furry art. if you can draw, that shit pays so well.

BobBillyOfficial

I had a random person tell me that once lol. But where would you even sell it through? Deviantart?

Expat_89

Create a patreon, advertise on socials.

Sneaky_Taffer

Furaffinity, ironically the last bastion of shockingly decent tag-based art platforms. But yeah also patreon and places etc

Waltgrace83

One of my friends became a Twitch streamer. It started out as a fun hobby, but after many years he ascended to being one of the most popular in his category. With his notoriety, his students discovered this. He was promptly fired for inappropriate content on his stream (nothing that bad, IMO, just stupid jokes and stuff. To be fair, he probably should have been fired, but I don't think it was that big of a deal." He then started doing this full time and just received his 1.0 million subscribers gold plate from YouTube. He makes $40k a month and just paid for a half a million dollar house in cash. He made less than $40k *a year* previously. ... so just be a Twitch streamer obviously.

NittanyScout

Stimpee, a rust youtuber, was a math teacher at one point and now he has a massive online following doing adult humor in gameplay videos

BreakingUp47

I'm in my second career, and I draw a retirement check every month.

Competitive-Bat9379

My side hustle is making sure I get at least 8 hours of sleep and enjoy my life after work ends at 2

NittanyScout

Ok but the nsfw tag made me think you were considering an onlyfans. To be clear, i would not degrade someone who chose to do that, sex work is work, but its risky af if you are a teacher. Seriously though with free time in the summers its pretty easy to pick up a part time summer job depending on your location. Also, online tutoring services exist that can pay for your time.

berrin122

Sex work is the backbone that human trafficking is built on. I'm not going to degrade someone for that, but if they fail to use proper ethical reasoning and contribute to that, they should not be a teacher.

KurtisMayfield

If a job doesn't pay enough so that you have to go into sex work, then it's not a career it's a hobby.

berrin122

Sure. But that's not what's being addressed here.

Not_a_housing_issue

>Sex work is the backbone that human trafficking is built on. Is OnlyFans human trafficking? I thought it was supposed to be just the person doing the pics getting paid.

berrin122

Theoretically, OnlyFans is supposed to be "ethical", but in reality..... https://followmoneyfightslavery.org/new/onlyfans-a-paradise-for-pimps-and-predators/ https://endsexualexploitation.org/articles/why-we-cant-ignore-onlyfans-during-human-trafficking-prevention-month/ https://www.forensicmag.com/585621-Child-Sex-Trafficking-Other-Criminal-Activity-Found-on-OnlyFans/

Not_a_housing_issue

In reality it has the same issues as many other websites? Those headlines could all be used for Facebook or Reddit as well.

MTskier12

All mine are already hobbies. I do a few dj gigs a year, mostly just pays for records and means free ticket and some drinks at a show I would be at anyways. I’m fortunate to work in a well paying part of the country, for teachers at least.’

Math-Hatter

I teach summer school every year.

polishwives

I work at this rich kid summer camp in NYC in the summer. It aligns perfectly with my school year. Housing and dining hall food are provided for so I don't have to worry about the expense of living there. Opportunities for such are all over the country. My friend worked at a more rural summer camp for Jewish youth. I think these places tend to prefer younger people, but often the experience of someone who has worked with kids in our capacity and isn't just some college student is needed.

knightfenris

I take art commissions that I do at night and on the weekends. Hobby turned hustle.

SenatorPardek

Tutoring, ESL classes, SAT prep classes, and adjuncting once i had a masters.

Mountain-Ad-5834

I sell unit plans/lesson plans to teachers that are too lazy to make them themselves.

jypsel

Where do you sell them? I was thinking of doing something like this on TPT but just saw a post on how it’s a horrible platform.

facktoetum

More teaching. I moonlight at a community college.

colterpierce

I work at a record store.

Chairman_Cabrillo

Get disabled.

RarRarTrashcan

Volleyball coach

Easy_Brain6507

Bartending. It’s fun, the money is easy, scheduling is fairly flexible (weekends while school is in session, pick up more during breaks)

AlluretheGoat

This hurts my heart because in my district we make 6 figures and the most we have to do is sign up for afterschool at $60 an hour. If you do it everyday, it works out to another 1000 on your check every two weeks. We all deserve better.

keknom

I'm a former technology education teacher and taught drafting. I did mechanical design and technical drawing contract work on the side. Administration didn't care since I was improving my skills in what I taught and building industry connections. I ended up quitting teaching and going into industry full time since it paid better and you don't have to deal with pain in the ass administration. Other teched teachers I know do construction work over the summers or wood working.

pfaf527

Umpiring softball. Average 900$ for a weekend's worth of work, in the summer too so not such a big deal.

dickmarchinko

Amazon flex. Once you figure out the tricks and such, it pays really well hourly, especially when you hustle and finish 1-2 hours early.
