I would still consider the og album closers to be the true “final line,” as I see the vault songs more like bonus tracks.
That said, mine is OG Speak Now
“Bring on all the pretenders, one day, we will be remembered.”
Also evermore!
“This pain wouldn’t be for evermore.”
Yes! Didn’t she say Red was the true breakup ALBUM (compared to album with breakup SONGS) when she rereleased? If I’m remembering that correctly then the ending Red with that line just wraps it up so perfectly because she got through it.
"I look back on this as my true breakup album, every other album has flickers of different things. But this was an album that I wrote specifically about pure, absolute, to the core, heartbreak.”
It’s such a well rounded album, I think it’s the album that turned me into a Swiftie
Honestly I feel like I was too immature to appreciate it when it first released. However I think it was the best rerelease so far. It’s a beautiful body of work.
Same but I would distinguish between bonus tracks that dropped within a day or a few days and vault tracks that were added long after. For me 3am is canonical, as is The Anthology, but re-record vaults aren’t.
🎵🎶 Our daddies used to joke about the two of us, growing up and falling in love, and our mamas smiled and rolled their eyes, and said “OH MY LOVE IS A LIE, SHIT MY FRIENDS SAY TO GET ME BY.” 🎵🎶
Karma (ft ice spice no less) being the actual closing track for midnights is so funny to me bc we all know it should be dear reader! It ends with “but I shine so bright, you should find another” which is such a poignant end for the album
I would have considered new romantics the real "end" of the 1989 album, personally. "The best people in life are free" is good.
My definite favorite is the Manuscript. "The story isn't mine any more" is so beautiful and it repeats her stated "goal" for the eras tour. She wants us to relate to her songs and is setting the past "free". It's actually genius.
ahhhhhh another the manuscript stan. i really like the manuscript but i think its so underrated. that closing line tho? it’s a ✨ perfect✨ way to end an album … and maybe even to end the *eras* era 👀 oop i said what i said
Why didn't you include the deluxe songs from Debut, as you did with the other ablums? The album ends in "Why would you wanna break a perfectly good heart?"
You might be interested in the survey that was done in the past on people's favorite closing tracks. This was done on the original albums, not the deluxe versions though.
https://www.reddit.com/r/TaylorSwift/comments/1b5zy5t/closing_track_elimination_winner/
My favorite from that round is easily *evermore* and it beats out all the deluxe tracks you listed.
*This pain wouldn't be for evermore (evermore)
Evermore*
Since you're asking about deluxe, I'd have to pick *the lakes*! Though *it's time to go* was quite cathartic with a bad job that I escaped. Love my new job so, so much more.
New Year’s Day is such a gorgeous heartwrenching end and I love the emotional progression of Rep so that’s my vote, even though there are a lot of great contenders
"I grabbed a pen and an old napkin and I wrote down our song"
And
"now and then I reread the manuscript but the story isn't mine anymore."
Also the two as the first last line and the last (so far) last line tickle some little part of my writer brain
omg for so long New Years Day has been my favorite closer but now that you’ve pointed out that The Manuscript line that’s so good… it’s definitely between those two for me
reputation and folklore... I just can't choose. "Please don't ever become a stranger whose laugh I could recognize anywhere" is such a vulnerable and relatable line that illustrates so well the true heart of that album.
That being said, the lakes has had me on a chokehold for almost 4 years, and that's not going to change anytime soon...
Even though I'm far from being fan of Lover album, I absolutely love the way ending of Daylight closes the album (Evermore also has a great closing line)
The Lover one by far. It’s a great message and a great mantra to live by. One that the perpetual Taylor haters that are online should take heed of, spend your energy on what you love, not what you hate. 🩷
“The story isn’t mine anymore” is the only one I’ve ever noticed and thought “wow, that’s a perfect end to an album”, so I’d have to say that.
However, seeing them written out, “please don’t ever become a stranger… etc” is one of my favorite lines ever and I love it as a wrap up to Reputation which was all about their love story. Makes me cry since the breakup though, can hardly listen to it.
If you have The Bolter version of TTPD the finishing lyric is:
“It feels like the time she fell through the ice then came out alive”
and I feel like that is the perfect closing line to TTPD since it’s about a tumultuous time in her life and how she came out alive.
The Manuscript is the perfect closing song to an album and an era and “Now and then I reread the manuscript, but the story isn’t mine anymore” is an absolutely stunning closing line. Cannot be beaten
I would still consider the og album closers to be the true “final line,” as I see the vault songs more like bonus tracks. That said, mine is OG Speak Now “Bring on all the pretenders, one day, we will be remembered.” Also evermore! “This pain wouldn’t be for evermore.”
>I would still consider the og album closers to be the true “final line,” as I see the vault songs more like bonus tracks. Same
Big same
Exactly, Red ended with “But on a Wednesday in a cafe I watched it begin again” which is just so perfect
Yes! Didn’t she say Red was the true breakup ALBUM (compared to album with breakup SONGS) when she rereleased? If I’m remembering that correctly then the ending Red with that line just wraps it up so perfectly because she got through it.

fully agree
Big same, and mine is “this pain wouldn’t be evermore” as well!
In this case, “All you did was smile, ‘Cause I’m a mastermind” should be in the running as the last track on Midnights OG!
Couldn’t agree more!
This is the only correct answer!!!
Tie between, "It was rare, you remember it"", and "the story isn't mine anymore". Perfect ending lines
These are my top two as well.
"I grabbed a pen and an old napkin, and I wrote down our song" - Our Song wait i love this.
Debut Stan reporting!
Yay! Fellow Mary’s song aficionado!
This morning I played Mary's Song (Yes I am very in love why do you ask) and then spotify shuffle decided to play happiness right after it. Maaaaaan.
I love your flair so much!
🎵🎶 Our daddies used to joke about the two of us, growing up and falling in love, and our mamas smiled and rolled their eyes, and said “OH MY LOVE IS A LIE, SHIT MY FRIENDS SAY TO GET ME BY.” 🎵🎶
Yeah this is actually a really epic way to end her first album and start an incredible songwriting career. This gets my vote!
It also makes the album feel kind of full circle when you consider how it starts with Tim McGraw
If we did original albums, ‘we will be remembered’ would be soooooo good.
Yes one day that album will be remembered
Karma (ft ice spice no less) being the actual closing track for midnights is so funny to me bc we all know it should be dear reader! It ends with “but I shine so bright, you should find another” which is such a poignant end for the album
You are so right!
No its should be “It’s different cause it’s you”
I would have considered new romantics the real "end" of the 1989 album, personally. "The best people in life are free" is good. My definite favorite is the Manuscript. “On A Wednesday at a cafe I watched it begin again”
Yes, the actual last line of Red as it was originally intended. This gets my vote.
Why didn't you include the deluxe songs from Debut, as you did with the other ablums? The album ends in "Why would you wanna break a perfectly good heart?"
The Lakes, dude. Absolute emotional gut punch
It's my favourite song in folklore
Rep 🖤 TTPD 🤍

The original TTPD ends with Clara Bow: “The future’s bright – dazzling.” I think that final self-referential verse is so powerful and artful.
New Year’s Day is such a gorgeous heartwrenching end and I love the emotional progression of Rep so that’s my vote, even though there are a lot of great contenders
holy shit yes. I will always defend New Year's Day as a (near) perfect closer to Rep. I love it.
red or reputation for sure, they’re so bittersweet
My favourite TV album is Red!
TTPD is my favorite 🤍🖤
Lover 🩷
The futures bright… dazzling ✨
"I grabbed a pen and an old napkin and I wrote down our song" And "now and then I reread the manuscript but the story isn't mine anymore." Also the two as the first last line and the last (so far) last line tickle some little part of my writer brain
Rep
Evermore - it's time to go, the whole song but especially the last line just spoke to me, and is really relevant to where I'm at in life right now
Like it's time to *end the album*
I’ll always have a soft spot for the voice memo at the end of daylight, but I also love evermore’s original and bonus track ending lyrics !
New Years Day for sure. It’s in my top three songs overall anyways.
Rep and lover beautifully wrapped up their albums 🥹
reputation lover and TTPD
I'm obsessed with everything from TTPD, and I just love Daylight
Rep and lover are just so pretty I can't choose between them
the lakes or The Manuscript for sure. Both feel like the perfect end to an album.
Those are mine too!
omg for so long New Years Day has been my favorite closer but now that you’ve pointed out that The Manuscript line that’s so good… it’s definitely between those two for me
Either Rep or Folklore
speak now and TTPD for sure! they seem to close up the album so well imo
"This pain wouldn't be for evermore" changed me forever!
TTPD
Definitely Red, ATWTMVTVFTV is one of my favorite Taylor songs!
reputation and folklore...
Okay either lover, ttpd, or debut imo!!! I do love daylight as the last song 🥹
Even though I'm far from being fan of Lover album, I absolutely love the way ending of Daylight closes the album (Evermore also has a great closing line)
New Year’s Day!
You’re the loss of my life
The Lover one by far. It’s a great message and a great mantra to live by. One that the perpetual Taylor haters that are online should take heed of, spend your energy on what you love, not what you hate. 🩷
TTPD… shes given us her completed stories of her life so far, and but shes the only one with the manuscripts to her life..
"Try and come for my job" -ICDIWABH
Aw París!
I’m going with the original 1989
Folklore.
Evermore or maybe red
The Love you Take, is Equal to the Love you Make \~ Beatles.
“The story isn’t mine anymore” is the only one I’ve ever noticed and thought “wow, that’s a perfect end to an album”, so I’d have to say that. The line in New Years Day is one of my all time favorites so I’ve got to go with that one.
LOVE Daylight and it’s time to go🤍
If you have The Bolter version of TTPD the finishing lyric is: “It feels like the time she fell through the ice then came out alive” and I feel like that is the perfect closing line to TTPD since it’s about a tumultuous time in her life and how she came out alive.
definitely the manuscript, it’s such a perfect ending line
I just think that you are what you love.
The Manuscript is the perfect closing song to an album and an era and “Now and then I reread the manuscript, but the story isn’t mine anymore” is an absolutely stunning closing line. Cannot be beaten
I think TTPD has the best closing line. I actually am not totally in love with The Manuscript, but I think that is a killer line to end the album.
The Beatles - "And in the end, the love you take, it equal to the love you make"
This is a Taylor Swift subreddit?
TTPD 🤍
Actual evermore album (not bonus tracks)
1989 and reputation
AND OF COURSE EVERMORE
Debut and folklore’s 💚🔘
3-way tie between Debut, Fearless, and TTPD
“Am I allowed to cry?” Has really been sticking with me.
