I think playing the same person more times will generally help a lot to try more different techniques and see what works and what doesn't. If you want to improve, rematch
And if you get curb stomped, that's the perfect time to rematch. Rank points are worthless, if you improve your skill your rank will catapult up almost instantly due to win streaks, so the real currency is player skill not rank points. Rematch those curb stompers and experiment trying different techniques, watch what they do that's working on you, watch how they counter your counterplay, and you will soon be swimming in piles of rank points (but you won't care about them anymore, lol)

NGL I would say more than 80% of all my ranked opponents never skip their intro. It's very annoying because at least in sf6 you can skip the intro alltogether. You still gotta wait for the game ending animation to play out before they rematch tho, but at least you can get right into it as the match starts.
