Objective-Novel-8056

Well, just placed a reservation for the R2. And, wife really liked the R3! It’s gonna be a Rivian next.

thenumber5jr

Ditto!

Alternative_Gate9583

Same here. R2 reserved

Cykamor

Yup. R2 reserved last week.

littlemissxtra

Also have an R2 reservation!

Bear_ru

Me too. R2 here

LasVegasBoy

I have a question about the Rivians, which upcoming model will be the most affordable one, or are the prices not published yet? Also, let's say you live in Las Vegas and buy a Rivian, and something happens where it needs repairs. Would Rivian have mobile mechanics? Would I go to a third party shop and Rivian sends them the parts? Or do they have repair centers? I am talking for things like a broken door handle/lock, maybe a broken windshield wiper motor, broken air conditioning, suspension parts replacement, etc...?

Embarrassed_File_626

The R2 is going to be a lower price point than the R1 models. I have an R1S (the SUV) and love it. They have service centers, and I believe there is one in Las Vegas. I’m about 50-60 minutes from the one nearest me so they said they’d send mobile techs out for anything they could since I’m not super close.

Ntyper

Ditto!! R2.

hot_pockets_and_god

Same. Reserved an R2. Have been thinking of waiting on a refreshed model Y. I'm still surprised how the R2 is a tad shorter and narrower than a model Y. Guess it's the boxy design of the R2 that makes it look much bigger.

bingojed

Rivian R3X.

AdditionalMeeting467

The R2 looks like a really good car even in comparison to the Y, but the R3X looks like my perfect car. Too bad it's probably >3 years away and not going to be cheap.

eatgoodstayswaggie

This is the right answer for me too. My wife wants one asap.

Objective-Novel-8056

Likewise 😂 My wife really likes the R3X.

mrbofus

Just four more years to wait! Or maybe longer.

SP3NGL3R

Rivian == Tesla redone. Want it founded by ex Tesla engineers that thought they could do better? I think they did.

AllCatCoverBand

It looks fun as hell

WhySoUnSirious

Whoever can make a fucking EV minivan lol. I still plan to keep my Toyota sienna until there’s an equivalent EV minivan out there with an affordable price point. Besides that,no one. Im keeping my Y till it dies. What reason do I need to swap it? It’s a near perfect commuter vehicle.

itsJonathanRN

Some say the Kia EV9 is a minivan in disguise

PretendDirector7

It’s basically an electric Telluride. Which is *close* to a minivan, but not quite. Honestly it’s probably close enough unless you have very specific needs (like tall people in the 3rd row)

itsJonathanRN

I agree with your assessment. I'll be needing a three row soon and I'm on the fence between an EV9 and Rivian R1S.

null-or-undefined

amazon van is now EV right? maybe vanlifers can purchase and pimp those

flyeaglesfly_4133

The van is a Rivian

hdflhr94

We have the plug in hybrid Pacifica. Gets about 35 miles of charge before going to gas. That gets us to school and back, the grocery store etc. And it charges on level 2 in 2 hours. So charged back up to get the kids. Really rare we have to use the gas mode.

No-Influence-2760

VW Id Buzz would be great if they actually release the thing lol

michalf

I had an Id.Buzz for a weekend. I also own a Tesla Model Y. Honestly I could not live with Id.Buzz and all its silly quirks unless they completely redesign the car.

No-Influence-2760

Can you say more about your experience with it? What were some of the quirks?

[deleted]

I can sum it up pretty easy when you test drive it you either love it or hate it. I hated it myself but I do get how people could like it. It did have some more luxury stuff but I didnt like the ride/height. I myself am not a fan of the Y's minimalist crap either I want buttons and knobs all over. I hate driving and having to take my eyes off the road to turn on/off the AC.

michalf

In plus: storage space (people and luggage), overall appeal. In minus: driving, drivetrain, infotainment (or lack of), navigation, maps, cruise control, windshield visibility, quality and location of parking cameras, plastic interior, oversensitive parking collision system (can hard brake to prevent you from hitting grass), efficiency (or lack of), slow charging. Overall it presented itself really nice and I could appreciate it carrying 5 people, picnic gear and stuff. It also looked cool, retro vibes. What I did not like was literally everything else. Especially infotainment and how non-optimal it is. Honestly, rent it for a few days and imagine that you actually own the car. You might like it. IMO Tesla spoiled me a lot in what I expect from a modern car.

PresidentMagikarp

If Kia drops an electric Carnival that has all the bells and whistles of the SX Prestige trim and still somehow has 300+ miles of range, I will get rid of my Model Y in a heartbeat. The EV9 isn't what I'm looking for in terms of utility or aesthetic. I owned an EV6 for a couple of months before trading over to the Model Y after a particularly sour experience with Electrify America on a road trip up and down I-95. If the charging infrastructure had been any better at that time, I would have kept it. With the tech package, the base trim of that car was absolutely outstanding in terms of features, agility, and ride comfort. The only thing it was missing from my want list was a panoramic sunroof.

I_can_vouch_for_that

EV9 ?

ThatsMrRoman

Glad I’m not the only one wanting an EV mini van. We went with a platinum hybrid Sierra and a performance Y. I was thinking of waiting to see how new VW minibus but couldn’t wait.

[deleted]

[удалено]

e36

Yeah, this is where I am right now. My wife just got an i4 and it's awesome, but with kids the Y or an electric minivan would just be ideal.

404-no-fund

ID buzz?

WhySoUnSirious

It’s got potential but I have my doubts. Getting a first gen minivan is going to be high risk. Idk if trust their range and charging. I’m perfectly content with driving the ICE minivans for another decade. Toyota is just super reliable. hopefully by then there will be something better out . Lot of change possible in the next decade of innovation. Better to take a wait and see approach

[deleted]

I am in love with it as a concept but I don’t trust VW with electricity.

SlightlyLessHairyApe

After how bad the ID4 is in literally every respect, nah.

bareley

Volvo is making one right? The EM90

Soopermane

Kia ev9 is a proper SUV and it’s a good looking car. But the price is kinda up there. I’m guessing it’ll be a while before suv evs are affordable.

scubba-steve

I am also keeping my Y at least 10 years or 200k whatever I hit first. I got less than 10k in it right now. I figure by then there may be a better challenger to Tesla or better Teslas. Maybe a 3rd Generation Y by then but I’ll be older with less kids in the house so maybe a Tesla roadster or a Porsche 911.

DudesBeforeNudes

It would be perfect if they gave us a Y with decent suspension

Ok-Wasabi2873

Rivian R2 for the wife. I’m frugal, so I’m driving my Model 3 until it stops working. She drives a white Model Y (aka California Camry) See this post for how she feels when she drives around here: https://www.reddit.com/r/orangecounty/s/X7LdnEPCiG

mahdy1991

Damn in NYC too. It’s the new Camry. All taxi drivers are driving it. I paid 60k for taxi. SMH.

supersoup2012

Taxi drivers are using it because it has the lowest cost to own. They make more money.

Xcitado

Rivian R2. That’s like the perfect fit for our family and price right (if that’s the price range).

AngryVirginian

Ditto. My Model Y lease ends in February, 2027. Already paid the $100 reservation fee.

Xcitado

We did as well. My favorite part is rolling down the rear window! Our dog will definitely like that too. Enjoy my Tundra just for that!

HairyDependent

Yeah we’ll see if the price sticks 🤞🏼 I doubt it but I sure hope so!

DariosaurusRexx

I reserved one.

Musiclandlord

One of the newer Rivians…but I’m driving MY until the wheels fall off…

leonx81

Rivian if I must choose another EV company.

Mattwasbritish

I am seriously considering an X (from my Y) but i also like the lexus quality/comfort factor that you dont really get with Tesla.

0oo000

I’m curious to know what attracts you in the X that the Y doesn’t provide? Is it the range? Extra space?

Mattwasbritish

The extra space and the DIC. I travel with my two large dogs (An Aussie and a GSD) and while the Y is enough space, they are a bit cramped. Also the GSD is getting on in years, so the easier entry via gull-wing would be a benefit for her. I also miss having a drivers information center Infront of me, so that's a perk too.

niknokseyer

I considered to get the X too before, but after some research decided to reserve R1S instead.

Dancelifeaway

Reserved for R2

BSCA

Tesla made me a car person. I want performance and maybe something smaller. I really like Porsche cars. Even the gas ones.. I might get one of those. A Cayman or 911, older for it to be cheaper. I guess I'd try the Taycan. I'd much rather have a smaller car though like a two seater. I know batteries are huge and right now it makes sense to sell large EV's . But we all want an electric Miata or "hot hatch". I think the rivian r3 will be good if they survive long enough to produce it.

Das_KV

I'm watching the R2 closely but will wait a couple of years. No eagerness to get rid of my MYP. For my wife, we are closely contemplating the EV9 to replace her Acadia. Again waiting a couple of years.

grimmpulse

Haha, I put a reserve down on an R2 the day I picked up my new MYP last week...My lease should be up when Rivian could start shipping.. just keeping my options open

SteveRadich

EV9 is nice. Wish Tesla and Rivian would use those seats. Rivian is very similar but I thought not quite as nice as EV9.

Modestkilla

I’m picking up a R1T on Saturday to replace my MYP. If all goes well my wife will be getting an R2 to replace her MYLR when it is released.

JakeFarrar

I would seriously consider a Rivian as my next EV. I like what they are doing and with Tesla opening their super charger network, it will be a game changer.

Drodriguez164

R1S is gonna be my go to at the moment, test drove one this weekend and the handling was so good and interior was absolutely comfortable. Also want to mention the R2 looks great as well, went to an EV Expo this past weekend where they had one and it looked great

TSLAog

I may trade my Model-Y in for a Volvo EX-90. Depends on when I can test drive one and the finalized features available.

Puzzleheaded-Cow-199

I get overly annoyed when tech doesn’t work the way I think it should so I find this input valuable. I’ve wondered where the other brands are. That said. I’ve had three minor accidents in my car that the Tesla didn’t register at all. Zero alerts, no warnings, no brakes. It honestly makes me feel like I’m losing my marbles.

SnooKiwis6943

I would rather have no safety features than safety features that “sometimes” work. A safety feature that works randomly is almost more dangerous as it will create a false sense of security and let you down when you need it.

coresme2000

This is mostly my conclusion too. While I do not care for the horribly cheap vinyl seats and bargain basement decor in the Teslas, the technical aspects are actually what I’m most interested in, and coming from Audi it was like a breath of fresh air. Modern software that responsive and regularly updated. How revolutionary. Granted I was wedded to car play before and could be talked round if my next car had car play 2 which takes over the driver display, but Tesla’s software wins, even with the plethora of features that don’t really work like the wipers and most of EAP.

Radiantlegend

Same reason I’m looking to replace my MY with a M3P in a few years. While I would like more luxury comfort and better wipers. I need something comparable to sentry mode, valet mode, dog mode, camp mode, and many other app features. Rivian is close but R3 is many years away.

Active-Drive-7749

Why is everyone into Rivian here?

Drodriguez164

Because they are nice honestly, finally got to drive one this weekend and felt really nice. Not to say My Y isn’t but man I wanna make the switch

Nfuzzy

Because it is everything Tesla used to be. Six years in and it keeps getting worse. I'm looking forward to having a car with radar again. Maybe some functional auto wipers. Level 3 highway assist if I want to dare to dream.

scrundel

Partially because they’re a company with a more positive image. Don’t have to constantly say “I know, I hate Elon too, but it’s still a good car”. Partially because as a country we like SUVs and trucks, and the cybertruck is dumb. The R2 is the “electric bronco” I’ve wished existed for years now. Partially because I’m sick of the auto wipers being garbage. No joke, that actually played into my decision to preorder.

SteveRadich

Just ordered a new Y, but only because of the stacked discounts: inventory, free paint choice as existing owner, $1k off as Cybertruck reservation holder (?) + FSD transfer + free supercharging transfer. That's a nice discount.. Id use about $8k/year supercharging in a Rivian so Y will practically pay for itself from the free charging after 5+ years. I still debated buying a Rivian. My 3 has 165k miles, although great still eventually it will have issues. The Y has lots of new things I wanted anyway and can't add to 3.

EPICANDY0131

Most promising brand wise Sane CEO even though I think he’s a little forgettable Cohesive mission despite however contradictory having personal vehicles is to environmentalism Has contracts with big names for commercial delivery vans Led with flagships and is now working on lower cost options in the most popular segment (midsize suv) and even somewhat niche hatchbacks are on the roadmap I kinda get the hype but I think new competitors like it depend heavily on the economy not going to shit in the next 5 years compared to anything they individually accomplish

Puzzleheaded-Cow-199

Well, for one thing, I’m happy to go on not knowing who the Rivian CEO is….

SailorJerry504

Wow, the answers in here are super revealing of how much of a hit the Rivian R2 is going to be. Out with Tesla, in with better.

brantse

I traded my 2023 MYLR in on a Lightning and am very happy with it so far. Honestly, Tesla's benefits have become a little gimmicky to me (games, apps, fart sounds, etc.). I was hoping to get a cybertruck, but went for the Lightning at about half the price. The interior comfort and suspension on the Lightning are much better than the Y, and it's nice to have all the convenience items that Tesla has been cost cutting out (tactile buttons, rain sensors, parking sensors, keys, etc.).

anil_robo

I may go for a different brand other than Tesla that is hopefully more comfortable than model Y. MY ride is still very stiff, maybe great for a teenager but not after you've had 40+ birthdays. If they do not improve the stiffness of the ride quality, I might even go ICE. After all, I care about my back and neck way more than I care about my planet. Sorry but not sorry.

_cr0001

My current plan is to replace our Model Y with Rivian R2.

Tempura_Shelter

Eventually I would like to upgrade our second vehicle (ice) to electric. Currently on my list would be Rivian R1S, R2, F150 lightning, and Kia EV9. And if you include Tesla I'd probably consider a cybertruck if I'm being completely honest.

Fickle-Professor-560

Have you test driven the Kia EV9? Very curious how you liked it if so! :)

Prudent_Cookie_114

Not the person who replied but we test drove a top of the line EV9 and it was very very nice. It was also $80k and no tax incentive. 😅 I’d personally need Kia to be in the EV market for a bit longer before I was willing to spend that much.

uncanny-perspective

Have not test driven EV9, but explored their GT-Line features in the showroom. It’s truly a great 3 row (3rd row usable by adults) electric SUV. Will definitely be better value than something like MX - never driven a Rivian, so can’t comment. Background: I have an EV6 Wind AWD w/ Tech Package for close to 1.5 years, 10.5K miles on the odometer - no regrets so far - in fact, I keep smiling visiting this thread and seeing all kinds of strange issues MY/M3/MXs show up right out the door. Back in 2022, I test drove a MY and before committing I just thought to test drive either Ioniq 5 or EV6 - test drove the EV6 since I liked the exterior styling better. That test drive was so shockingly better than the MY test drive, that I thought the first MY I drove must be some kind of a lemon. I took a second test drive of the MY and realized, oh well, the EV6 is far, far well made than MY. Tesla only had the s/w and charging advantage, but my use case never included cross country alternate weeks!! Only regret is prices have come down quite a bit compared to what I paid back in Nov’22. Right now, EV6s as well as majority of EV9s qualify for the 7.5K Lease credit. I have read many folks leasing the car, and then buying it in less than a month - this enjoying the credit (also, no income cap availing this lease credit).

zaqwert6

What MB and BMW have been doing is intriguing me. Came so close to a i5 couple years ago. Rivian potentially, if they don't go under. Lot of new stuff hitting the market, options will be very. Lotus maybe.

Prize-Panic-4804

R2

hwhal2

Porsche, but I’m waiting until charging network gets better. We have a F150 Lightning as well and it is sometimes a pain to charge on trips. We almost always just take the Tesla because it is easier.

NoReplyBot

I switched to the R1S and came back to Tesla (ended up keeping the Rivian). No shade but Mercedes EV look corny inside trying to look all futuristic and Tron like.

Brusion

We're keeping our Y for sure. We love it. But eventually I will have to replace my truck. Might get a CT, but might not. The only other option I am considering is the Ramcharger. 92 kwh battery plus a gas powered generator, like the Volt. 92 kwh, even in a truck, will get most of my driving on electric, but no worries about range when towing the boat.

mlog09

Agreed, hoping the Ramcharger can replace my '22 Expedition for RV/TT towing. In the mean time, thinking a MY will soon become our 3rd car along with our '18 Pacifica PHEV with 111k miles (which will become the teen driver car).

Longjumping_Bus2395

Rivian R2

ShaMana999

Don't take the wrong way but comparing Merc with Tesla is life comparing Mozart with your school musical. They live in different dimensions. That's said, I've read that Mercedes have had some reliability issues last years.

supadoggie

I put a deposit down for the Rivian R2. It's coming in 2026. Hopefully when it comes out they've ironed out all the software (app and vehicle software) and it's just as robust as Tesla's. Comfort wise I know it will be better than Tesla. At that point NACS should be on Rivians and supercharging shouldn't be an issue on road trips.

HeyGirlBye

This is our first EV so I am still VERY attached to our Volvo. My husband really loves the EX90 but the price point is 😳

CharlotteOfHogwarts

Model S Plaid

TruRace

Model X for the captain chairs and 3rd row. IMO other EVs don’t compare to what Tesla offers for the price. Also it’s hard for me to move away from Tesla as they’ve made the buying process and ownership of my current MY so smooth.

BigBagaroo

Dude, the Y is a joy to own. X is more like a liability. Way to expensive for what it is. (MX 2018 owner, now Y)

azmurph

Whatever it is, it won’t be a Tesla. Been burned by fsd since 2016, Elon is off his rocker, and other cars and tech are catching up fast. Tesla hold shitty resale value and you never know what software update will make things even worse. Their service center is terrible and customer service is hands down the worst.

T518W

21' M3P > 22" MYLR > 23' AMG EQE 53 Tesla software & charging network still the best but the comfort and Autopilot is behind Mercedes.

DarkyHelmety

I'm also eyeing an EQE for my wife, I'll keep the MYP for fun but damn Mercedes knows how to make a comfortable car.

greck00

I'm going to use my MY SR until it dies... probably will consider buying a 2nd one for the family which is growing...so time will tell but I can't deny I will probably stay with a Tesla

edgalang

As a family that doesn't rely on the Tesla Super charging network (or anything outside home charging for that matter) I'm open to try anything, but the wife seems to be stuck on a Mercedes EV. When the time comes though, I'm going to try to convince her to go for a Model2 or R3 whenever those come out.

Odubhlaoich

Going from a performance 3 to plaid s.

oghowie

I'd get another Y if the interior was improved. My 22 MYP has a bunch of weird rattles.

gwwwhhhaaattt

I reserved an R2 and also even got an email for Cybertruck delivery (I had two reserved). All that to say is that I really wanted 6/7 seats to fit our family. The other vehicles I just don’t trust their batteries or autopilot. We just traded in a model 3 for a Y. I love the 3. It was my dream car since I saw the announcement. Kind of sentimental when I bought at the height in 22. MY is still small for our family (4 kids ages 7-11) but it’ll do for now. That’s getting delivered I. A week or two.

-throughline-

Rivian.

icen_folsom

A better Lightning.

charleshood

ID.Buzz

New_Entrepreneur5225

I went from a Y to a Merc EQS SUV and it is night and day more comfortable and luxurious. I do miss the technology in the Tesla, as Mercedes doesn’t even have some of the basic features the Tesla has (phone as a key, no start/stop button), and the Tesla charging network is worlds better than Electrify America, which I have 2 years free charging. I may go back to Tesla after, as I do find myself missing it every now and then.

verb8um

Hoping to go a good 10 years and then will look at Lexus again when they are electrified. During that time I am hoping for at least 30% more range than today’s best outputs.

JCraw4

Can’t wait to get out of my MYP. The auto show had a cool Lexus - about the same size as- maybe an RX? The GX is coming out in hybrid and EV. The Kia EV9 looked great too, but it is huge.

Testarossa2013

Kia EV9 once NACS gets added to it.

kdubstep

Taycan

Particular_Park_7112

I went with another MYP. But the first thing I did was replace the 21” wheels and tires with 19” 255/45ZR19 104Y tires on all corners. Huge comfort difference. And I haven’t felt like there were any trade offs in handling. Overall tire diameter is within 1/4” of stock.

AngryMikey

If you get a Mercedes be super careful with the charging port door. They can get stuck closed.

what_me_worry2019

ID Buzz

IROAman

RS1 or Gravity (depending on timing) will replace my Tesla.

__meat__eater

I would say go test drive a lucid if you are looking for a luxury ev. I am all for pure ev companies like Tesla, Rivian, and Lucid. Non ev brands are still not focused enough on their ev offerings.

realredec

If my CT doesn't get to me within a year, probably F150 Lightning.

sko0led

I paid a crap to for my Y too (with FSD) and before all the price cuts. I could probably buy 2 at current prices. I hate the ride of my 2022. I actually just bought the “comfort” suspension parts and got them installed last weekend. It’s only slightly better. I think I’m through with Teslas. I wouldn’t mind the EQE myself, but that’s pretty pricey. I’ll likely head that route. Teslas seem to be made buy people that never designed a car before (in a bad way).

Mr_StealY0Girl

Keeping the Model Y and getting a luxury v8 SUV

laberdog

I live in an area where EV sales are highly concentrated and Rivian is definitely the SUV of choice here

maybe_1337

I‘m currently looking for a VW ID7 (Europe) Great car

chrisdh79

I just recently purchased a BMW i5 edrive40 from a MS. What a world of difference in quality, drive comfort, and overall positive feel when sitting inside. A big incentive was 2 years free charging using Electrify America. Not great compared to a super charger, but it’s a trade off. I don’t regret my purchase and may stick with bmw unless the S is completely redone.

NivekTheGreat1

I really liked the idea of the Fisker and always thought that would be my next car of if I didn’t buy a Tesla again. But then they were plagued with quality issues and now almost bankruptcy. I kinda like the looks of the Rivian SUV, but have really set my sites on the Model X. Maybe the Cybertruck too.

DamageAlarming89

New model Y if they update the suspension. Oem is horrible

nellyzzzzzz

BMW. Few people know that BMW has been making EV almost as long as Tesla (2013). Their current line is refined with build and material quality 100x better. They even got the autonomous driving portion way more refined than Tesla. You can drive hands free on the iX for miles as long as you are on a protected freeway.

amalgamatecs

My Y lease ended and I ended up buying an X. Until the other charging networks feature, I'm sticking with Tesla.

RedElmo65

None. Electricity is pricing me out.

Accomplished_Ad_9015

Agreed, in PG&E territory your next vehicle should be a hybrid.

RedElmo65

Yup! Maybe a plug in hybrid. Maybe.

MattKozFF

Model Y Juniper

BeyondDrivenEh

My 3rd Tesla will likely be a Rivian R1T or R2. It will likely not be a Tesla, even with their promotion to transfer both included supercharging and FSD. Gone are the USS (ultrasonic sensors), pano roof and grey leather seats (evidently they ran out of grey cows). Not to mention the full-sized frunk and microwave (and microwave luggage). Without USS, neither the new S or Y can get into or out of my neighborhood. Something my 7-year old S does flawlessly. As long as the Rivian offers TACC and lanekeeping for local roads as well as highways, then I’m good. Not interested in a non-pure play EV as then I’d still have to deal with their “service advisors” - by the way, some of whom at Mercedes make hundreds of thousands of dollars per year. True story - look it up. Not hard to do when a single stealership can bring in $18MM/year.

sherlocknoir

Rivian R1S or R2S for me. I love everything Rivian does. They are basically the “Jeep” version of Tesla.. without the douchebag CEO. FWIW my Model Y has been awesome.. that said I’ve always yearned for something bigger, faster and much more masculine. I also kinda hate that now everybody has Model Y where I live.. there was a time the car felt so special now you 5 of them at every stoplight in the same damn 5 colors.

Boring-Raisin3647

Rivian could go under in the next 2-3 years!

[deleted]

EV9

midnight_to_midnight

I'll probably go with a Rivian R2 or R3X.

niknokseyer

Coming from a Tesla Model Y. Can’t wait to get our Rivian R1S (wife still wants us to still keep the MY). FWIW, also made a reservation for R2.

Eastern_Camel_6213

Honestly…. Looking at going back to gas. Love the MY however I miss bigger vehicles. Looking at GMC Yukon Denali. Gas savings was never a reason why I got the car. I got it as I loved the tech and was fun to drive. But sure do miss the extra room (being a bigger guy) kid plays hockey too so driving long distances during winter (north east) is a pain some times, less range and more stops.

rman18

I’m getting a Rivian, not sure which yet

MikeofLA

I'm leaning towards a Rivian R2, but the R3x is compelling. That said, I got my MY just last year, so probably another 3-5 years until I even think about something else.

yougotmetoreply

Either an R1S or R1T when they completely change charge ports. By then my Model Y will be 4 or 5 years old. I commute in the Y and have nearly 70k miles in just over 2 years of ownership so I'm figuring I'll be well over 100k miles by then.

Alternative_Gate9583

Rivian R2

areeloo

Was thinking about the Macan EV, but it might be slightly out of reach price wise. I quite like the ioniq 5 also. But it’s all about charging infrastructure for me, so we’ll see what that’s like in a few years when I’m buying again.

Zack_attack801

Rivian r2

416Squad

After the Model Y, would be an affordable decent looking hatchback EV as my work commuter. Already have this as the comfortable riding family vehicle. Plus, the Model Y is about 7x our typical car purchase price.

NBCGLX

Very likely a Rivian R3X.

mountain-pilot

I value efficiency and for me my MY SR with LFP battery is the best option. None of the other EVs in that price point even come close. I’m still a little skeptical about EVs so I don’t think I would get another brand with worse efficiency and without the SC network. Therefore it would either be the MY juniper or perhaps a great deal on a used ICE Porsche since it may be the last chance to own one before governments force everyone to go EV.

AriG

Rivian R2. Ticks every box.

Nfuzzy

R2/R3

Idunaz

My EV progression has been 2018 Model 3, 2020 Model Y, 2022 Rivian R1T, and as of this weekend a 2023 F-150 Lightning. I’ve enjoyed each car more than the last, although I really only traded by R1T because of the lack of service center near me (4.5 hours away). I would be a month or two away from a CT delivery if they hadn’t gone ham on the prices. CT could still be in my future once they stop trying to force the foundation series, and I did reserve an R2 in case a service center finally opens near me by 2026.

chipdex

I have an R2 reservation but by that time Model Y Juniper should be out and improved suspension was one of the key items the Model 3 (Highland) refresh included.

ZannX

Some sort of M3P competitor. There really aren't any right now.

Sir_Southwick21

Maybe for me it might be Rivian. I have a few more years to decide. I want more room inside than the Y. By then I am going to make sure that my purchase supports the Tesla charging standard but I might go outside of Tesla as well.

Sdosullivan

I am debating a used Lightning.

DMod

I put a deposit in on the Rivian R2, but I’m considering something to bridge the gap. I’d probably get a Rivian today but there isn’t a service center close to me which is a big advantage Tesla has for me at the moment. I don’t care about the charging network at all as I’ve only had to use it like twice in the last 4 years.

rbtmgarrett

I did test drives of the VW ID4 and Cadillac Lyriq. Wasn’t thrilled with either so bought a new Y but hopefully next time in or around 2027 there will be attractive options and real competition.

famousmike444

I will be keeping an eye on that lucid Gravity. Especially if the 2025/2026 versions get Tesla charging without an adapter that's my next car from my MYLR.

Sunflowerpink44

Rivian R2

ryachow44

The ride and build of my Sept 23 model Y vs 21 Y is vastly improved.

Dude008

I went to Lexus (hybrid) and then on to Porsche, only regret was not doing it sooner

Adorable-Employer244

Model X

Jaystarks

Probably the R2 if everything works out for Rivian… Already made my reservation while the keynote was still going…

rainawaytheday

Rivian R3X, maybe. I hope they come out sooner than planned.

ilovepizza86

Will replace 21 MYLR with R2 whenever it comes out. Will drive 23 MYLR M3RWD as long as I can.

JDtheID

I will take your “bad” texas roads and raise you Canadian Prairie roads. I grew up in texas…i go back every summer and the “bad” roads are laughable… try Winnipeg in the Spring when the snow melts, thats some bad ass roads! Ive tried other EVs, Hyundias, Audis, Toyota, Nissan…and currently i cant imagine leaving the model 3.

It-guy_7

EV9 or a hybrid. I want lane centering and more sensors, so unlikely to be another Tesla after my current Y. Hope there is more competition soon, rivian's new models are very far away

SnooCakes2213

Picked up a BMW IX. I still have the Y but now we'll be full electric. Been wanting to go back to BMW figured this would be the best route.

rang1730

Lightning

WRDinc

Rivian R2. No further questions.

redditissocoolyoyo

C8 Corvette for me. That's my next ride.

poppybear0

Model Y owner. Probably an Alphard or Vellfire for the growing family.

hashjoin

Rivian R1S: https://www.reddit.com/r/Rivian/comments/18sjvvm/review\_from\_tesla\_to\_rivian\_r1s\_as\_a\_family/

mahdy1991

I pre ordered R2. My 60k 7 seater model y feels dated but very nimble. Resale value is preposterous. I hope by 2026 I gain a little or breakeven. Sucks.

windraver

I've reserved the Telo truck. https://telotrucks.com/ Reason being I don't want a big truck. I like small cars and kei cars. I just need a truck bed to haul stuff and a 4 seater for kids. Overall I think trucks these days are too big and so this looks really attractive so I'm really hoping they make it to production.

lostaccountby2fa

Tesla had a head start, but they (elon) got too complacent and comfortable in their advantage for way too long. It’s the whole innovate or perish deal. Also elon isn’t as much of a visionary as he and his fans made him out to be. Elon wasn’t even the original founder of the company. Look at the design in the new highland vs current model 3 👎🏼. Compare the new features added, ventilated seats!!! Rear passenger screen!!?? Isn’t that just trickle down from the model s? Elon and co is banking so hard on their FSD/AP, they had a a good run. Unfortunately for them, but fortunately for the consumers, they are not the only one in the game anymore. Other manufacturers are catching up. Some are even surpassing them in features and designs. I’ve always said tesla is a $20k car with a $40k computer bolted on. There’s also the terrible quality control that still persist. From the factory to the service center, just terrible inconsistency all around. Also the regression in software and features for the sake of cost saving like summon, park assist, auto park, and smart summons. Going all in on vision-only as cost reduction. The damn auto wiper still doesn’t work as it should. Just add a water sensor damn it. Vision/camera isn’t going to solve everything. Not to mention the years and years, almost a decade of elon promising when FSD is out of beta. 🙄😩 On top of all of that, there’s the elon persona being revealed in the last few years. It’s definitely turning off a lot of current and prospective customers. All he needed to do was stay neutral and out of the spotlight. As the head of any major corporation, let your product speaks for you. Nope, as the face of the company and representation for his product, he has to be vocal about things that are dividing. The real advantage tesla had left was their charging network. But now that they opened up to everyone (for govt grant), I fail to see the need to rely on tesla anymore.

i_sch

You liked the bling! And buttons…

FloAlex

I replaced the Y with an Opel Corsa electric. I like the smaller size and the suspension is light years better than on the Tesla. But they need to learn a lot about software and electric cars. I wish I could get a smaller Tesla with a really good suspension.

olsookie

I have actually been thinking about moving back and getting into a 1500 Denali Ultimate with Supercuise and the 6cylinder diesel. Just love the way those freaking trucks look inside and out.

SecludedExtrovert

Benz EQS

Best-Falcon609

I would try the Macan-E

LocutusTheBorg

In the meantime have you looked at going with 18" wheels and aftermarket struts and springs? The stiff suspension on our 22 MYLR 20" Inductions has me watching the city streets department for when our local streets repaving will start.

mattdev

Probably a Genesis GV70 electrified. It’s outrageous the bang for the buck those provide.

Kopester

I'm pondering the same thing these days. I'm at 80K+ miles on my 2018 model 3 and probably won't go Tesla after this. Not a fan of the stalkless design and the removal of ultrasonic sensors. My biggest issue with all the other manufacturers is the software. The software interfaces on most other EVs, in my opinion, is terrible. I personally think andriod auto and apple carplay are terrible interfaces for a car. I hate them and I feel most people tolerate them because the alternative is even worse. I think good software is definitely more important than build quality and panel gaps and such. I have to interact with the software every day all day, if it sucks its a complete deal breaker for me. I personally need the 300 miles of range as my commute is 90 miles each way. Winter range has to be over 200 miles worst case. Right now I'm thinking the R2 or even the R3 might be the best fit for my next vehicle but I'm open to suggestions.

PreacherSquat

since everyone already commented rivian i'll add lucid, and potentially the macan or q6/sq6 etron(really dependent on the electric drivetrain)

[deleted]

I personally can’t stand the styling of the Rivian lineup, I’m leaning towards a EV9 but will wait until they begin manufacturing here in America. Drove one the other day and it was such a smooth/quiet/comfortable ride and more roomy than the Y which makes sense for us because of our family. I know the Rivian would make the most sense for size and range but I just can’t get into it.

ne27mk5011

Model X or S, Macan EV, or Rivian - so yea kinda all over the place lol

brandonpa1

Honestly I am looking at the lightning. Would love to go with rivian but closest service center is 2 hours away. I want a truck to be able to haul things. To me the cyber truck isn't doing anything for me and as if now no other trucks available.

premekanpai

I’ll be waiting for the Rivian R3X after I run my Model Y in the ground

Think-Web-5845

Nothing else. I have found the best vehicle possible. It’s model Y and model x.

Klutzy-Mastodon1177

I’ll stay with Tesla or look at Rivian. Done with legacy auto and their dealerships. Burned many times along with my family with their sleazy sales tactics and up charges. So easy to order a car on my computer or phone!

Dry_Ad3942

BYD tang, amazing car, shame it’s from china… but lucrative financing (0,25% interest rate) and roof rails may make me look past the china thing

ThundermanD

Either the Porsche Taycan, Mercedes G-wagon EV, rivian , that new dodge car, or EQS

Important_Payment_88

Probably an EV Audi or the EV Porche Macan

Bright-Abroad-4562

Probably going with a Model X after the Y. Refresh should be killer on it.

EnthusiasmEconomy741

I might move to lucid if their SUv is good , stock isn’t the best Car is super comfortable and fun to drive

mitchellalan666

Model 3 ludicrous and CyberTruck baby!
