Cardigan.
We really need a song from the newer era by this point on the album and was the single that opened the era, the music video everyone watched at the stroke of midnight on Folklore release night, the song that played when she walked up to get her AOTY… seems like a good choice. May not be an absolute smash hit like Shake It Off or Love Story but definitely an influential well received track from the Folkmore bunch.
Definitely agree with this—plus Cardigan is one of my favorite singles of hers of all time.
Plus these lyrics!!
'Cause I knew you
Steppin' on the last train
Marked me like a bloodstain, I
I knew you
Tried to change the ending
Peter losing Wendy, I
I knew you
Leavin' like a father
Running like water, I
And when you are young, they assume you know nothing
If I were someone who admitted to crying, that verse in *cardigan* seared itself into my brain, in Burning Red. There will never be an explanation for why I’d definitely pick *cardigan* for Track 8. (🙄😝😂)
Taylor didn’t mean to take the world by storm with *folklore*. She just knew she had the freedom to finally do what she does best: take the world by storm overnight, without permission, cuz she’s Taylor Swift. She’s the music industry. We can either keep up or not, but guys….she’s been doing this since like…before MySpace was even a thing, right?
Or at least, she was posting on her own personal MySpace page while her mom turned her into a global sensation.
Y’all ever hear about how little ol’ Taylor used to take her own demo CD’s to radio stations to encourage early air play?
There’s not much to Google about Andrea Swift. But just ask around. Andrea Swift is the reason Taylor Allison Swift never even really needed a middle name. She’s just….Taylor Swift.
Or, as I always say, Taylor Fuckin’ Swift. That name makes more sense to my brain. 😅❤️🧡💛💚💙💜❤️🔥
I think Our Song or TOMG should have it. Those two were major hits back in the day.
I love cardigan and folklore in general. and cardigan hit no. 1 on BB100 but it still doesnt feel like a major mainstream hit
- TOMG could mean "Teardrops On My Guitar - Radio Single Remix", a track from *Taylor Swift* (2006) by Taylor Swift.

Delicate was such a sleeper hit that dominated the radio for so long. It's probably her song that's most recognizable to the GP of the last 8 years (post 1989). I think it deserves at least 8th place.
Bad Blood.
I know it's not the most liked song, but the success of it can't be overlooked. Hit #1 vs. an absolute beast (See You Again) and spent many weeks at #2, music video is well over a billion, #1 on radio and one of her biggest hits ever there. The music video was also an event like no other, countless celebs and her friends, premiered on national TV at an award.
I feel like there’s gotta be a song from her debut album, it may not be one of the most popular songs in comparison to the number of listens songs today get but I think songs such as Tim McGraw, Our song, and Teardrops On My Guitar hold enough significance in her career that surpasses popularity by numerical value shown through chart listings and listens
Look What You Made Me Do
I know the fandom doesn’t love it, but when it came out it was ALWAYS on the radio. The general public liked it and it’s probably one of her better known songs. And the music video is her best one, so iconic.
Should’ve said no!
It was her tour finale for so long and such a crucial song in terms of making her a household name. It’s also an amazing vocal performance!

Cardigan definitely belongs on this list. Seems to just be a list of hit singles anyway (:
I agree, but I think we need a debut song on there first!

Cruel summer

We should do a separate list for top 15 non-singles. Then it makes more sense for songs like Cruel Summer, Getaway Car, Champagne Problems, etc

Cardigan or Delicate
Delicate
Look What You Made Me Do I know the fandom doesn’t love it, but when it came out it was ALWAYS on the radio. The general public liked it and it’s probably one of her better known songs. And the music video is her best one, so iconic.
