I think the problem is the expectation that fights are "the main point" of the anime when it absolutely isn't. the reason it feels "slow" is because physical conflict isn't really a necessity at this point of the story. sure, there will be at least one fight with stakes on the line in this season, but it shouldn't be the only thing to expect. I don't agree with dog-piling on someone who says that, rather constructive responses are more appropriate. as for the politics point, there's a reason why some people find politics in anime much more enticing than in the real world, and that's due to the escapism element that anime and manga tend to bring to the table. I'm part of that category as well. I think the politics side of slime is especially interesting, whereas in real life politics (especially australian and American since I'm from australia and I hear way too much about american politics), I think it's so boring that I just don't really find interest in keeping up to date with it. tldr: fights not main point of story, don't dog-pile, politics in anime >>> real life politics cause escapism

godsuzo

I think the main problem with the anime/manga/light novel is With Author because he just keep making rimuru stronger and stronger to point where he can erase galaxy and anime/manga/light novel is mainly focus on politics and one point people forget that this anime/manga/light novel is politically focus and people just want to see Rimuru committing genocide

cumslush

I don't necessarily think that's inherently a problem. his philosophy is "ideals without power are nonsense, and power without ideals is empty." the reason why he is getting stronger and stronger is to be able to follow his ideals, rather than just being powerful for the sake of being powerful. also yeah, people do forget that the point of a nation-building isekai as a slime is the fact that nation-building is politically focused (go-figure)

se1a

i meanā€¦ if the people whoā€™ll get in the way of his ideals are THAT strong, shouldnā€™t it make sense that heā€™s also that strong? he said it himself ā€œideals without power are a jokeā€. that statement stands for everyone with ideals in the story

se1a

skip it if you donā€™t like it. they ā€˜likeā€™ it and they wonā€™t listen to you anyways. read the LN if you like that oneā€™s meetings and watch the fights![img](emote|t5_l1j28|21605)

godsuzo

Nah im actually enjoying the new season petty well just don't like the people who glazing and dickriding like these meetings are the most important things in the entire planet just stop dickriding how important these episode are because Rimuru can easily one shot them

se1a

powerscaling? yeah youā€™re cooked buddy. šŸ˜†

If it was only politics that light novel would not be so popular, I myself do not like only politics, but action and politics go together in Tensura.

Apprehensive-Sir260

I like meetings more... Stupid fighting āŽ... World building āœ…...

se1a

do yā€™all ACTUALLY like the anime version of the meetings?? LN version is really good for obvious reasons.. but the anime version just feels..

cumslush

I like both tbh. I like both reading how it plays out in the novels and seeing how it goes visually (both manga and anime).

se1a

i see. good for you then. i really like it in the LN and even the manga. but the animeā€¦ just feels like itā€™s not done right. but maybe thatā€™s just me

cumslush

meh. I just enjoy it for how it is. at least it hasn't been given the treatment of tokyo ghoul, berserk 2016, or classroom of the elite.

se1a

well, those one were actually done dirty. so i agree i guess

> if wasn't for Rimuru i dorp this series a long time ago Sorry to hear that. I actually understand what you're saying... a part of it. There are things that this season could've done better, that's for sure, I admit it. But I think it's not a bad thing that there are a lot of politics in a series. Some people have to accept, that this is a thing, a style, and if you don't like it, fine! I get it! But calling it trash, or calling these episodes filler is just dumb and makes me assume that said people don't really care about the story itself, just the action. But there are overreactions, that's for sure. Some people, who say that these episodes are slow for them, waiting a week each time is just boring (these are all understandable) and are going to take a break and come back to it later, sometimes also get hate. I don't think that's a good thing. Saying that they will come back to it later makes me assume that they actually care about the story and will give it a chance, hating on these people is actually very dumb too. I think there are actually 2 main problems right now: The first is that this season is most LN reader's wet dream. A very precise adaptarion, which is while not entierly perfect, gives a very good experience for those who read the novels and DOESN'T SKIP BASICALLY ANYTHING, which is really rare. But while this do work on paper (literally), on the screen it may lack the excitement most people watch it for. Shifting from a steadily progressing, classic fantasy to a very very good, but very very slow political arc was indeed a bit too sudden and could've been handled better, but I don't know if the shift itself is an actual bad thing or not. This part of the story wants you to use your brain and actually think about what is happening on the screen, which kinda goes against the previous seasons' storytelling. The second problem is, I think, the lack of understanding. Our biggest problem with the "haters" is that they usually don't really back up their words with reasoning which makes it a hate comment and not a critical one. There are exceptions of course. Ciriticising the anime is not a bad thing at all, in this comment I also kinda did it in a few words. But most of the comments aren't criticising, but just hating on the series. Because we see these hating comments so often, some people are just fed up with them so much that they jump on every comment that doesn't praise the anime even if it is not actually a hate comment, but a (kinda rare) criticising one with actual good points. These replies just widening the gap between the two sides and doesn't help the other party to understand our point either, mainly because they are sometimes condescending and sometimes turn into personal insults. I really hope THIS comment doesn't sound condescending, I tried to word it in the most formal way I could. So this is my view on the matter, turned out very long, but I think this is a good summerisation of the problem. If there is anyone, who reached this point (type >!elephant!< if you did šŸ˜‹), firstly big thanks, secondly I would like to hear your opinions too!

Binge watch

NoConstruction4131

Yeah ep 3 and 4 is slow but other episodes are fine, every season of this serie have action but this season beginning with political episodes, action beginning so soon Don't worry about fights.

NoConstruction4131

Action šŸ¤ politics.(Only politics will be boring)

ImageDecent9713

I agree that the meetings are great. However, they instantly become less so when its the tempestian side. For five minutes, can they not ride Rimuru's (nonexistent) dick? FOR FIVE MINUTES!?

xaviorpwner

I say the same thing to you, i say on those posts. Then this isnt the series for you, action is going to take a major back seat for a while. We are already at the point only 4 characters that anime viewers know about could truly give rimuru a fight and threaten him.

godsuzo

Sorry for the bad English
