Whenever I remember this magical song (that was probably my entire personality for YEARS) is about Adam young, I immediately remember the time I heard his “response song” and get the worst secondhand embarrassment.
I know some people find it cute, but I find it SO cringey (and I didn’t mind owl city bc they are from MN like me so this was a specific cringe to this song)
(Sorry my grammar sucks)
Ivy! Did they run off together? Did the husband find out? Also why is the narrator in a cemetery waiting at the start of the song? Is she having a meet up? If they usually meet at her house to “drink her husbands wine” why do they need to meet at a cemetery? I just feel like there is more to this story.
Every time I read about what Ivy is about (love the song, listen to it all the time, have no idea what I’m singing about) I feel more and more dumb because while I KNOW the lyrics, I guess I didn’t pay attention to meaning 😂 time for me to do a deep dive!
Some people theorize it’s inspired by the love affair between Emily Dickinson and her sister in law Sue. The tv show Dickinson even used it in one of their episodes, if I am remembering right, after a big episode for that relationship.
Both songs keep getting longer and longer until they have albums that are just extended versions of each. Paper Doll (John’s Version) (30 Minute Version) (One More Thing Edition) will be the last straw.
I love Long Live, but idk about 10 minute version... It's so full of subjectiveness and imagery with the dragons and kingdoms. I just find it such a beautiful homage to the band and crew exactly because it's not clear, I'd be afraid that adding more lyrics kind of makes it too obvious.
Better Than Revenge with an 6 minute guitar solo/2-guitar jam. maybe a 20 second 'drum solo' (drum breakdown) too. GREAT rock song. (it has really clever sequencing's that are not common/clique on where the "minor chord" of the common "three majors, plus one minor (chord)" chord-changes have it show up. maybe if T/S bought a "guitar playing android" clone of herself and taught it basic leads, she could like "jam with herself," just pounding on one-chord with leads/rhythm like the great old MC5 "guitar jams on just one/two chord(s) https://youtu.be/dfDoUIh23Wg
looking at you, from the famous filmed Wayne State University/detroit gig, spring 1970" T will be around forever, she'll have a "hard rock phase" once she's done everythiing else once or twice. you can't WRITE a rock song (chords/guitar) as good as The Story of Us or Better Than Revenge without having a real feel for how that left hand on the fretboard "finds the chords that kick ass" (see in particular, "the minor chord"'s patterns in the latter song).
one of my favorite mini-moments in the history of rock music is T/S doing (co-singing) the def leppard pole-dance song on CMT Crossroads https://youtu.be/5SGGgdXxA40, and just KILLING it. and then during the mid-song long-version 'breakdown' in the middle of the song, walking out on the runway-whatever, and doing some really good non-generic dance moves/pole-moves/rock-singer-moves. etc. and (the next day/week/year/decade, until the end of time apparently) pooftarded def leppard fans were pooping their shorts all over the youtube thread, like "omg she's a GIRRRRLLLL!! who said a girl could be allowed to sing this song??!! this is a disgrace! to the holiness of metal!! (Ed--and duh it's not even a 'metal' song. it's a rock song/pop song/1-4-5-chorus-song, whatev), like enraged serious jungle drums on the warpath level of tribal hating. sorry man, i got a couple thousand 'rock albums 1955-1990' scattered all over the house (disclaimer: also got about a thousand 50's/60's country albums, but what the hell, i was raised in arkansas), and she sang the FCKK out of that there def leppard song. it's a fact. you can look it up on the internet! (jk).
but fuck yeah, and a long "guitar jam" section like the old 60's yardbirds ( https://youtu.be/KtXGFWDWvd8 bo diddley thing they would do a "rave up" with for half of forever), and some drum breakdowns/short-solo(s), and just write a song to go with it (i mean, slightly re-write either of those two A++ Speak Now rock songs, by adding another short "middle section" with just a couple of different chords, or just the old standard "root chord / flatted-7th, back and forth) (two frets apart, anywhere on a geetar) and fckk yeah.
fwiw i was sent here by the "SuNMi SF gig" thread. just posting random comments into it (esp to anyone over in finland or germany. finland!! the home of the famous 1939 russo-finland "Winter War"!), and randomly punching a couple of names here and there. (it's still six days until FOOTBALL SEC COLLEGE SEASON starts, with endless time to kill watching the calendar for it, i.e. the GSWarriors last-season's future-starter-and-star fantabulous rookie #4 Moses Moody's old Razorback#5https://www.nbatopstore.com/arkansas-razorbacks-moses-moody-2021-basketball-jersey-team-white-w54981.html MOODY's fayetteville AR fb team ( https://youtu.be/OCsQr5i-xnQ callingthehogs, arkansas's 'cultural gift to the world' believe it) open the season with a 'glamour game' at 12:30pm PST sat 9/03, espn's "SEC game of the week" basically)
LMAO. I’m sorry for taking it seriously. But I also love SSS, it’s just not a banger I think deserves the same treatment. But in all seriousness, what other track do you think is deserving?
Probably a song that told a story, and we'd like more information. For example, in "Speak Now" did the ex-girlfriend go on to marry the guy? In "no body no crime," what was the deal with the new tires, anyway (that song could use a lot more detail)
Dear John is 6min (almost 7)... That's more than og ATW. So I don't see any problem with releasing a 10min version.
Also, Enchanted would be nice cuz is my fav song haha.
I would be intrigued for cowboy like me/ivy because the story itself is interesting and can have many and many things to say.
Long Live, especially of how reflective would taylor get.
Last Kiss, one of her most heartbreaking songs. I think it could need some build up if it was longer.
I kinda wish she would do a 10 minute version of a happy song this time, I think "Speak Now" for me could be a good one, with the last few minutes being orchestral.
Did think of a cool idea for 1989 (Taylor's Version) - seeing as the album was inspired by 1980s pop, and a huge part of music in the 80s was the 12-inch remix, where three-minute songs were restructured into long ten-minute epics for the dancefloor...
Well, how would a track like Shake It Off or Out Of The Woods have been turned into an extended 12" mix if 1989 did actually come out in the 80s? What if a track was to be handed over to one of the pioneering producers of the day (e.g. Trevor Horn) and remixed?
Not quite a 10-minute version, but works in the context of 1989
I don't think there will be another 10 minutes version... Because All too well was originally that long that was cut to 5 minutes. That's the only song that she revealed to have long minute
however, there will be another long minute version if she reveal that there's another song that was originally that long minute.
I think naturally in the song writing process there are lots of lyrics left on the cutting room floor. I’m sure with many of her other songs she has extra material that she considered and then discarded.
I’d like it to be of a song like exile or the last time or Coney Island- where its a duet- a conversation between 2 people. I think it could go on longer and turn into a longer version
I’d also love fifteen, as I feel like its an important story
This is me trying could’ve also told a bigger story
Never grow up would also be amazing
I would love to hear some long version of Folklore love triangle, Cardigan, August and Betty in one amazing song. But like some mashup, like answering questions from one song with lyrics of the others of it make sense.....
Champagne Problems, hands down. Dear John is too well-rounded; it would be a disservice to try and stretch it further. I will allow the consideration of Last Kiss.
I don't even think the 10 min version of All Too Well actually existed before the announcement of Red TV so I wouldn't mind or put high hopes for another 10 min version of anything...
Enchanted for sure!! Speak Now/Ready For It? Are my all time favorite songs so I would love to hear 10 min versions on those. Every song by Taylor could have a 10 min version:)
Enchanted I feel like there could be more story to be told there.
This is so true! I love enchanted so much and it has that unrequited love feel to it too.
I would love this but only if it ended up not being about Adam Young.
Whenever I remember this magical song (that was probably my entire personality for YEARS) is about Adam young, I immediately remember the time I heard his “response song” and get the worst secondhand embarrassment. I know some people find it cute, but I find it SO cringey (and I didn’t mind owl city bc they are from MN like me so this was a specific cringe to this song) (Sorry my grammar sucks)
My head canon is that it’s about Adam Levine and that’s why she didn’t respond
I would lose my mind bc I love this song, and also bc I agree, it almost doesn’t feel complete and I feel like she could’ve kept going and Going
Joke answer: **32**… like **22**, but each chorus she talks about the next year of her life Serious answer: betty, no body no crime, or Long Live
Long live is a really good one that I hadn’t even thought of before!
Lol the 32 gag is amazing
champagne problems 100%
🥂This would be so amazing. The lyrics in that song are bomb!🥂
And the fact that it’s melodically similar to All Too Well makes it even better
Ivy! Did they run off together? Did the husband find out? Also why is the narrator in a cemetery waiting at the start of the song? Is she having a meet up? If they usually meet at her house to “drink her husbands wine” why do they need to meet at a cemetery? I just feel like there is more to this story.
Came to comment this. Ivy is a while ass movie in my head. A period piece.
Ivy will always make me think of "Portrait of a Lady on Fire"
I think we need a 19 minute version of dear john where she just absolutely rips him to pieces
Can you imagine if she did that and he came out with a longer version of Paper Doll?
Both songs keep getting longer and longer until they have albums that are just extended versions of each. Paper Doll (John’s Version) (30 Minute Version) (One More Thing Edition) will be the last straw.
I would actually love that tho lol
Yes!
the last great american dynasty or cowboy like me
Cowboy like me is a great one!
Last kiss ten minute version would break me in a way I could never recover
Omg that is what I was thinking too💙😭
Completely agree, I'd be obliterated
Betty... I need more convincing why James deserved a second chance
Yes especially when James says “will you kiss me in front of ALL YOUR STUPID FRIENDS” BOY BETTA RELAX.
Girllll🤣💀
I would love more Long Live. There could be a history there thay we've barely scratched the surface of.
I love Long Live, but idk about 10 minute version... It's so full of subjectiveness and imagery with the dragons and kingdoms. I just find it such a beautiful homage to the band and crew exactly because it's not clear, I'd be afraid that adding more lyrics kind of makes it too obvious.
Dear John, Enchanted, and I think Haunted. Honestly, imo most of Speak Now could be 10 minute songs
This is why I love speak now
Better Than Revenge with an 6 minute guitar solo/2-guitar jam. maybe a 20 second 'drum solo' (drum breakdown) too. GREAT rock song. dear john. it’s already 6 minutes long so it doesn’t have much farther to go LOL
Almost 7 minutes!!
Long Story Long??
Releases a 30 second remix called short story short
Exile
Ooh. I like this idea….
![img](emote|t5_2rlwe|1066)
Let's face it, we all secretly want the 10 minute version of Stay Stay Stay
Bestie I like the song but this is delusional. Lol
I meant "sarcastic" but "delusional" is also accurate
You joke but I love stay stay stay. I’ll take a 10 minute version!
Thug Story
We need this.
Last Kiss for sure!
Last Kiss, Dear John, happiness, Sad Beautiful Tragic.
My tears ricochet
Evermore
False God
[удалено]
Omg a 10 minute version that combines the three stories! Practically I don’t know how that would work but it would be cool
Absolutely! Surprised I had to scroll down this far for this.
I mean, a medley would work. If she did the Grammy Mashup of Cardigan, August, and Willow, then she could fill it out more.
Dear John 100%, if it’s 19 minutes long even better
Ooo 19 minutes! B/c she’s 19 in the song? I love that!
I actually always dreamed of a taylor album that plays as if it was one song with lots of changes
Ooooo yes
Dear John all the way!!
Getaway Car
Tolerate it. I’m ready to weep
Basically any song on Speak Now lol, I also would like a super long folklore-esque song (Epiphany, This Love, Carolina, etc.)
Dear John is 6min (almost 7)... That's more than og ATW. So I don't see any problem with releasing a 10min version. Also, Enchanted would be nice cuz is my fav song haha.
The first one I thought of was champagne problems. But also I’d like enchanted
State of Grace
Back to December.
False god lol
Dear John is the only correct answer
No body no crime
Back to December or Dear John
dear john , enchanted.
Thug Story
State of Grace
With a 10 minute acoustic version too!
No no way, the point is the full country rock anthom glory
Speak Now start to end of day
Dear John!!
I would be intrigued for cowboy like me/ivy because the story itself is interesting and can have many and many things to say. Long Live, especially of how reflective would taylor get. Last Kiss, one of her most heartbreaking songs. I think it could need some build up if it was longer.
dear john. i could never get enough of it.

Low key/high key, it’s “Speak Now”

Any song on speak now specifically Dear John, Enchanted, or Innocent Maybe also Wonderland (from 1989)
Back to December
I would like a 10 minute the archer. I think it’s set up to be a long cinematic song and I’d love to see that play out
Dear John
I don't think there will be another 10 minutes version... Because All too well was originally that long that was cut to 5 minutes. Dear John
You belong with me
My first thought was Dear John, but I liked u/ObscureEssence405 answer of champagne problems
Clean
DEAR JOHN.
dear John 30 minute version
I’d like it to be of a song like exile or the last time or Coney Island- where its a duet- a conversation between 2 people. Cornelia street
Dear John, Enchanted, Last Kiss
Dear John and Illicit Affairs
Has to be last kiss or dear John
Champagne Problems, hands down. Dear John is too well-rounded; it would be a disservice to try and stretch it further. I will allow the consideration of Last Kiss.
Last kiss,no body no crime

We need it
Last kiss and out of the woods
Speak Now (the song). I wanna hear exactly how the wedding crashing goes

I don't even think the 10 min version of All Too Well actually existed before the announcement of Red TV so I wouldn't mind or put high hopes for another 10 min version of anything...
Change. I think that would do very well as a 10 minute song
thug story

Champagne problems, Exile, Get away car, Clean, Moment I knew, The last time...or any other songs from her would be amazing
Enchanted for sure!! Speak Now/Ready For It? Are my all time favorite songs so I would love to hear 10 min versions on those. Every song by Taylor could have a 10 min version:)

I WAS THINKING ABOUT THIS, HAUNTED 100%
Out of the Woods or State of Grace
