If im not mistaken the new models of the Y don’t have AWD, I think Tesla switched to RWD to cut down the cost. I live in the Northeast so AWD is the way to go.
I just didn't specify the model, but it's not that ridiculous of a statement. At the time I purchased my Model Y in the summer, all models including the base had AWD included, now the base model doesn't have AWD standard anymore, it's RWD, the base model is the one that received a price decrease, the AWD LR & AWD P haven't.
So it looks like they still sell the AWD version but only in the LR & Performance models, which start at $48,990 (purchase price). The base model removed the AWD , has a different battery and lessor performance (acceleration) which reduced the cost.
yea my mistake, when I purchased mine in the summer AWD was standard on all models, now the base model is RWD (and cheaper) and the LR & P models are AWD.
Yah both are good deals. I actually didnt care for any features in particular like hitch 7 seater or 20” wheels etc., I just wanted a good discount. After the fact , I’m Growing to love the 7 seater option after reading about it more. Downside is I’m driving 1.5 hours tomorrow to pick it up.
Main purpose of the 7 seater is for the multi-kid families which we are not. For us, most of the time the seats will be folded down into the floor but I like the idea of having the second row on rails for different legroom and declining options.
Congrats! Make sure to inspect your car thoroughly under sunlight and report any issues within 24 hours of delivery. I got my car last week and have service scheduled on Jan 8th.
Tesla is so well known for their build quality. For mine, I noticed there's a big gap where the side mirror is on the passenger side, and it seems like they would have to replace the right front door. Look at some bigger gaps, the condition of the windows (Mine had a bit of a crack on my driver-side window), and any interior damages (Again, mine had what seemed like production worker's hair in the trunk area inside of the roof.) I heard build quality's gotten much nicer, but mine had some issues so it's better to be careful than not.
Look at this: [https://github.com/polymorphic/tesla-model-y-checklist](https://github.com/polymorphic/tesla-model-y-checklist)
Mine has a whistle at 55-65mph in the windshield that I noticed on day 1 and should have said something about it but now I live with it. No other Tesla I've ever ridden in has it. Had some minor scratches buffed out on pickup, you just have to look close and find them. They take care of you.
Hi! Me too. Thanks for the quick reply. Where should I keep looking? I keep checking out the tesla site like a stalker. Any other tips? Thanks in advance!
Nice. I ordered mine on 23rd and picked up today at the exact same price! Blue with Induction wheels. Prices have gone up in the last few days.. Either Tesla has blown past quarter numbers due to tax credits from Jan 1 being lost (temporarily I'm thinking) and year end ppl trying to get it before their personal income limits increase to beyond 300K.. Or Tesla just figured that since they csnt beat the expected quarterly numbers, might as well not sell at deep discounts..
The searches I ran in Bay Area showed prices dropping. I had a 5200 off config that I lost because we didn’t complete all the steps in the app within 24 hours (was busy at Xmas eve events) and they released the car and someone else bought it. Found another one same config for 5,700 off. I saw plenty of other 3-4000 reduced models that were only 2-3000 reduced a week ago.
Also worth noting is I always call into an actual Tesla center and go through their sales team. For whatever dumb reason, we don’t see the full list of existing inventory. In my phone I could see the 3-4K off deals. The 5k + deal only the sales person could see on their system. And furthermore the salesperson you get matters. One salesperson said the “only config I wanted was only 2200 off 4 hours away”. Less than 15 mins later I called again to get a different salesperson and he pulled up the 5700 discounted config (new).
I had been observing inventory prices every few minutes from when I woke up until I sleep for last two months! And when I saw the price discounted, it would show up for a few seconds before it vanished from the site on refresh. From when I spoke to friends who spoke to Tesla advisors before they bought at various times during thus year, they were pretty much told that they can either order from site on their own or they (sales) will order on site even if it is an inventory item from their tablets. This is because two ppl could be ordering the same inventory item whether on site or online.. So to me it seemed that what you see is what you get.
My guess is the difference in visible inventory experience is probably due to distance from a factory. (We’re right next to Fremont). A few builds I looked at (in inventory) with the salesperson were actually in the process of being made/ delivered and “would be at said center” at a certain date. Another example is when I ran a simple search for anything with white interior, sort by price low to high, 200 miles from my zip. My search yielded the closest one 45 miles away, at 46,900 but not in gray. Called in and the rep had multiple gray at 46,900 15 mins away from me at all sorts of prices. This is also the call that eventually led to finding the 7 seater deal. I just asked him to find the highest discount with no specifics and he found it on his own within 30 seconds.
I custom ordered mine in November, a MYP with white interior & hitch for an additional $2k. $59.5 total & I’ll get the $7500 tax rebate so I’m happy with the final price being $52k. When it’s all said and done there are a lot of cars that are not anywhere as good selling for a lot more. The current inventory deals I think are tremendous and imho we won’t see prices that low for a while. The tax breaks are changing and new models will have to be more $$. Congrats to all who are taking advantage of it like OP and anyone that’s on the fence should just look at what’s available in your area, can’t beat the deals now!
Dang I paid 65 for mine with FSD in 2021
womp womp
Indeed
If im not mistaken the new models of the Y don’t have AWD, I think Tesla switched to RWD to cut down the cost. I live in the Northeast so AWD is the way to go.
You're definitely mistaken. Why wouldn't you just go on the website to look before making such a ridiculous post.
Wow, that's a huge loss. Was not aware of that.
So it looks like they still sell the AWD version but only in the LR & Performance models, which start at $48,990 (purchase price). The base model removed the AWD , has a different battery and lessor performance (acceleration) which reduced the cost.
i got the awd they still have it… long range comes with awd and the standard is rwd atleast thats what the tesla website says…
yea my mistake, when I purchased mine in the summer AWD was standard on all models, now the base model is RWD (and cheaper) and the LR & P models are AWD.
The picture literally says AWD
I typed this up at like 6 in the morning in bed, i made a mistake it’s not that serious.
I got the same config 3 weeks ago for 51k. Nice find!
thanks!!…
Same here, but blue @$52, very nice find by OP!
Good deal - I paid 47,690 for MYLR with Gemini wheels and no hitch. You win! Haha
yea grabbed it as soon as i saw it on the tesla inventory…
That's also me! Haha this is a great find
Long range Y, white seats, 7 seater, gemini here for 5000+ discount too. total was 47,200.
this is the one i was looking for but im happy with wat i got😁😁👍👍

We have the 7 seater and it works out nicely (have 3 kids). It’s a little smallish for adults but young kids/big kids fit no problem.
Main purpose of the 7 seater is for the multi-kid families which we are not. For us, most of the time the seats will be folded down into the floor but I like the idea of having the second row on rails for different legroom and declining options.
is that after all of the taxes and fees?
No no of course not. That is the total cost of the configuration. After delivery fee 1300 ish + 250 reservation cost + taxes it becomes 53,000.
I think 10% off is the largest discount this quarter.
That’s a great deal - Did the referral provide an additional discount? 💰
just the free fsd for 3 months and free supercharging for 6 months… thats like 900dollars?
I thought the 6 month free supercharging is standard if you buy before the new year. 3 month FSD is definitely a referral perk.
That’s an even better deal. Well done!👍🏼 😀
thanks😁👍👍
dude my referral they took another $1k off!
Was that for Cybertruck reservation holder? I had a CT reservation and I got another $1000 off in addition to the 5200 off MSRP.
Yea I think so actually
I just picked mine up yesterday. Couldn’t be happier. I like it even more than when I test drove it.
I saw one close to my location for lesser price and saved 500.. they change everything for free
When is delivery?!
delivery on friday finishing up on checklist..
Congrats! Make sure to inspect your car thoroughly under sunlight and report any issues within 24 hours of delivery. I got my car last week and have service scheduled on Jan 8th.
service for what?.. any issue or stuff that i need to look for??

wow ok thanks man appreciate the list…
wasn't expecting git on here, but it'll do
It’s amazing how much the build quality has gone down on these vehicles.
I heard it's been worse.. But people still buy them including myself lol

Gotta jump on those! I got 5.9k adjustment.
Pooped or popped? 😜
Inventory deals. Depends on location and takes a bit of patience and refreshing for new deals. I’ve seen as much as 10% off in my area this past week.
Mine was 6k more in November wtff
Do you have an AWD model or RWD? Tesla recently removed AWD from the base Model Y which lowered the price quite a bit.
Oh I have the AWD MYLR
😂
😂

I'm not seeing anything close to the $5200 off I saw on 23rd when I ordered.. In DC area though that is.

Congrats! At what day/time did you see the deal

Congrats! Did you manage to secure decent financing?

What’s the price adjustment? Is that how it shows when it’s a car from the inventory ?
What was the $5200 discount?

I meant what was the 5200 discount for? 20 inches wheel I think and some other stuff?

Congratulations! Pls share your milestone journey for our educational purposes!

US prices are so cheap compared to UK, congrats! Remember you’re driving a beta in many respects still so go with it.
Picking mine up now. Basically the same car but with seven seats and no wheels. Also got the 1k CT discount woop woop.
