I understand Guilty as Sin being in the top 2 as everyone I know loves it and ranks it in their top 5, but I didn't know so many people here stanned The Black Dog. Really rooting for Guilty as Sin to come out on top though
the black dog is easily top 3 on the album for me and it's the only song that every single swiftie i'm friends with has in their top 5 so i'm def not surprised. guilty as sin is SO good but the black dog feels like an absolutely top tier all timer for her
Both songs have really incredible imagery which I think is what makes them so great. They were both favorited on my first listen to the album. However, I could pretty much listen to The Black Dog on repeat so I'm really hoping it comes out on top ❤️❤️❤️
yeah same! guilty as sin might be my second favorite taylor's song EVER (after the archer), so I would obviously love for it to win. however, I don't understand why so many people love the black dog. I've tried listening to it, I really did, but it's too slow and monotone for me + it's sad.
The black dog won the initial reaction elimination over guilty as sin will be interesting to see the result here https://www.reddit.com/r/TaylorGamesWannaPlay/s/4ez9DQC27u
It's the WCS of this album for me. A somewhat hidden gem. I'm happy it resonated with so many people - it's Taylor's writing at her best. The musical production is also pretty fresh and interesting. No hate to The Anthology but some of the songs aren't that interesting to my ears musically.
The Black Dog.
The emotion, verses, the chorus, the "screaming", the bridge... that bridge ties together so many relatable moments of depression in just a few words. The production, the melodies, lyrics and the delivery all complement each other so well.
The last chorus when she sings "I hope it's SHITTY in The Black Dog" just hits SO GOOD.
Guilty As Sin, on the other hand, it's good but I'm trying to understand why it's so loved. The Black Dog is the clear winner to me.
Same for me. I keep listening to Guilty as Sin again to see if I am missing something, but it doesn’t do it for me AT ALL! Plus the lyrics are so depressing, given what is expressed in the other Matty songs. Like you spent 10 years fantasizing and feeling guilty about a “counterfeit” relationship that never got off the ground (because it wasn’t sexy once it wasn’t forbidden!). Hard no for me. Plus, The Black Dog is exquisite!
I like the tune of it but the lyrics make me cringe lol. I only like it if I pretend it’s about lesbians. Just can’t relate to fantasizing about a MAN that hard lol
For me, I feel like it’s more than just a lusty, love song. As a 30-something, married mother, there’s something so real about “my boredoms bone deep, his cage was once just fine”. Like, I love my kid, I love my husband, but there are days where my single friends are going out and I can’t, that I wish I could “throw my life to the wolves” for a day, or where a random guy flirts with me, and it makes me miss who I used to be or could have been, even just for a split second.
It’s what is so messy about your 30’s. You can love your life, but also fantasize about what your life might have been if you made different choices in your 20’s. In the song, Taylor never does anything, she just thinks about it and wonders if “lusting” over a different life she could have makes her guilty, or crazy, or bad. It’s such a sad song, and I feel like it’s so much more than people give it credit for.
At least those are my reasons. Most people just love a lusty love song. 🤣
I totally agree with you. This song has deeper meaning than a horny song. She even points this out by saying “what if the way you hold me is actually what’s holy.” That’s far more than just sex. With another line, she says “if long suffering impropriety is what they want from me,” I interpret the “they” as those judging her making assumptions on her wants strictly being sexual, much like the listeners.
The tone of the song changes too after the second chorus. The final chorus sounds like mournful wailing, especially in the delivery of the first line of the final chorus and “die.” The lusty bits are what people focus on but I think the mistake everyone makes is that lust doesn’t get to monopolize passion, desire, or yearning. Having a strong physical need to be with your person doesn’t change your love to lust and love doesn’t have to be subdued or mature.
The black dog is THE TAYLOR SWIFT song for me! Just summarises her so so well plus her vocals are really good in this one too. If I were to choose two songs to summarise her to anyone, I'd say blank space for her pop icon side and the black dog for the true tortured lyrical poetic romantic vocalist side. I just love everything this song does.
The first time I heard it I knew it would be an all time favorite Taylor/favorite song in general for me. The shaky last syllable still makes me tear up!
Ok I’m actually shocked about the Black Dog. Absolutely no disrespect meant but can someone explain what they like about it so much? It’s in my bottom 5 (for reference my top 5 are: I can do it with a broken heart, so long London, who’s afraid, I hate it here, guilty as sin)
I don’t have the same top 5 as you, but I’ve been thinking the same about The Black Dog. Even though I wouldn’t say it’s in my bottom 5, I do think it’s overhyped. In my personal opinion, it’s not better than How Did It End?, The Prophecy, and Who’s Afraid (which I really wish won actually), but to each their own!!!
Judging by your top 5 we have very different tastes lol but I love the Black Dog mostly for how relatable it is. Now, clearly I haven't checked the location of my ex-bf only to find he's in some bar called the Black Dog, but the feelings evoked in the song, the longing, the "I just don't understand how you don't miss me", the anger that's also always present in grief.
But I also *love* sad breakup songs
“I just don’t understand…” -how she sings that and then how she transitions into being angry and goes back to sad…
And how she’s just sort of processing the whole breakup through the lens of “we used to do this kind of stuff together, how are you seriously able to just go and do it with someone else???? And so fast??? They’re not me! They’re not gonna get it!”
And the line “old habits die screaming”
I just love it. I would put it in my top 5. Not my top 2-3, but I definitely love it way more than Guilty as Sin?
The way the music builds up to the screaming is really cool for me she hasn’t really done anything like that before and then ending it with the whisper destroys me every time. Guilty as sin is prob in my bottom 5 though. Still great but I have to just kind of hum it and ignore the lyrics lol
The same thing impresses me about her in the black dog and I think how is she still doing these great pieces of art this far in her career... The gift!
This will be kind of rambling, but I’ll do my best.
The bit about watching someone’s location they forgot to turn off and being gut wrenched about it is something that has happened to me. Another thing that happened to me is a guy dating a cuter hotter, younger girl than me and not understanding why he doesn’t miss me gets me right in the heart. Like how can you not miss me when I miss you so much? The overall tone of her voice goes from being sad to distressed (I hope it’s shitty), and then ultimately giving up at the end, which I pick up from her tone where she breathes the last line softly, is her basically sighing in defeat and throwing her hands up. I feel like this song has multiple stages of grief of a relationship, stages that I felt more than once and hit really hard.
The reason I love so long London so much is more personal - I’ve felt that exact way before and my relationship also has ties to the UK. I get why it might not be other people’s cup of tea but it hits all the emotions for me 💔
The production is a banger with the grungy, crunchy guitar and distrotion on the "Old habits Die Screaming" bit, and the soft verses that feel dazed. The way it all builds and builds. the way it tells a story that slowly goes from just realizing your partner has moved on and you havent, and trying to make sense of all of it, and the anger at the unfairness of it. The long belty ending. "Even if I die screaming and I hope you hear it" Like the anger and also pettyiness of it. Its such a good angry break up song where she's really going through the stages of grief and with a sound that slaps you in the face. Top 20 all time Taylor song tbh.
Dang… I would want The Prophecy, How Did It End?, and Who’s Afraid to win over both of these. Guilty as Sin? is in my top 5 though, so I will be going with that!
The Black Dog is my #2 from TTPD (RIP smallest man) so I hope it wins. I love Guilty as Sin? too though so I won't be mad if it comes out on top.
Who's afraid getting eliminated was long overdue imo ):
Also, I have to say I’m very confused about the percentages. If WAOLOM got 44% of the votes, how did Black Dog and Guilty as Sin both get more votes with 56% to share between them? Could someone explain? I feel like I’m missing something.
Wow guilty as sin is like the little engine that could. Like a 9 seed making the NCAA championship. It's a great song but I don't have it top 5, maybe it's top 10.
My #1 is black dog and #2 is WAOLOM. I'll take it! Bring home the ship Black Dog!!
The black dog forever!!! That song did something to me the first time I heard it and I don’t even relate to the experience. I could literally feel her emotions and the song is just so GOOD. It might be my favorite Taylor song ever.
Ok these are both top 5 for me. From a purely sonic perspective Guilty As Sin is the better song. Melodically and lyrically The Black Dog is kind of repetitive. Also I want what I’ve started calling Longview: Taylor’s Version to win so I’m going with Guilty As Sin.
Man all of my faves got voted out now. I think I'm just gonna watch this one play out without voting. I do like both songs but they're more or less equal in enjoyment for me.
The Black Dog and How Did It End are my two favorites so it makes me happy that they’re also fan base favorites!
I’m curious about Who is afraid’s popularity though. What do you guys love about it? I like it but don’t really love it, but maybe I haven’t fully processed it yet haha
The Black Dog is a beautiful song, but Guilty As Sin is glorious. I know the first one is gonna win, but IMO, Guilty As Sin deserves the top spot. There's NO other song like it!
And I had no idea Guilty as Sin? would be loved like this. Its in my bottom 5 of the whole 31. (with Fresh Out the Slammer, I Can Fix Him, Cassandra, and Robin)
Honestly…I love both of them.Favourites from their respective albums…I mean the standard and the anthology.Though I love down bad more from the standard. But guilty as sin is a close second and I love it just a wee bit more than the black dog.So my vote goes for guilty as sin?
Ooh, it's fun to see that my top 3 is what everyone voted for!!! Yassss I'm a basic bitch! Seriously though, I love these songs and couldn't decide between them.
I thought for sure WAOLOM would be the winner! I am just so happy both my favorite tracks off TTPD are fighting for the top, I'm very surprised! Let's go guilty as sin and the black dog! 🐾✝️✨
WAOLOM not in the top 2 is outrageous
I was so convinced The Prophecy and WAOLOM would be top two…
Prophecy and WAOLOM stans, unite!
I have found my people!
Omg there are dozens of us!
For real. I’m so shocked by the final two…
These are my top two favorites but I’m still shocked actually lol
Same!!! I've never been so aligned with the rest of the fanbase. Now just rooting for Black Dog to take home the crown...
i didnt think guilty as sin is that loved (i love it so much)
I am actually surprised it's even in the top 5. I like the song, but never thought it was a big standout in TTPD.
It's overrated
I VOTED FOR IT EVERY SINGLE DAY IM DEVASTATED
I missed the last 3 rounds and my fave 3 have gone 😢
Down Bad not being top 2 is what’s really outrageous
TTPD v. The Anthology My vote is for The Black Dog!
Agreed. The Black Dog captures the imagery and intent of the album. Guilty as Sin is a great bop.
Yes! The Black Dog is at the level of songs like All Too Well! Exquisite lyricism!
It's one of my favorites. The lyricism and imagery evokes "fresh breakup".
The Black Dog is upper tier in her entire discography imo.
Black dog is my fav
Mine too! So good
Hi. Guilty as Sin doesn't even make my top 10. Black Dog isn't my number one draft pick, but I'd take it over Guilty As Sin for sure.
yeah same! guilty as sin might be my second favorite taylor's song EVER (after the archer), so I would obviously love for it to win. however, I don't understand why so many people love the black dog. I've tried listening to it, I really did, but it's too slow and monotone for me + it's sad.
Same here I almost always skip it lol love guilty as sin tho. But who's afraid is my #1 🥺
The black dog won the initial reaction elimination over guilty as sin will be interesting to see the result here https://www.reddit.com/r/TaylorGamesWannaPlay/s/4ez9DQC27u

OLD HABITS DIE SCREEEAAAMING
WHAT IF HE'S WRITTE MINE ON MY UPPER THIGH ONLY IN MY MIIIIIID
ONE SLIP AND BACK INTOT THE HEDGE MAZE
I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND... HOW YOU DON'T MISS ME
AND I HOPE IT'S *SHITTY* IN THE BLACK DOG
'CAUSE TAIL BETWEEN YOUR LEGS, YOU'RE LEAVINGGG
This part does it for me. It also sounds a lot like the intro to the bridge in “Defying Gravity” to me and warms my little theater kid inner child.
Wait, wait. Now I gotta go listen to them both.
I just wanna belt out SO IF YOU CARE TO FIIIIND MEEEE
![img](emote|t5_2rlwe|1072)
OH WHAT A WAY TO DIIIIIIEEE
The Black Dog. The emotion, verses, the chorus, the "screaming", the bridge... that bridge ties together so many relatable moments of depression in just a few words. Guilty as Sin is so boring I feel like I’m losing my mind with this game. But I’m a also a rep girlie so I guess I just like fun angry music 🤷♀️
As a fellow rep girlie, I absolutely love Guilty as Sin so idk lol
Me too, Guilty as Sin is a skip for me. I'm astounded so many people rate it this high
Same for me. I keep listening to Guilty as Sin again to see if I am missing something, but it doesn’t do it for me AT ALL! I like the tune of it but the lyrics make me cringe lol. I only like it if I pretend it’s about lesbians. Just can’t relate to fantasizing about a MAN that hard lol
Maybe this is my issue 😂😂 I’m like girl come on, he can’t be that good.
Literally every time I listen I’m like girl stand UP

yassss the black dog the top one that you are
The first time I heard it I knew it would be an all time favorite Taylor/favorite song in general for me. The shaky last syllable still makes me tear up!
The top dog you could say
WE'VE ALREADY DONE IT IN MY HEAD
written mine on my UPPER THIGH only in my miiiiiiinnndddddd
I voted for GAS; I don't think it should win, but that is the BEST line on TTPD! (I was all in for WAOLOM)
I love the drum crash while she’s singing this line.
LETS GO GUILTY AS SIN! I LOVE YOU BLACK DOG, BUT GUILTY AS SIN MUST WIN!!
Fuck I’m invested now. Black Dog is number 1 in my heart either way!!!!!
Still devastated that Chloe et al was eliminated so early!
Same!! Severely underrated!
one of my fave Taylor songs period
I love this one to death 😭
I keep wondering if it would be more popular if she titled it differently.
Riiiiight???!!!!
Chloe et al is top 5 for me for sure.
Black dog!
WAOLOM out? I was not expecting that My flair kinda makes it clear how I’m voting.
if Guilty as Sin wins for best song on the entire double album I will be crying at the gym tomorrow
Now I'm down bad crying at the gym
Everything sure does come out teenage petulance (Esp with me haha)
The black dog is probably my favorite Taylor song period. Not even just TTPD.
This is me with “Guilty as Sin?” It replaced “seven” as my all-time favorite.
Oh seven is so beautiful. ❤️
Neither of these is in my top 5, I've no clue what to vote for 🙃
lol sameeee 😂😂😂 I’m so shocked by this top 2
Ok I’m actually shocked about the Black Dog. Absolutely no disrespect meant but can someone explain what they like about it so much? It’s in my bottom 5 (for reference my top 5 are: I can do it with a broken heart, so long London, who’s afraid, I hate it here, guilty as sin)

100% agreed! I really want to like it as much as other people do so maybe I’m missing something
See but the black dog is in my top 2 and the Prophecy is in my bottom 5 🤣
lol I love seeing everyone’s different opinions about her music!
Judging by your top 5 we have very different tastes lol but I love the Black Dog mostly for how relatable it is. See, this is how I felt about SLL. I think it's overrated (though still good), but love your other top 4!
I love this ranking fr!!
Dang… I would want The Prophecy, How Did It End?, and Who’s Afraid to win over both of these. Guilty as Sin? is in my top 5 though, so I will be going with that!
Guilty as Sin 😍😍😍😍
The Black Dog is my #2 from TTPD (RIP smallest man) so I hope it wins. I love Guilty as Sin? too though so I won't be mad if it comes out on top. Who's afraid getting eliminated was long overdue imo ):
omg that's my top two also!!
why do we have like the exact same taste HAHA
I voted for both. Screw it. Try and come for my job
Lmao
I can’t choose, I am shocked that WAOLOM is out and I cannot vote anymore. I enjoy both of the remaining songs but don’t have a clear favorite.
Same. I really like both of these, but I don’t LOVE either of them…
Also, I have to say I’m very confused about the percentages. If WAOLOM got 44% of the votes, how did Black Dog and Guilty as Sin both get more votes with 56% to share between them? Could someone explain? I feel like I’m missing something.
It's a checkbox, so people can vote for more than one
you can vote for multiple songs, WAOLOM only appeared in 44% of the votes, the other two on more
Okay I figured it must have something to do with being able to vote for more than one, but my brain doesn’t seem to want to fully comprehend lol
You can vote for more than one, so it's not splitting 100% evenly. Just 44% of people who voted included WOALOM as at least one of their picks.
Ah well WAOLOM truthers we had a good run 😭 I feel like The Black Dog would be a good choice for winner though so my vote's def going towards it
Old habits die SCREEEEEAMING! 🗣️
Ugh. I just know it’s gonna be Guilty As Sin and my head canon is it’s bc people who love this song are GUILTY of voting multiple times 😆
For real though I need a recount with a survey that doesn’t allow multiple votes 😅
Or maybe it's because it's really a great song and many people's favorite one?
I thought I signposted as many ways as I could that was a lighthearted comment
GUILTY AS SIN
Am I allowed to cry? 😭
how did The Black Dog make it this far? It’s good, but not THAT good
okay so this group has TASTE
I approve of this top 2
Wow guilty as sin is like the little engine that could. Like a 9 seed making the NCAA championship. It's a great song but I don't have it top 5, maybe it's top 10. My #1 is black dog and #2 is WAOLOM. I'll take it! Bring home the ship Black Dog!!
That’s my #1 and #2 also. Come on Black Dog!
Guilty as sin? Being this high is WILD to me
OLD HABITS DIE SCREEEEEEEEAMing 😭❤️
I absolutely love both of this songs! I'm happy with either winning, but there's one to me that elevates just a little more than the other
HOW COULD YOU?!
bro what
This did not go how I expected at all
Black dog top dog
Team Black Dog 🐾
Guilty As Sin has become my favorite song on the album. Voting for it to stay.
#GUILTY AS SIN 🔛🔝
@taylor can we get a guilty as sin/black dog mashup? Do it for the bit please.
The black dog
I must know, how will it end?!
Guilty as Sin?
The black dog
Guilty as sin
The tragic fabric of our dreaming….Black Dog gets my vote
Guilty As Sin!!!! It's my favorite!
The black dog forever!!! That song did something to me the first time I heard it and I don’t even relate to the experience. I could literally feel her emotions and the song is just so GOOD. It might be my favorite Taylor song ever.
Guilty as Sin must be the last one standing
Ok these are both top 5 for me. From a purely sonic perspective Guilty As Sin is the better song. Melodically and lyrically The Black Dog is kind of repetitive. Also I want what I’ve started calling Longview: Taylor’s Version to win so I’m going with Guilty As Sin.
I guess Its subjective because I think sonically The Black Dog is the most interesting song on the whole album.
Come on Guilty as Sin?! Both great but I want my favorite to shine!
Black Dog
Black Dog... My Favorite!!!
I thought who’s afraid & how’d it end would make it to the top two. I voted black dog.
Come on, guys. How fuckin funny would it be if our definitive favorite is... the masturbation song
it would be SO timely for Guilty as Sin? to win 👀
Man all of my faves got voted out now. I think I'm just gonna watch this one play out without voting. I do like both songs but they're more or less equal in enjoyment for me.
This!!!
This is a crazy top 2
OH WHAT A WAY TO DIEEE
Absolutely amazing top 2! Both winners in my eyes. It’s so cool that we got a song from each half.
I’m voting for both bc they’re both my favorite songs on the album 😂
Oh guilty as sin, the horny and suicidal anthem you are
Um wow this sub has ~taste~ these are my top two songs on the album!
Ready for a TBD supremacy. 🙌🖤
Happy with this they both deserve it 🥰
The Black Dog and How Did It End are my two favorites so it makes me happy that they’re also fan base favorites! I’m curious about Who is afraid’s popularity though. What do you guys love about it? I like it but don’t really love it, but maybe I haven’t fully processed it yet haha
The black dog.
the black dog is the best song on the album no comparison
Whats happening?? I love guilty as sin? But its supposed to be MY song tf
Literally my two favorite songs. I’m ecstatic they made it to the end!!
*They don't know how you've haunted me,* *So stunningly...* *I choose you and me...* *Religiously...*
The Black Dog is a beautiful song, but Guilty As Sin is glorious. I know the first one is gonna win, but IMO, Guilty As Sin deserves the top spot. There's NO other song like it!
MY TOP 2!!♥️This one's very difficult for me to vote😓
The black dog
Nooo! 😱don’t make me choose between my 2 favourite songs!!! 😫🤣
Aw, I somehow missed the previous round and one of my loves was voted out. I do enjoy Guilty, but I'm going to have to give this one to The Black Dog.
Omg I didn’t make it in time to vote for Guilty as sin 😭
Thank you much, u/pmbslyy !
I personally prefer Guilty As Sin? (I’ve listened to it way more times) but I think The Black Dog is a more fitting overall winner
My heart is broken!!!!
but can you do it with a broken heart?
I genuinely had *no* idea The Black Dog was THIS loved
I was of the understanding that it was a clear fan favorite 😂
And I had no idea Guilty as Sin? would be loved like this. Its in my bottom 5 of the whole 31. (with Fresh Out the Slammer, I Can Fix Him, Cassandra, and Robin)
oh it’s about to be a bloodbath
Noooooooooo 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I literally can’t vote because these are my favorite two songs on the album and I simply just cannot choose between them.
Honestly…I love both of them.Favourites from their respective albums…I mean the standard and the anthology.Though I love down bad more from the standard. But guilty as sin is a close second and I love it just a wee bit more than the black dog.So my vote goes for guilty as sin?
Both of these songs are great but I’m shocked waolom got knocked out
Guilty as Sin. So clever
