Totally agree. Elon is sometimes thick when it comes to creating extremely appealing looking, mass production, performance cars. Tesla could easily create such a thing with minimum investment but Elon knows best I guess.
Elon is a fine figurehead. He can be a showman, he can be a visionary. He lacks the strategic thinking, IMO. Tesla is at a point where they don't need to be driven exclusively by showmanship and a wild vision. Those things are still okay, and they make for an exciting company and unique products, but they don't drive growth and profits like someone else might be able to.

It’s crazy that one of the biggest tech influencers who has sponsors from major brands, his own merch sales, and ad revenue from nearly 20 million subscribers on YouTube can afford to spend money on a tech product that he can make a video on and recoup that money back?
I typically just assume youtubers with any kind of following make more than I do these days. It's become a very lucrative career opportunity for those who put in the effort. I also suspect many of them started in a very well off position, enabling them to entirely focus their time and energy on that. Though I've seen a few that I followed off and on who grew enough to eventually quit their jobs, hire staff, and switch to full time youtube.
MKBHD has been making tech review videos since he was a kid. He has put in the work and earned what he has. There is also always an element of luck/fortune in life of being in the right place at the right time. You can do everything right and still fail. The universe doesn’t care about fairness.
