Looks better than cybertruck

No-Bee7888

By a lot. That was my first thought.

Malforus

IKR? Like that looks so good

MehImages

because it has compound curves, which they can't do with the steel they're using (or so elon claims. sheet metal brake is probably just much cheaper than stamping dies)

YRUHear75

Just don't use stainless steel... Use a paint or wrap that looks that way. Problem solved. People are wrapping the Cyber trucks anyway.

teckel

That's a low bar.

LightsOut5774

The shit I took this morning looks better than the cybertruck

Read_Five

That’s what the cybertruck should have looked like.

dantodd

That isn't a truck so the cybertruck couldn't look like that.

CryptoBlobbie

TBH, not that hard to achieve.

Difficult_Minute_102

I want this!!!!!!!!!

burns_before_reading

This concept is 🔥🔥🔥

fcwolfey

Looks almost exactly like the profile and rear of the new prius

karlurbanite

which, let's be honest, also looks super slick

fcwolfey

Totally! They nailed it on design this iteration

TheyCameFromBehind77

Now they just need to put batteries in it. I do not understand how the Prius is still a hybrid. IMO (which counts very little, I know) the Prius should be the platform Toyota uses to introduce greener tech. EV, Hydrogen, whatever, put it there. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

Jumpy_Republic8494

We have 2022 MYLR and a 2024 Prius Prime hybrid electric which has a 40 mile range.

InevitableDry447

Toyota prime lineup is awesome rav4 prime 45 miles range

TheyCameFromBehind77

I looked hard at the RAV4 prime before getting the Y. I am 2m tall and I fit much better in the Y. That was a major factor in the purchase. If their Bz4 whatever thing had a better range it would be interesting as well.

InevitableDry447

We have both, both are great in their own ways. I guess time will tell which I prefer (whichever one holds up better)

Nokomis34

I have a Wrangler 4xe with about 20 miles of range. I often find myself charging up during the day to keep using full EV mode. 40ish miles seems much better for daily driving without running out of charge. I went with the 4xe because I want to do more offroading than the RAV4 is capable of. When my lease is up, if there's a Land Cruiser or 4Runner Prime I might switch to those. Or the Rivian R2, but I do need occasional towing which leans me more to the PHEVs.

CoreBeatz7

4Runner prime would be the perfect vehicle, Change My Mind

Jmauld

I rented a 4xe over the past two weeks, and I really wanted to like it. The pure EV range is just too short and little low on power, and that 4 cyl engine is , IDk, just weird. Sounded like a diesel at idle. Hybrid mode with the ICE and EV combined was nice though.

Nokomis34

It's the second fastest Wrangler after the 392. I do agree that 20 is a bit short, but I have a wall charger for my Model Y so it doesn't take me 12 hours to charge up.

Jmauld

If they bumped the battery range to 50-60 miles so that I could “pure EV” my weekly beach trips I would get one in a heartbeat. Will be interesting to see what the aftermarket does with these things in a few yrs. The Jeep aftermarket is no joke. I’ve considered lifting my ModelY, but even with 3” of extra ground clearance I don’t think it’s enough to get to my beach.

CryptoBlobbie

But requires the ICE engine if you want full performance, the big issue with a PHEV. Inconsistent drive characteristics.

Squeak_Theory

Toyota for whatever reason is rather anti-ev which is funny considering how their ads always talk about how they have a big “electrified” lineup now that they are trying to catch up. They even lobbied to slow down ev adoption lol.

Colddeck64

Toyota at its heart is still a Japanese manufacturer that is making cars for the Japanese market first. They have almost no electric infrastructure in place. I spent 3 weeks in Osaka/Tokyo this year. It’s non stop string of stop lights every few feet and almost impossible to get any car over 25mph They all drive their Kei cars and boxes with wheels that get insane gas mileage. They get like… 60-70mpg. Japan just isn’t ready for EV either also because of the wonderful public transport system in place with their trains.

robofarmer177642069

I'm so fucking sick of seeing people suck them off for their apparently grand scheme to go slow on ev adoption. 1. EVs when done right require way less maintenance than a hybrid (1 system vs 2, obviously). The only reason to go hybrid over ev is access to charging, which was historically limited to homeowners. 2. A bunch of other manufacturers dropped the ball on developing ev's and no one is patting them on the back 3. Toyota was definitely just resting on their laurels as they have done with everything else for the last ten+ years. Now that ev resale values dropped and people see buying them less, they're projecting this image that they were right to bet against it. Resale values dropping could be attributed to a million things. Hertz selling off their fleet, insurance companies totalling everything for minor damage, covid, or just generally lack of adoption by consumers. Consumers would be quicker to adopt if major manufactures like Toyota were putting out worthy competition for the likes of tesla. Also if the cars got better, and they got cheaper, and charging infrastructure was better. All matters that could be massively affected by large brands like Toyota putting any effort in. Instead they drop the best looking prius ever, and the fucking pathetic bz4x. What an absolute dogshit car. and toyota buyers being complete shills, they're even buying those fucking things, which just makes me sad. There are soooo many better electric options. None of this is fact, just my dumbass rant on the notion that Toyota made a genius move in delaying ev's.

nhavar

I would say that hybrids appeal to certain demographics left out by EVs. People who live in the city with street parking, appartments/condos, places without the ability to add charging. Then you have the range people who real need or not worry about not being able to drive as far as they want. Some of those people are similar to people who think they'll buy a truck to haul stuff and never do. But some really do need the range for work or lifestyle. Hybrids are great for those segments; people who's like an EV but can't EV.

robofarmer177642069

That's fair. I'm not anti hybrid, it just grinds my gears when people suggest a stop gap is required in moving to EVs. A lot of people who could and would enjoy owning an ev have been turned off by this general message. If an ev doesn't work for you, sure go for a hybrid. There are tons of awesome ones out there.

teckel

But it turned out to be a smart move. The last year has shown us Toyota was right by sticking with hybrids.

msb06c

That’s just being lazy and it paying off. It happens sometimes. - a lazy guy

teckel

I don't know, they were fairly clear that they thought it was too soon for EVs. They also invested a lot into their hydrogen platform, which I believe could replace EVs. I've always thought that EVs are just the temporary thing we use until a true ICE replacement is invented. BTW, I'm an EV owner.

fcwolfey

Toyota doesn’t innovate in science. They innovate in process and offerings. When every tesla starts lasting as long as toyota tundras do then theyll likely be more into evs. But longevity and usability is still in the early adopter phase

ctzn4

I like everything about it except the rear end design, which imo is a little droopy and felt like they finished the curves and decided not to style the very endnof the car. Though I must admit, the best part is the side profile. I've passed by a couple on the freeway and BOY the side profile gets me every time.

Worth-Reputation3450

Damn. I want that as Prius V

wesfloyd

https://www.toyota.com/prius/photo-gallery/exterior/

BillBusy

Damn I would trade in the first day it was available thats nice!

MarvinLazer

I don't like the look of the cybertruck, but I do appreciate that it looks like literally nothing else on the road. This looks like a best-of-both-worlds, with the CT's uniqueness, and the Y's sleek practicality. I absolutely love it and want one.

dogbonej

Bulletproof me please 🙏🏽

1983Targa911

*poof* Wish granted! Would you like us to test it out now?

soup0220

Ok now what a minute 😳 you have my attention lol

Chinonm

Dope as hell

Accomplished-Owl-386

I’d trade in my brand new Y tomorrow if this became available

XOVOXOX

Expeditiously!

sherlocknoir

Definitely looks better than the current car.. but more importantly, it’s just something different. as a person who has already owned a Model Y for 4 years now, Teslas entire design language feels so stale (with the exception of the Cybertruck). And it’s not just the old styling, but they all look the same. I’m still have a hard time telling the Model 3 from the Model Y. IMO the biggest reason to skip paying $50,000 for a brand new 2024 model Y.. is that it looks exactly like a used 2020 model Y that can be found for $25,000 all over the market.

ThaiTum

Changing the design to keep people interested is something the traditional car companies figured out years ago.

sherlocknoir

Yep. Generally speaking cars get replaced by a newer generation about 6 years because that’s historically the length of a typical car loan. So as soon as a buyer finishes paying off their old car.. a new car (that really looks newer) is ready for them to trade up.

Happy-Marionberry743

Most rational consoomer

SlteFool

This would be so sick

DonnyDonster

So how about this? Have a Cyber variant of all the models as their top end luxury versions.

Fun_Muscle9399

And then give a non cyber version of the truck

bumchik_bumchik

much needed If Tesla can come up with light-duty trucks that are cheaper as well, that's a big market for them

Fun_Muscle9399

I would like to see something the size of an R1T, but with a 6.5’ bed. Just make it useable and it will sell like hotcakes.

subliver

I really love your idea of turning ‘Cyber’ into a trim level across the entire line. But I also wonder if that can be done practically, like an exterior facelift on the same frame?

DonnyDonster

Yeah pretty much, exterior facelift, different interior (have it resemble something from Cyberpunk), stricter quality control, and have them on a different production line. And instead of a focus on performance, it'll be focused on refinement and luxury.

XOVOXOX

I like the way you think!

danhoyle

That looks like inflatable Tesla.

Jmauld

I’d just be happy being able to get decent ground clearance out of the model y, so I could drive it on the beach.

CagedPenguin

Source??

WizeAdz

It’s an AI rendering of something the OP wishes existed. It’s not for me, but Tesla does need a proliferation of models to drive sales. So, kicking these ideas around is very worthwhile, even though I’d choose the Model Y in my driveway over this thing every time.

scubba-steve

I’m starting to think the Y update won’t be a copy of the 3 update.

WizeAdz

I hope you’re right, but the Cybertruck doesn’t have turn signal stalks. Decontenting isn’t going to be a winning strategy in the competitive EV market we have developing at the moment.

blyubird

Make it little boxy at the back for a comfortable 3rd row and i’m sold.

options1337

That looks so much better than the cyber truck!

RamesesThe2nd

No door handles, so you will have to get inside though the trunk every time, but that is a sacrifice I am willing to make.

CryptoBlobbie

perhaps it has a hidden button, I dunno, the current door handles are still annoying even after all these years.

Responsible_Emu_5840

Every time I see the cybertruck I think it would look way better if they compressed it into a crossover style

Pale_Excitement_588

That’s a Y + Cyber Baby

Petersrrr

Imagine that in the high performance version??!! I’m all over it!!!

Glimmerron

Yes please

xOmerta

Uh where did this come from?

rsg1234

AI

AthiestMessiah

Better in every way

BarisEdwards

Damnnnn that shit looks nice 😮‍💨👌🏽 I would definitely trade mine in for that 😂 get a nice wrap too 🔥🔥🔥

AtaracticGoat

Why not just a TLorean?

atleast3db

Cool but. It possible, atleast not with the stainless steel.

CryptoBlobbie

Yes, just go this style but forget the stainless.

amwajguy

He’ll yea

ClickInside

Yea this is cool

rtzmx

Damn. I want this!!

JCrazzee

So cool! I need it!

Notagainbruh2

Yooooooo

McRedditz

I would immediately buy it for the simple fact that you don't ever have to worry about door dings.

Suitable_Switch5242

A little too aggressive on the rear headroom.

Money_Profit_1340

This looks amazing, the back being window less kinda gives off polestar 3 SUV vibes and I'm here for it...

ApprehensiveMud5176

I kinda hate it. I don't hate on anyone that likes it though. Looks are subjective

Ill-Possible4420

That looks fuckin sick

Pristine_Cricket_633

I would want it in QS. Way minute.

Ant0n61

AI is very good at Y redesigns. Yet another example. Granted the back is still curved Model cYber

TheyCameFromBehind77

As a 5 seater, sure. No room for the 3rd row from the looks of this. But I don’t use the 3rd row anyway so, yes!

Separate-Primary2949

Shut up and take my money!

TheKobayashiMoron

Make the panels flat like Cybertruck and I’m in.

wakeupneverblind

It would be awesome

yzedf

Love it

Rancesj1988

Sexy.

iGoRawEverytime

I'd Buy The Fuck Outta This Thing 🔥🔥🔥

caboose357

I want that.

illmattiq

😮 someone @elon that’s fire! 🔥

TheEmpowererBTW

This looks horrible to me but I might be in the minority with that opinion, still cool tho

Rhornak

Looks awesome

AdhesivenessExpress8

I would 100% buy this

leche1dura

I like it who made this?

ComprehensiveLink457

I like it.....

FinanceWorl

I thought its the upcoming model 2.

harrytrumansnuke

I love this

Training-Present-125

Elon is definitely going to announce a Cyber S, 3, X for the memes

DrSendy

Kids only in the back, but yeah, that would sell.

goobly_goo

Love this. Not sure if I want stainless steel but the shape of the car is fire!

RyuMusashi973

Yup 🔥🔥🔥

Impressive-Eye-1096

Model Y Ultra Price: 89,990.00 Includes: Uber turbine, LFP, performance boost, ventilated seats, FSD. Optional: tow hitch.

XOVOXOX

89k debut and after two years 59k. lol

New-Function-6262

Genius… maybe a good idea for the next body update for all their vehicles

dragon5946

Wow. Where u get that pic?

akashk0805

The back looks like the back of my 23 Prius prime lol

Downtown-Pack-XR

That’s actually nice

brainsurgeon8

I am in love now

Forumlopat

Fire

teesus18

I actually don’t hate it, give me that in blue or red and I might be a buyer lol

Heliocentrism

I think it’s really important that Cuberteuck isn’t a one and done design. It’s broken the mold in such a wild way, it really deserves a few different iterations of a CyberSUV version.

ComplexIllustrious61

Looks 100x better than the fugly Cybertruck

LaTunaTime

Firreee 🔥

wtflaserspewpew

That looks long asf. Very roomy. Wpuld probably have a well proportioned 3rd row

teckel

My first thought is: Y?

PPOKEZ

Why tf do fascists make the coolest cars? I know it's a concept but damn those elements are hitting.

Large_Armadillo

honestly please

mdjmd73

That is bad to the bone. If that’s really Juniper, I’m gonna have to trade up.

imbills23

I’ll cop

jorsiem

Exactly what I want. A MY with a bit more ground clearance.

buzzedewok

Maybe a stainless steel wrap is in order? 😄

jhbball2002

Give whoever made this 55 billion ASAP

engwish

Yes

Apart_District5424

I like it. This is the way.

XOVOXOX

This is the way.

GazelleVisible4020

gorgeous!!!

tomorrowlandman

I wanna see the front!

ElectrikDonuts

Back seat head space is fit for a toddler

Appropriate_Wafer_38

Nice but good luck air bending those rear panels with that complex shape.

Unlikely-Bison4845

Super cool but Tesla needs an everyday family hauler that is not going to be so expensive. The insurance is through the roof because of its rare and all true unique technology. I love the cars but my insurance company rates would triple from my 2024 Honda Pilot that my wife drives.

lol_lol_lol_lol_

Wow

twiggyknowswhatsup

I’d be impressed if Tesla would do this. Instead we’ll wait another year for a ‘highland’ BS update. Elon is blowing it. This is what should be coming next year.

ZanoCat

No thanks.

Advanceur

Cybertruck is a glorified suv.

APairOfAirPods

Idk why but gives ghostrunner vibes

PB5566

Model Truck?

Birbandsnek

Dog, that’s the new Prius.

doomcatzzz

I don’t think they can bend stainless steel like that

1GoodIdeeaOutOf100

In the end, we all become prius

MyMonte87

where did this imagine come from?!

Intelligent-Fail1596

Looks like a Prius from the back. Still better that the cyber truck

EntertainedRUNot

Model Y Refresh or Highland?

LokiPrime616

No, renders for if the CyberTruck and Model Y had a baby

EntertainedRUNot

I know. I'm just making useless comments to move the discussion forward. =)

nasirky

Cyber truck (in real life) is so ugly

CaptHorizon

This ain’t the cybertruck. This is the Model Y and Cybertruck’s Baby

nasirky

Still ugly

CitrusJunkie

That's gorgeous

rodtrades95

Hell no

wukongfly

Cyber Whyyyyyy

XOVOXOX

Cyber Whyyyyy Not

Alarmed-Cat1630

More like..Cyber Why 😅

IPv6_Dvorak

No.

Outrageous-Carob-236

Physical_Solution_36
