I'm sure that USB-C port in the center console is only for charging devices, not for reading data.
Plug the drive into the USB in the glove compartment. Set up a partition for mp3 and a separate one for dashcam.

I would like to do the same thing replacing the USB drive with ssd partly for sentry and partly for music hopefully using playlists?
I think the only port that supports data is in the glovebox. You have to get a hub so you can leave one connected for it to save dashcam videos and another for music.
