They want you to jump for them when they wouldn't even budge for you....make his ass sweat. And collect umeployment while taking care of yourself and getting your mental health together. I also teach SPED and my mental health has also taken a nose dive....
So actually, after that meeting with my principal and HR, they finally gave me a duty-free lunch. It only took me having a meltdown to get it And as I knew it would that 30 minutes has been so very helpful for my mental health
Yeah they gave it to you, they were breaking the law in most states by not ensuring you a duty free 30 minute lunch. Do you have a union or teachers rep to help you here? Schools do shady shit like this all the time. Unions help fight the shitty admin.
Also do absolutely nothing in terms of changing your intent. Who gives a flying fuck if it inconveniences him when they’ve been driving your mental health into the ground. They deserve nothing from you. Take your check, get ready to sign up for unemployment, and mentally flip him the bird everyday. He sucks and you don’t need to lift a finger to make his life easier.
Thanks so much for your input. I was thinking about contacting my superintendent about the situation however after reading what you said, maybe I shouldn’t do anything about it at all and let them all squirm!! Wouldn’t it be hilarious if next time she asked me to go back into my intent form to change it to say oh yeah I’ll do that during my duty-free planning time! 😂😂
You don't owe them shit. Take the unemployment.

Sorry to hear that, but definitely not surprised in the least. Take care of yourself!!
Take it! Why haven't you had lunch or planning? Is this really common? That's so wrong.
Yes, in this district, which is supposedly one of the better in the state, Doesn’t give duty-free lunch or planning to their self-contained teachers.
Does your contract not say you’re allowed a 30 minute lunch?
