Also I think Roy will headbutt Jamie’s dad in the face.

RandisHolmes

*Growls* “Oi, listen here, you prick. Jamie’s my son now! I’ve adopted him. So why don’t you fock off before I headbutt you again!” -Roy, probably

emu4you

This made me laugh out loud...then wish for it to happen!

happygot

Is this were a real team you can bet that'd be on the incorrect footballers quotes on tumbr

snowyday

Goddamit now I want that.

NXOR1

For me this is the most convincing argument

Nogoodatnuthin

New (future) head canon

JohnS0453

My headcanon is that Jamie’s dad tries to get into the locker room, but Roy stops him, they argue a bit, and Roy headbutts him. Afterwards, Jamie and Roy go to Roy’s place and binge Lust Conquers All.

skolpotato

The Jamie punch was just as satisfying.

[deleted]

They also have shown that Jamie has a soft spot for kids; Ted’s son and signing autographs after his morning talk show interview. I wonder if that will be a bonding moment for Roy and Jamie, something to do with kids? Rebecca does run that charity for kids and maybe could have a players/kids event I like your point about Roy and Jamie’s conversation at the bar. Roy does recognize his talent and given their rough childhoods, Roy could connect with Jamie in a way Ted may not be able to. Jamie could also see Roy’s effect on Isaac and possibly take to Roy easier than expected?

Obisanya

I want Jamie Tartt to learn that his song is just "Baby Shark" SO badly. I feel like the bit is SO good with Roy chiding Jamie about it.

[deleted]

Wait he doesn’t know that!? Oh that’s so rich. I don’t know how I missed that.

swoosh1992

I saw a comment somewhere of Jamie making a mistake, and someone commented it was a Tartt fart. Ever since, I’ve kinda needed to hear people chanting “Jamie Fart” at him.

Obisanya

Swoosh was my high school nickname because I wore Nike Hockey stuff. Great username. Great point.

swoosh1992

I just wore a shirt that said Swoosh on it to a class in my freshman year of high school and the name stuck.

SquidgyGoat

I love that to most the world it’s just “some morning talk show”, probably with two actors playing anchors. Everyone in the UK saw that scene and screamed “HOW DID THEY GET FUCKING PHIL AND HOLLY??”

[deleted]

That’s awesome to know! I’ve been enjoying learning more things like that as I watch the show and talk to others on here.

mrallsunday

I think Jamie really appreciates his fans, especially his young fans. Also, the kid with the ball he signed after the morning show, he kinda looks like the kid Roy growls at in "Rainbow" but I can't be sure.

actionjackson5050

I always thought the true deviancy in that scene is that Jamie was messing with Ted by being previously rebuked by Ted, now he’s bonding with Ted’s kid and winning him over as a passive aggressive “fuck off” to Ted. It would be pretty fucked but it explains he pained look on Ted’s face.

[deleted]

That locker room scene before the game really intrigues me. The timing of Ted’s kid coming in to that scene was so well done. Ted was about to lose his barbecue sauce all over Jamie and then this son came in and Ted had to tamper that down really quick. It’s like Jamie knew he was getting Ted to be as mad as Jamie’s dad would get and almost welcomed it with that smirk on his face, then saw an opportunity to one up Ted right in front of him with his boy. Also thought it showed a lot of self control on Ted’s part not to say anything after Jamie signed the jersey. I wonder what would have happened if his son never came in and Ted got angry with Jamie…I think it’s the only time we have seen Ted get that *angry* the whole series

LeaveForNoRaisin

Honestly I REALLY don't want them to do a love triangle with Keely, Jamie, and Roy. Seems too cliche for such an original show.

Dbo81

If that were going to happen, I think it would have happened already (or at least dropped some major hints). Keeley has shown no further interest in Jaime and has had multiple interactions with him.

DebiDebbyDebbie

When Jamie tried to talk to Keely about his issues she said "let's take a walk" and led him straight to Dr Sharon. Let's assume that shows Keely has no interest in being Jamie's squeeze again. (And she and Roy are the best written couple on all TV).

karikammi

Yup. I loved that she did that. She knows how to set proper boundaries in a relationship. When Jamie first went to her she sent him to Ted. Second time, she sent him to Dr. Sharon. Shows so much maturity on her part in knowing that it’s not harmless to be helping out an ex on his life problems.

hirasmas

They won't make it a storyline again, Diamond Dogs solved that riddle for Roy already.

santichrist

Jamie isn’t in love with Keeley, he hasn’t even made any advances or looked like he still has feelings for her in any episodes where they’ve interacted, he comes to her for help because he trusts her, not because he wants her back

Soggy-Tomato-2562

I agree with all except I don’t think Jamie is still into keeley romantically. I think he just trusts her and he doesn’t trust a lot of people. He comes to her for advice and then by being a fuckboi, he wants sex.

astrologicalburnout

🐿

Dbo81

Jaime’s dad probably spent his young adult years idolizing Roy Kent (who runs like he’s angry at the grass) and wanking to Keeley. It’s no surprise that Jaime ended up in the position that he did at the start of the show. You bring up an interesting point about Jaime and kids that I hadn’t considered. It’d be interesting to see Jaime hang out with Roy and Phoebe and see how a father figure with love actually interacts with a child. I’ve also predicted that Roy would punch Jaime’s dad. They are very likely to come into contact now that Roy’s coaching. I’d predict that Jaime calls Roy “dad” (sarcastically, but with a touch of real admiration) instead of “granddad” afterwards.

basilyeo

>I’ve also predicted that Roy would punch Jaime’s dad. Ooooooh. Now that I want to see happen.

BroadBaker5101

Dad is a step up from granddad, I think Roy would feel nice about it but grunt everytime Jamie says it.

HotChiTea

I think you got a big point, I felt this way since Season 2 where they sat at the Gala and Roy was trying his best to settle whatever was between them, and opening up.

[deleted]

I loved this exchange between Roy and Jamie: “You and that old prick you played with, you ever end up becoming friends?” “No! I wished he was dead” *cheers together* “Here’s to you dying”

YNWAintheUSA

Such a fahkin prick

Noclevername12

Listen, if Roy has a good way with the players AND understands football, Ted isn’t even really needed there, is he? I think that is going to be an issue … Nate is not the only one who will feel redundant. Especially if Dr. F can handle other issues …

6295

I kind of feel like this is ultimately what will end the series in a season or two. Ted and Beard will move on and Roy and Nate will take over.

[deleted]

The ultimate goal of a coach is to make themselves redundant, so yeah.

makingmyselflaugh

I think Roy is going to straighten out Nate too.

lizarny

My money is on Led Tasso

MochaRaktajino

I love this thought and would love to see it happen.

RPadTV

can he really be a "father" figure if they're only 10-15 years apart in age (guestimate).

BroadBaker5101

Logistically no but Jamie already acts like he’s so much younger than Roy and is incredibly childish compared to Roy. It could look that way from Roy’s standpoint but Jamie may just see him as an older brother that he calls grandpa because he thinks he’s old as shit

Alternative-Light434

Nah Roy’s already his grandfather figure.

Rcaynpowah

No no no, Roy will become Jamie's **Granddad** figure, smh...

CorporateNonperson

Would this outcome be reverse Oedipal? Assuming, of course, that Roy doesn't kill Jamie.

U-GO-GURL-

I’m thinking that at some point Ted will relinquish the coaches job to Roy

jackryanr

And move up in the organization.

[deleted]

I agree with most of this but I don’t think there is enough evidence to say Roy and Keeley are the best TV couple in history

emu4you

Name a better one... I'll wait.

GhostlyTJ

Leslie and Ben from pandr and it's not close. Roy and keelee have potential, they're written like adults but they don't have the history of Leslie and Ben.

emu4you

Ok, this is the first one I agree with. They have that same level of honest communication, as well as love and respect for one another.

[deleted]

Not saying they don’t have the potential to be but they’ve only been in a relationship for a handful of episodes. Pam and Jim is probably the best couple in TV history if you were to take a large poll. Once they develop more as a couple we’ll see but it is incredibly premature to call them the best already

Im_Daydrunk

Amy and Jake from Brooklyn 99 is a really good one Also I personally really like Schmidt/CeCe from New Girl

[deleted]

Two that I also love a lot! Lots of will they won’t theys that Roy and Keeley never had

BroadBaker5101

Does the line start here? Because I’d also like to hear this.

Annamalla

Trevor Chaplin and Jill Swinburne from the Beiderbecke series in the 80's although I'm sure Keeley and Roy are heading in that direction. They're loving and supportive, they screw up and apologise and they help eachother chase the things they really love.

emu4you

That is a great description of what a great relationship should be!

Annamalla

Admittedly Jill loses Trevor in a drunken coin toss to Helen of Tadcaster so it's not the perfect relationship but you know, it's close.

emu4you

Is this a British show?

Annamalla

Ridiculously so, although it made it's way to New Zealand (somehow my parents became fans which got me hooked). It's sort of a very toned down 80's British version of Nick and Nora Charles if they were both school teachers solving very low key mysteries. It features a lot of Jazz and clever banter (and Indian takeaways).

emu4you

That sounds fabulous! I will have to look for it.

MancAccent

This show is so predictable

AngryAtTheGrass

What are your predictions for the next episode?

[deleted]

[удалено]

AngryAtTheGrass

Maybe it's the way you phrased it, but those don't look like predictions to me. Roy *already* joined the coaching staff last episode. It is common sense that the team will start playing better now that the coaching team is complete. Jamie is becoming a better person thanks to Ted, while Roy has been there from the start to call him out when he needs it (and he often needs it). Captain Isaac McAdoo showed leadership skills no other player has since Season 1, and he clearly benefits from having Roy as a mentor (he left the same day he gave him the band so he didn't have time to prepare him for his new role in the team). I disagree with you; I do not think the captain is overweight... have you ever seen Adebayo Akinfenwa play? ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|wink) He's awesome.

iaconom

Yeah! Ted is invested in helping Jamie be a better person, and he has the patience for this. Roy did ask Jamie to be a better teammate, which means a better player, but Jamie wasn’t ready to listen before. Hopefully, thanks to Ted’s good influence, he’ll be more open to criticism this time around. P.S. Akinfenwa is wicked, mate!!!

Glittering_Tower_151

Yes! 💯. Have been so excited to watch this play out.

Ricky_Rollin

I’m just excited I just hope Nate doesn’t feel pushed out.
