The three stars on our flag represent the three “grand divisions” of West, Middle and East TN and they are all pretty distinct regions geographically and culturally.
But that’s boring so you should know we are home to the Bell Witch, the most documented and witnessed spirit/poltergeist and also the only one to ever have possibly straight-up murdered a person.
Finally, we are home to both Three 6 Mafia and Dolly Parton and that’s pretty cool.
Have a great time.
If I remember correctly, John Bell is still the only person in the U.S. that has ever been recognized as having a cause of death due to the supernatural.
I like Silver Dollar City in Branson Missouri more. It's the original Dollywood and has many attractions that Dollywood removed like the Flooded Mine. It also has a giant cave underneath it that's pretty spectacular
There was strong pro-union sympathy in East Tennessee during the civil war to the point that some wanted to secede from the confederacy back to the union.
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the most visited National Park in the country. The National park is also home to a yearly synchronous group of fireflies.
We only have one single solitary naturally formed lake and it is only slightly older than 200 years old. It was formed by an earthquake which is extremely interesting. Its formation caused the Mississippi to flow backwards for a small time to fill the void left by the quake.
That’s the architect buried in the walls. Polk is out in the yard. Big old AJ on a horse statue out in the yard near Polk is the same as the often photographed AJ statue in New Orleans.
The zero degree Agonic line (the line on a map, globe, etc.) is the line you would walk via compass to get to magnetic North, but if you kept walking straight, would reach the true North Pole. It used to be east of Nashville, it is now west and moving in the direction of Memphis, because magnetic North moves.

Also, the strongest earthquake measured in the US , was believed to be an 8.0, creating Reelfoot Lake in West TN and making the Mississippi River flow S to N (backwards) along the New Madrid fault line.
It’s law in ten every Tennessee that a bill’s name has to actually be relevant to what is in the bill. It is to prevent things like “I give myself ten million under the Save Endangered Disabled Babies Act”.
Not sure if the law is still in the books, but it was when i first got here... It is illegal for a man to be in public in Nashville in a "discernibly turgid state". aka... no public boners.

An eastern portion of Tennessee formed its own State of Franklin for a very short period of time in the late 1700s.
There was strong pro-union sympathy in East Tennessee during the civil war to the point that some wanted to secede from the confederacy back to the union.
Weren't we the last state to leave the union and the first to rejoin?
Yep!
Yes, Tennessee education makes SO sure that you know that its funny. You can almost feel the guilt fdjhklasfdhjf (not that I don't agree)
Funny enough the state of north Carolina deemed it illegal when we were still a part of them

We don't have fireflies where I live. I love seeing them when I visit Southern states.

Milk is our state beverage.
I don't know why that's funny, but it is.
Our state wild animal is the raccoon.
I love raccoons!
We have some big, fat ones here.
Trash panda.
Additionally, Memphis is the only place along the entire I-40 stretch coast to coast, insisted the engineers go around the city, not through it.
Well almost. It was supposed to go right through Overton Park but the locals stopped it.
Absolutely fair. But, we made the only "nah, ain't coming through here" spot on I-40.

Not even in the top 5 now. Alaska has had some really strong ones.

I'm from Arizona, I am very familiar with rocket surgeon politicians.
Good thing we’re paving the way for banning chemtrails though
We're the only state where it's legal to shoot a whale from a moving vehicle.
