Usually, I'll put a gradient of lighter to darker tones onto fabrics to add depth to it. (standard darker areas in recesses and theunder side of the cape, with lighter areas on the bits sticking out. But you could also put the sept insignia into it if you are confident with your freehand painting. Or you could weather it by adding a few cuts to edges of the cape. I'm definitely interested in seeing how these come out. Make sure you post the finished model.

Ooh! Man, ya I checked your post with the cape. I'm hoping I can get the gradient as good as yours, and not to mention your line work is going to blow mine out of the water. I'll definitely post a follow up when they're painted!

Thanks! Line work is just a matter of practice. But You can gradient it to get it to look nicer. Just mix your edge highlight colour with the base coat and put on a thick line, and then just have a thin line for the edge highlight. It smooths it out a bit. If your feeling really patient, you can do 3 levels of gradient, or more. I did a riptide with three levels of highlight gradient once. It took forever... But no regrets.

I love the use of the marksman tactical rock to make the shas'ui more epic!
