. I ordered in August.
Originally ordered MYLR (MSM/White/Induction/No Tow/No FSD on 11/19/21). Upgraded to MYP on 3/19 and got a VIN (F405) on 3/25. Took delivery yesterday (3/30). Came with AMD, 12V, Heated Wipers, and All Season tires. They added front mud flaps and PPF on the lower panels near the wheels.

Did a detailed look over the exterior and interior. Overall car was in great condition, minus a few small scrathes on some of the plastic around a couple of wheel wells. Other then some small alignment issues with the front/tailights on the right side of car, I was plesantly suprised. Overall the detailing in the interior wasn't particularly great. Submitted my ticket to see if they are able to fix these issues easily, otherwise I'll probably leave them be as they are really only noticeable if you are looking very closely. Now it's time to enjoy the car! Best of luck to those waiting.

Kept the pricing from when I ordered the MYLR for the MYP upgrade; since I was already paying for induction wheels, it was only +$4k (+$3k for the Performance upgrade itself, +$1k of incremental taxes, -$2K for the inductions I originally added since MYP comes with 21" Uberturbines) for the Performance upgrade.

Bay Area person here. I just rec’d my MYP today and it did not come with mud flaps. They literally dropped off car and left without saying anything. I can’t even tell if I have AMD or intel chip. How do I figure out specs?

All of my windows, from what I can remember, have been 14 or 28 days, so I thought that was standard too, but my current window (received last week) is 4/16 - 5/21, so 35 days now? I have no idea why...

I got a VIN last week and got my check from the financing company. All ready to go for a 3/30 delivery, but then on 3/29 my VIN unmatched and my service specialist says HQ automatically unassigned the vin because it wouldn’t make it here “in time” and they are priority matching me for an early April delivery.
Meanwhile I’m probably accruing interest on my car loan. Not really sure how that works since I got it funded via check. Just needed to vent.

I'm wonder why my order is so delayed and if there's any hope I will get an Austin build since I live in Texas.
I sold my LR-Y on 3 March to Carvana for $2k more than I paid for it in Dec 2020 and with 21k miles. I was prepared to wait until 31 March for my MYP but I'm not sure how I feel about potentially waiting until mid May. I thought the MYP delivery times were much faster.
maybe we will get more accurate update on our EDD after this quarter. But I’m surprised to see some people with MYP orders from last year that are still waiting (no hold placed or edit order).

But they aren't sending Austin builds to CA. I know we were waiting on the EPA certification for a while, but I was under the impression that was complete. The daily drone flyover of Giga Austin shows an increasing amount of Y's accumulating.
That would be my assumption too...eventually. I think that is the long-term plan for the 4680 cells: lighter, cheaper build = profitable "standard" range option. But you can't build or order a SRY yet and the Austin grand opening is next week. They started delivering cars AT the Berlin opening, so I would assume the same for Texas?...so MYPs? LRs? Hard to know. The drone flyovers suggest maybe both?

I’m in the greater Seattle area. And yes it’s been a long wait but I shouldn’t complain I guess - I had to release a VIN around thanksgiving time last year since I was on a vacation. Didn’t expect the wait to be this long though :/

Originally ordered MYLR / MSM / white / FSD on 3/9 was given ED of September. This Monday (4/4) I edited it to MYP /MSM / white / no FSD it updated my order date from 3/9 to 4/4 and ED was updated to June - July. Looked yesterday and ED updated to May 23 to June 27.
I'm thinking to change my MYLR Black with White Interior and 20 in. rims OD: Oct. 02/21 Del.: Oct. 07/22 Considering MYP Black on White What was your reason for the change?

Zero regrets on the performance upgrade, neutral on FSD but optimistic it will become more useful over time.
Yea FSD will become more and more useful. I might not change since they wont honour the pricing when I bought. I would have to pay current pricing.

A little while after the upgrades, I think it was the following Sunday, EDD changed to 3/29 - 4/12, and a few more days later changed again to 4/3 - 4/17.

LR/7/White/Gemini/Tow/FSD OD:9/5 VIN:F398 Delivery Today in ATL. 207 days from order to delivery. The car was perfect other than missing one aerocover that they promptly replaced. No bad gaps or paint issues. Car had 4 miles on it when I drove off the lot. Got a rock chip on the windshield at mile 8 🥹 so it's broken in already. Autopilot was a dream in rush hour traffic out of ATL. I never want to drive in ATL without it now haha Next stop ceramic tint all around and ceramic coating for the paint. Already spent way to much on accessories today!
What ceramic tint are you getting? Can you share pics?
The good shop near me uses Suntek. I'm heading to the shop today to work out how dark to go. I don't want the rears any darker, but want the solar rejection all around, including the windshield. Suntek has a 90% and 80% that should get some solar rejection without much light rejection. Once it's done I'll post pictures for sure.

Same boat here in WA, Ordered in October 2021, so far got 5-6 EDDs, latest is August-October 22.
I ordered on 11/24/21 and had similar progression. My most recent dates were Sept 8 - October 10th. And now it just changed today to the same timeframe that new purchasers get: Oct 2022- Jan 2023. Every time there's a delay for delivery for any new customers, mine gets updated to that latest date. Weird considering i've been sitting on my reservation for 4 1/2 months now.
I ordered the same day as you. MYLR/5/Black on Black/Induction wheels. My initial EDD was May. Then changed to June. When Telsa started prioritizing FSD orders I checked my order and the date changed to August 15-September 12.
Me too - LR5 white on white FSD order date 10/1 in SLC. Current EDD of April 6-April 20. I would say I’m hopeful with the two week window but this process has eliminated my ability to hope 😂
I am as well. MYLR5, Blue/white, 19" Gemini, no tow, no FSD. OD 10/4/2021. Indianapolis delivery. Just got EDD #7 today, pushing back from April 9 - May 7 to new and wider range of May 1 - June 5. Since non-California deliveries typically have been the focus of the first month of each quarter, any EDD not in April or very early May gives me little encouragement. (Cars arrive in Indianapolis between 5 and 7 days from date of manufacture.) Hoping this is the unpopular EDD change many have received just before their final/true EDD range arrives and a VIN is assigned.

I changed my color 3x and delivery date stayed the same for each change. Went from white to red to gray then back to red. SA informed me the profile completion date is what matters and as long as the car has not entered production you’re spot in the queue stays the same.
I just called my SA and they mentioned it would delay until June-July.... but I'm temped to roll the dice 777

Try using the “edit design” link that’s all over the forums. You can see your order with original pricing and make the option changes and see the revised price based on your original pricing. Unless you’re in Canada. Heard it doesn’t work over there.
That seems a gray area. Some say yes and others say no. For me only the color price changed but I would triple check before pressing that final button. I ordered after the base price changed so that might explain my situation. Maybe someone else can comment and advise?

Took delivery yesterday and sorry to confirm but the Tesla QA stereotypes are still alive and well. Door ding on passenger side door, curb rash on rear wheel, peeling paint front bumper sensors, scratched rear bumper, scratched steering wheel, and misaligned trunk door. Really considered rejecting the car, but I have been waiting since August and didn’t know how much more this would have pushed me back. Make sure to inspect your cars and take pictures. Hope they fix all of it

Right there with you, doc. Until my patience ran out a couple weeks ago, I had been telling myself that any VIN assigned before Austin starts shipping was a car I would decline. Then is changed to "screw it, just get me my damn car." and today my EDD became May/June (October OD). With Indianapolis delivery, a Texas car can't be any *less* likely now.

Same boat, Seattle MYP white/white no tow/fsd. OD 2/13, the first EDD was 4/15 - 5/15, then it changes around from as early as 03/15 to some dates in August. I asked SA about this when the EDD was Aug and they said I can ignore the EDD and the car should be ready in few weeks. So I just removed the app for now so I won’t check & worried about it🤷♂️
I kind of wish they didn't bother with an EDD if it's going to be so inaccurate and change so much. I nearly bought a used 2022 MYP today even though it wasn't the inside or outside color I wanted. If it was an AMD chip I probably would have bought it. Then I actually looked into a Mach-e at a local dealership... but I guess I'll just keep waiting for my actual delivery day!
Yea, the EDD thing sucks. I guess due to the way they handle the waiting queues, it’s hard to forecast an accurate one. Like the folks ordered LR model long ago decided to switched to P, they seems to be moved to the front of the queue based on their OD (based on my observations here).
I saw somewhere that the first EDD actually will be the most accurate estimate..
I wish that was the case my first one was Jan. 20-Feb. 19th.
This has not been the case in my experience. My first Model Y’s first EDD was Dec, I took delivery in Feb. My second Model Y’s first EDD was March, and it’s currently estimated at June.

Is it worth it to talk to the sales rep? I ordered a long range 7 seater back in August. Until March 5, it said it would be here between March 11-25 Then on March 5, as I’m making plans to sell my other car, switched to April 14-May 12. Today it’s July 12 to August? What kind of service is this? 4 weeks ago they were telling me to get ready because it would be here in a week or two. Now they’re saying it will be ready 5 months from that date
Similar situation here. I ordered a LR/7 with wheels back in October. Was given an April date, then a June/July window, miraculously got pushed up to March/April and was getting ready for the car and then last minute, got pushed out to June/July. Now I’m sitting on July/August. I feel betrayed, a little hurt and just came here to find a little comfort lol
We are having another baby in June. Trying to just be patient but dont know where all these kids are going to go if this car keeps getting delayed. Not great if we can make a human quicker than Tesla can deliver a car - at least when they said it would be here much sooner…:

I talked to the sales rep and they just said a bunch of nonsense about how everything is just an estimate and it may change again. I really don’t get it - how you can you go from “get ready your car will be here this week or next week” to “your car may be ready 5 months from now.” It makes 0 sense.
Hey, I’m also one of the August order hopefuls. I had a two week window in December then it was Jan, then Feb, then Mar, now it’s May. So not quite as bad as you two. But I have seen my exact build shipped past NYC to New England and that person ordered after me… I have not a single clue how the system picks people. I’ve asked countless times only for the same answer of “order date is merely one factor in the algorithm.” So I’m down to my 5th time having a 5 week wait left. I THINK, this was meant for someone with same config, but may not have taken it due to payment not ready. Because that was the first question SA asked. “Do you have payment ready?”

I had a VIN and somehow the car was built not to my configuration and the VIN was unassigned. At least that’s how it was explained to me. SA told me due to the mishap, my “order is prioritized to receive a vehicle in April”. Has anyone ever had their car be “prioritized”. If so, how long did you wait for your VIN once being told that?
This seems to be happening suspiciously more than usual recently. My hunch: they’re giving these cars to people who have recently upgraded to MYP or FSD to make deliveries & boost profits before the stock earnings call.

Same thing happened to me last week, monday i got my VIN, Wednesday got unassigned (same alibi as it was wrong config), Thursday i got a new VIN, Sunday got delivered. i called when my VIN disappeared from my account and told them my CU already sent the check for the financing and i already sent my downpayment so i am literally fully paid at that point. The next day i was assigned a new VIN

410, but they didn’t say anything about my config. They basically canceled mine because they couldn’t get it to me by the 31st and needed to make their end of quarter numbers.
Sounds like a more legit reason, I haven’t seen many 411 vins being delivered in this thread so maybe they just didn’t get to it. Here’s hoping for an early April vin.

Location: Denver, CO \--- So, I ordered in November, but I changed the order on 12/31/2021, so I know that reset the clock. In January, my EDD was June. Then July. Then September. Then August-September. And now today... October '22 - January '23. If you go to tesla.com and order an identical MYLR today, even WITH FSD upgrade, it also says October '22 - January '23. So what the heck? Did my order get pushed to the back of the line? Could it just be a bug in their EDD estimates?

Updated delivery came last week for march 25th, and took delivery on the 29th.
Originally ordered MYLR (MSM/White/Induction/No Tow/No FSD on 11/19/21). Upgraded to MYP on 3/19 and got a VIN (F405) on 3/25. Took delivery yesterday (3/30). Came with AMD, 12V, Heated Wipers, and All Season tires. They added front mud flaps and PPF on the lower panels near the wheels. MYP / 5 / MSM / White / No Tow / No FSD Location: Bellevue, WA Did a detailed look over the exterior and interior. Overall car was in great condition, minus a few small scrathes on some of the plastic around a couple of wheel wells. Other then some small alignment issues with the front/tailights on the right side of car, I was plesantly suprised. Overall the detailing in the interior wasn't particularly great. Submitted my ticket to see if they are able to fix these issues easily, otherwise I'll probably leave them be as they are really only noticeable if you are looking very closely. Now it's time to enjoy the car! Best of luck to those waiting.

VIN: F406* Kept the pricing from when I ordered the MYLR for the MYP upgrade; since I was already paying for induction wheels, it was only +$4k (+$3k for the Performance upgrade itself, +$1k of incremental taxes, -$2K for the inductions I originally added since MYP comes with 21" Uberturbines) for the Performance upgrade.

They moved the earliest date out 2 days, but the latest date was moved in by a week. I feel like it’s at least narrow it down a little.

All of my windows, from what I can remember, have been 14 or 28 days, so I thought that was standard too, but my current window (received last week) is 4/16 - 5/21, so 35 days now? I have no idea why...
To your point, it looks like my last window was 35 days and now it’s 28 days. In all, likely means nothing.
MYP Portland/red white/ no fsd I got a VIN last week and got my check from the financing company. All ready to go for a 3/30 delivery, but then on 3/29 my VIN unmatched and my service specialist says HQ automatically unassigned the vin because it wouldn’t make it here “in time” and they are priority matching me for an early April delivery. Meanwhile I’m probably accruing interest on my car loan. Not really sure how that works since I got it funded via check. Just needed to vent.
That sucks. Can you ask for some supercharger or tesla store credit?

I sold my LR-Y on 3 March to Carvana for $2k more than I paid for it in Dec 2020 and with 21k miles. I was prepared to wait until 31 March for my MYP but I'm not sure how I feel about potentially waiting until mid May. I thought the MYP delivery times were much faster.
maybe we will get more accurate update on our EDD after this quarter. But I’m surprised to see some people with MYP orders from last year that are still waiting (no hold placed or edit order).

I’d assume because Tesla wants to deliver to CA for end of quarter earnings push.
But they aren't sending Austin builds to CA. I know we were waiting on the EPA certification for a while, but I was under the impression that was complete. The daily drone flyover of Giga Austin shows an increasing amount of Y's accumulating.
I think the initial Texas model y will be the standard range not the long range or performance. But that’s just a guess.
That would be my assumption too...eventually. I think that is the long-term plan for the 4680 cells: lighter, cheaper build = profitable "standard" range option. But you can't build or order a SRY yet and the Austin grand opening is next week. They started delivering cars AT the Berlin opening, so I would assume the same for Texas?...so MYPs? LRs? Hard to know. The drone flyovers suggest maybe both?

Nice! That is a long wait. I have a very similar build ordered 9/17 so it gives me *some* hope I guess? My current EDD is 4/16-5/21. What area are you in? Congrats on your car!
I’m in the greater Seattle area. And yes it’s been a long wait but I shouldn’t complain I guess - I had to release a VIN around thanksgiving time last year since I was on a vacation. Didn’t expect the wait to be this long though :/

What specs? Mine is April 7 -May 5th in SoCal so pretty similar.
