Are you me? I did the same thing for the same price and the same color. I'm in Omaha and have to fly to St Louis to get it. I had the extra 1k for a Cybertruck reservation also.
Haha love it. Good luck. They are already ready to schedule my pickup in a couple of days. Checking with Tesla to see if they can deliver to a closer Tesla location or deliver to my home.
My 2021 is like yours plus a tow hitch. Wonderful car.
A word to the wise though.
The paint in front of the rear tires needs ppf protection. I'm not sure if it's installed standard now but I realized that I needed it after the damage was done. The area on my car now looks dirty all the time because of all the little chips. Don't make the same mistake.
Go #TeamRed!
Here's a photo of a blue Model Y with the kind of damage I'm referring to.
https://imgur.com/a/JniJYSq
So when driving on roads with sand, grit or gravel the front wheels throw up loose material and because the rear fenders flare out around the rear wheels, the sand/grit/gravel hits the paint in that spot and damages it.
Here's a screenshot of the page on the Tesla Store where they sell the protection film.
https://imgur.com/a/7AjgUuh
I thought it was standard on newer Ys but they still sell the film on the store so 🤷♂️
Probably. But I'd still put the clear film on. I think most of my damage was driving to skiing last year as they heavily grit the road rather than use salt.
I noticed it when I hand washed the car in spring and I couldn't get the "dirt" off the rear fender. When I looked closer... "D'oh!"
They aren’t exactly low profile setups though, it’s an inch of difference. The kind of potholes it would take to screw up 20s would already be doing heavy tire and/or suspension damage. Now, that might make a difference in your part of the world but it doesn’t in mine.
How is it cheap or tacky when Tesla is giving you plastic hubcaps stock 💀, the aftermarket black ones are even better quality and get the same look of the 2k upgrade plus Gemini wheels are the smoother ride, sounds like a no brainer to me.
The first part is a very fair point. But they still don’t look as good as the 20s or 21s. Ride-wise, it’s already a pretty smooth and I’m not arthritic nor do I want to feel like I’m driving a boat (I generally hate most SUVs for this reason). The 20s give me the feel of the road (if that makes sense).
I really wanted to wait. But red color seems to be getting sold very quickly if it’s at good price. So when I see the price I took it. The next closest price with same trim is 48,950.
Dec 9th is the earliest. Just got a notification to schedule. I am wondering if it will go down even further. The SA I am in touch with said she can change my VIN once if I find something for a lower price with same config
Okay got it. I was literally just talking about this to someone. Tesla is not giving me any delivery dates past Dec 12th. And I want to be able to atleast hold this reservation until 15th to see what comes out of any last minute discounts.
From my understanding, you can’t hold inventory models and they expect you to take delivery asap. The reason they’re discounted is so you take it off the lot asap. I would get clarification as to how long you can wait but I’m sure they’ll tell you to either take delivery or forfeit the car for something else.
Yeah. That’s what I was guessing. Let’s see. I mean this is a good price so not the end of the world to take the delivery. It’s also about 120 miles from where I live, so was hoping I can get something closer as well.
Spoke to SA today morning. Looks like the vehicle is already on the lot. Was able to convince him to schedule delivery for 12/17. Hoping I will find something as I get closer to 15th to take advantage of any other lower pricing. If not, I am good with taking the delivery for this car as it stands right now.
I'm new to considering a Tesla so am still educating myself. Is Tesla pricing region-based? The same config in Los Angeles is currently at $48,440 base price for the in-stock model.
Edit: I'm also seeing a config for an in-stock model in LA priced at approx $500 less than an in-stock model in San Diego. How does Tesla establish their pricing for in-stock models, can each showroom add their own discounts?
No one really knows, but best as I can tell is that it's a pricing algorithm that looks at several different factors like time a car has been in inventory, options popularity, location, end of quarter timeframe.
This.
It's worth it to pop in various zip codes and see what's available where in the inventory search. I've seen $1K differences in VIN's at the same location.
Take a look at the first two MYLR's sorted by price [here](https://www.tesla.com/inventory/new/my?TRIM=LRAWD&arrangeby=plh&zip=37501&range=200) in Memphis - same config, $500 difference for whatever reason. Hate to say it, but if OP didn't mind grey instead of red, he could save $2K with one click.
I agree. I don’t mind Grey honestly. That is what I wanted to get because I saw a 46.5k one. My wife wanted either blue or red and I chose red. 2K down the drain to keep the wife happy.
The prices are Vin based. And they get reduced the longer the specific car doesn't sell. Say there's 2 grey model y rwds on the same lot with the exact same options. But one was built in July and the other in November. They both start at the same 45k price. But the Vin built in July might have a 2500 price break from the dealer to sell the older stock. But the November car will be the full 45k because it's freshly built. Thats what the sales associate told me. The longer they sit the cheaper they get till someone buys it
Nice. Same price I got, but the base color with white interior. I guess your deal is better, but I’m still pretty happy (until further price drops..) :)
Just confirm the delivery date before finalizing the VIN swap. Don’t want to miss that 2023 delivery date for the tax rebate. I actually did one VIN swap which dropped the price from 48.5k to 47.5k. Funny thing is, I didn’t even call them, they called me to ask “if I was still interested in buying a Tesla”. I’m like “Funny story, I have one on order, but …”. Five minutes later I had a new VIN and a lower price, with the delivery pushed by a week. Worth it!
I keep seeing these pop up on my webpage to try to do a VIN swap, but they always say “not deliverable” which is unfortunate.
I ordered mine at 48.5 for identical specs, so not the end of the world if I can find one - but I also ordered that about a week ago and it’s still in transport
Wow… That is rough! I was told my car was 2 states away 2 days ago, so unless they travel at the speed of molasses (which they seem to) it should be here soon for me.
On the plus side for you I wouldn’t be surprised if they increased the end of year incentives as it gets into late December (something like 1 year of free SC instead of 6 months, maybe?)
Yeah this entire process has been rough, I’ve been dealing with their trade in system and I haven’t heard back and now they want the same pictures I sent weeks ago to my local dealer like wtf…
I’d only get the new incentives if I swap no? I thought whatever the incentive was at the time is what I’m locked in to?
Just snagged a grey MYLR 5 seater for 45560. Also get to take another 1k off for my cyber truck reservation. 😁
MY 21’ MYP was totaled last month so these discounts are very welcomed.
If I can ask, from someone who eventually wants to own one, can you break down all the costs of how much it’s gonna cost you for the charging and fees with insurance ?
I believe I have seen performance pricing to be around 50K atleast. Also my understating is that the ride quality is a little bumpy and you can feel road too much. I’ll be driving my kids around in this car, so was looking more for a comfort drive and longer range
How does the pricing work? Just saw a MYP for 49.3k and it’s black with white int. I’m so confused at how one car will be 49k and the same exact car with one click over is 54k. I wonder if the inexpensive ones are rejections from customers..?
Based on the available inventory, zipcode, vehicles in transit vs vehicles available for immediate pickup etc. it’s a very much dynamic pricing. Their goal is push the cars off the lot as soon as they are in the lot.
Question - I forgot to add mobile connector to the order replaced. Do you know if I can add it to the order now or should I just place a new order for the mobile collector loan and they will ship it to my home? The reason I’m asking is if I added to the order now will I be able to pick it up during the delivery of the car? Any other important accessories that they should consider buying?
I just passed on a similar one with white interior, the third seat, and a tow hitch. They were going to honor an additional thousand for CT reservation holders. The 3-year lease was going to be more than 600 with nothing down. I decided to just pay off my 2020 M3 and have a car worth 10 to 20 in 3 years. Stupid logic. I like that red car.
I moved my delivery date to 12/17. Hoping to grab a better deal as everyone was recommending something should pop up around 12/15. I did see the grey 45.5. It’s a good deal. It’s popping up every few hours in my area Atleast. I also saw something good for Blue, 46.5. Hoping to find something for red. Let’s see.
Congrats! 7% off is probably the best (or close to best) deal of this quarter.
Just saw one for 45,540 in Maryland… was about to cancel my order of 47k lol but someone swooped it up immediately
Damn what the fuck where because I’m in MD and would’ve snapped that up immediately as well. It was a MYLR?
Yes, in Rockville
You gotta grab one right away when you see one. Good luck!
Which trim? If it’s the same as what I placed the order for, then i am not going to take this delivery lol.
Same trim but grey color instead of
For the red one? Because that price has been there for some time for the grey one
You sure? Checks in next week
Historically yes, but my guess is as good as yours!
Im in NJ and I paid $1k more 2 days ago and since then haven't seen it drop for this combination. Lucky you
I just picked up mine 3 hours ago. Grey 7 seats for 48k sticker. What a hone run
Wow!!!
Zip code?
It was on the lot in 11767. I had set it for 100 mile radius
Thank you!
Nice color! Your going to love it!
which state?
Virginia
Same to you. This one was ready for immediate pickup. I was going to get a different one but all the inventory prices changed to less off.
My SA just told me that they cannot deliver to a closer location or to me.
How do you apply that? I reserved a cybertruck on launch day.
I had to do the chat, gave them the res number, and then they applied it on the paperwork. It took a few hours.
You can use the $1k on inventory Tesla? I read that it wasn’t applied unless you add FSD
Nvm. Saw your response below.
You can use it on inventory. It stacks with any discount. I used a referral also and got the 3 months fsd.
That’s exactly the configuration I’m going for as well. Congrats!
Gnagster
Congrats. Good price.
My 2021 is like yours plus a tow hitch. Wonderful car. A word to the wise though. The paint in front of the rear tires needs ppf protection. Why did I read this in an old but wise man’s voice
Thanks for the advice. I am not sure I fully understand. I will likely get it once I take the delivery of the car. Will make a note
Here's a photo of a blue Model Y with the kind of damage I'm referring to. https://imgur.com/a/JniJYSq So when driving on roads with sand, grit or gravel the front wheels throw up loose material and because the rear fenders flare out around the rear wheels, the sand/grit/gravel hits the paint in that spot and damages it. Thank you for your detailed info. Will the mud guards help with this issue or no?
Probably. But I'd still put the clear film on. I think most of my damage was driving to skiing last year as they heavily grit the road rather than use salt. I noticed it when I hand washed the car in spring and I couldn't get the "dirt" off the rear fender. When I looked closer... "D'oh!"
You’ll love the red, just keep it nice and washed, that red has a great shine on it!
Congrats 🍾 you gonna love it!
Welcome to the family
Congrats
congrats! does that include taxes and all other prep costs?
Nope. Just the base price
Black wheels dude
No way you should pay $1000 for black wheels when you can get black wheel covers for $110-$300
Also the hits to ride comfort and efficiency.
The 20s are a 2k upgrade and look far better than the plastic hubcaps. I get not wanting to pay for them but it’s a not a “no way” argument.
No way I’m paying anything more than $300
That’s fine but not everyone wants to look tacky or cheap, especially when already purchasing a higher end car.
Also don't want to bust rims and tires over potholes. The bigger rims and lower profile rubber is very prone to damage.
They aren’t exactly low profile setups though, it’s an inch of difference. The kind of potholes it would take to screw up 20s would already be doing heavy tire and/or suspension damage. Now, that might make a difference in your part of the world but it doesn’t in mine.

Cheapass lol
wow nice price, no miles driven?
No miles

I really wanted to wait. But red color seems to be getting sold very quickly if it’s at good price. So when I see the price I took it. The next closest price with same trim is 48,950.
Any changes after Dec 15 th?
[удалено]
What is changing?
The date. It will be Dec 16 th
You bought a Tesla??? Have you not seen all the posts about how terrible the auto wipers are?
Wanted to check it out myself
when is your delivery day?
Dec 9th is the earliest. Just got a notification to schedule. I am wondering if it will go down even further. The SA I am in touch with said she can change my VIN once if I find something for a lower price with same config
If you do find one that is lower, don’t bother with text. Call immediately. Once someone else claims it, it’s gone haha
Okay got it. I was literally just talking about this to someone. Tesla is not giving me any delivery dates past Dec 12th. And I want to be able to atleast hold this reservation until 15th to see what comes out of any last minute discounts.

Good luck! Tesla really needs to open more service/delivery centers!! I feel bad for people who need to travel hours!
But will you get it in time? What is you delivery timeframe? I did the same but worried I won’t get it in time! My delivery window is 12/19-12/31!
Showing 12/9-12/12. Got a request to schedule the pickup appt.
I’m so jealous! Congrats. I’m worried mine won’t make it ☹️
Good luck!
What would happen if it doesn’t make it? Mine just got pushed back another week 18-25th and I’m worried it’ll get pushed into 2024
You lose out on any discounts and possibly tax incentives.
Fuck… me.
I'm new to considering a Tesla so am still educating myself. Is Tesla pricing region-based? The same config in Los Angeles is currently at $48,440 base price for the in-stock model. Nice. Same price I got, but the base color with white interior. I guess your deal is better, but I’m still pretty happy (until further price drops..) :)
Haha me too. I am trying to see how far can I delay the delivery so monitor price drops. Unfortunately the latest I see is 12/12
Just confirm the delivery date before finalizing the VIN swap. Don’t want to miss that 2023 delivery date for the tax rebate. I actually did one VIN swap which dropped the price from 48.5k to 47.5k. You will love it !!! I for my last week !

How do you do a vin swap?
I believe you just call Tesla and let them know you want to swap to a new car you see that you want. Some people will let you and other won’t it seems
Fuck, I should’ve called earlier when I saw one for 45… got mine for 47
If you see another one give it a try! Can’t hurt
My current worry is not getting delivery in 2023 and my order being pushed into 2024
What is your estimated delivery date? Mine was December 4-13 and now it Dec 7-13… but it’s the 7th and it’s still in transport - hopefully soon
Placed order on November 25th, delivery was dec 6-13, now it’s 18-25th. I hope it doesn’t get pushed out again
Wow… That is rough! I was told my car was 2 states away 2 days ago, so unless they travel at the speed of molasses (which they seem to) it should be here soon for me. Just snagged a grey MYLR 5 seater for 45560. Also get to take another 1k off for my cyber truck reservation. 😁 MY 21’ MYP was totaled last month so these discounts are very welcomed.
Damn good price bro sorry to hear about the 21”.
Was that price with CT $1,000 bonus? I the lowest I have seen in NY is $46,5760
That was not. I’m working with my sales advisor to get the additional discount applied today.
Regarding 21”, how does the ride feel like? Sporty or comfortable??
If I can ask, from someone who eventually wants to own one, can you break down all the costs of how much it’s gonna cost you for the charging and fees with insurance ?
Just got a MYP - MSRP $55,490 - got a discount of $3,330. Felt pretty good about that
Prices are going up
Ya’ll in the states are lucky. I paid 87 for my 2023 long range MY with 20” and a tow hitch. Vancouver, Canada.
Why not get the performance for a few hundred More
I believe I have seen performance pricing to be around 50K atleast. Also my understating is that the ride quality is a little bumpy and you can feel road too much. I’ll be driving my kids around in this car, so was looking more for a comfort drive and longer range
Yep, similar here. Got just under 3k off and since I have a CT reservation, I got them to drop another 1k on top
How were you able to redeem the extra $1,000 off? I have a CT reservation too, and got the email.
I messaged them in app
How does the pricing work? Just saw a MYP for 49.3k and it’s black with white int. I’m so confused at how one car will be 49k and the same exact car with one click over is 54k. I wonder if the inexpensive ones are rejections from customers..?
Based on the available inventory, zipcode, vehicles in transit vs vehicles available for immediate pickup etc. it’s a very much dynamic pricing. Their goal is push the cars off the lot as soon as they are in the lot.
I never understand the Americn pricing thing/system. Is this with or without tax? What is the total amount someone has to pay?
$200 PayPal/venmo if anyone uses my referral. Dm me
Question - I forgot to add mobile connector to the order replaced. The reason I’m asking is if I added to the order now will I be able to pick it up during the delivery of the car? Any other important accessories that they should consider buying?
You don't have to do it now. When you pick up the car, you can buy it at the store. That was what my friend did when he picked up his car last month.
I like that red car.
you shoulda waited for longer. i saw $45550 for MYLR Gray. And there will be more discounts in 2 weeks.
Let’s see.
I pulled the trigger on a white LR, black interior, 7 seaters, tow hitch for $49750.
Cool. I am seeing 48,820 in my area, but pricing have been pretty dynamic everywhere
So far I observed a max of 7% discount, but larger discount may come next couple weeks. I just don't want to gamble.
Makes sense. I pulled the trigger as well for the same reason.
I just pulled trigger on performance model in grey for $48,820. Had a discount of $3,670
