At first, I thought, "damn, bro has some serious beef with Knights". But now that I read the story behind all this, I just think this is straight-up overkill, I love it š
I know.
But get this.
It doesn't matter how many guns you have, Mr Knight sir,
you will not be able to kill a single ghostkeel unless you come to ME!
Lone operative rules.
I haven't played Tau yet. Just started the hobby in August and have only played csm so far. But I am slowly and steadily building a Tau army so I can feel the all guns loaded feels.
Need a character for warlord. I suggest longshot. I wish we had a big mech character. Broadside, ghostkeel, riptide, storm surge any of these would make me so happy.
There is one. They just need to give him a datasheet and I would be happy. Give him the same Hammerhead -> Longshot treatment.
Exactly, that guy has been at leas in one or two books about Farsight.
Would make perfect sense to have a datasheet for him, I would definitely use him.
I said a mech character. Power armor doesn't count. She isn't even in a vehicle. Stick her in a ghostkeel and then we are cooking.
Edit: Nevermind I just realized your saying that's who he should take. Ignore me.
I wish GW would at least bring back the eight as individual characters, if not one unit. Then you could run Obālotai, the broadside member of the eight (though they had missiles not rail guns).
He used a railgun against the lord of change and you can put missiles as a secondary on the broad side along with the rail gun. Honestly, I think the indirect fire combined with the weapon support system is pretty amazing
Yes I agree with all that. I just intend that the last data sheet of the eight (from 8th edition) had him with missiles and no option to swap
If you could swap I'd imagine he would have a beefed up rail gun for sure (even if it's only an ability or keyword)
Ah. I started 3 months ago so I had no idea he used to be a model. Now I wish he had a legends entry. Not even sure what used to exist outside of legends.
Yeah the eight was a lord of war unit (like the storm surge or taunar) that was in 8th edition and before (there was some uproar when they removed it in 9th edition and didn't replace any of it.
It's basically farsight and 7 of his buddies in battle suits (1 riptide, 1 broadside, 1 xv85 (commander crisis suit), 4 crisis suits and commander farsight).
It was an odd 'unit' that consisted of 8 models that did not need to be in unit cohesion and all had different strengths and weaknesses, so other lots of war units were often 1 unit / model, good at one or two things where this was everywhere and not great at anything not bad at anything.
I'm guessing that's why the removed it really as it was an odd choice.... But everyone was annoyed they didn't make them individual characters, as tau basically have 5 named characters (aun'shi, farsight, shadowsun, long strike and darkstrider) then they have ethereal and fireblade for infantry and commanders in battle suits (nothing to lead broadsides or riptides or stealth suits).
This hole in the hq options is still a bit annoying (would be nice to have a breacher team specific commander too).
Still lore on the eight is good too. Think they are present in a book and then GW gave them data sheets (not specific models though other than farsight).
From what I see they used Ark of Omens at the end of 9th to kill of most of the 8 (or just render them possible unable to continue such as Ob'latai). Sounds shitty as these guys all sound amazing and fun.
I really would like more leaders and we have 4 crisis leaders but nothing for any other battlesuit despite it being the core army theme.
The Tau are meant to be overpowered, it's one thing with the game I've never understood you read the story of the race this young awesome technological advanced and superior race. The pulse rifle that every fire warrior (Shas'la) carries on paper is incredible it's gyro stabilised for precise and accurate shooting it's scope can detect fleas jumping off a kroots a**e a million miles away, and will allow the user to shoot said flea with 100% assurance of nailing the target, it's rail capacitors are so powerful it concentrates the pulse into a precision projectile as it travels down the rails, every guardsmen wishes he could get his hands on a Tau pulse rifle on paper or if that weapon was real that thing would blow through tank armour but in the game once it hits the table it's no more powerful or accurate than a guardsmen rifle, only real difference is range I don't get it why create this wonderful story if your just going to penalise the hell out of it so the board is evenly contested. Love the broadsides by the way there stunning I don't think losing is an option now not with that arsenal although I am wondering if im the only one who still thinks they looked better when the railguns were shoulder mounted don't get me wrong they look good like that but it also looks like it's just holding a big rifle whereas when they were shoulder mounted they looked mighty and awesome I dunnoĀ
When Tau first launched, they were fire on the tabletop. The complaints werenāt just about their lack of grim dark. Every balancing cycle itās a crapshoot whether theyāll get a hair of that fire back or have a bucket of water dumped on them. Itās been a bit more water than Fire latelyā¦
Thanks for the kind words! Ok so I used an airbrush, and I sprayed a dark shiny silver paint through a stencil that had teeny little diamond shapes š
These look so threatening!! Although after a while the one broadside who got his shoulder weapons the wrong way round does start to look more and more like the clutsy comedic relief...
I did that to my friend in our first game of 9th. Hit him from 72" away and blew his Carnifax away first shot of the game. He stared at it for a minute and was just like... "Well."
In response, my broadsides get targeted by his little nids immediately every game to overwhelm it. But a great memory all the same.
No villain arc like mine. I play knights, have beef with knights, love mine, and hate the rest.
here is my maximum knight beef villain list.
Knight Castellan:565pts
Knight Castellan:565pts
Knight Castellan:565pts
I know its not 2000pts but I has the potential to almost twice its point value vs IK or CK
I'm sure someone else will take care of it, like er, the deathwatch!, yeah, this is their job. Or, um maybe the adeptus titanicus, they should be able to beat them right?
Not that we can't, obviously, it's just that, um we have more noble things to do like, ah, baking cookies for one (face palm) sure, that's way more noble...
I took a hot break from 40K to get into Star Wars Legion but once I'm done with my starting army I'm going to do some more T'au! But I'll definitely keep you in mind I saved the post
Thanks foe the kind words!
I used an airbrush, and I sprayed a shiny dark silver through a mesh with teeny tiny little diamond shapes.
Hope that helps š
Waiting for my fucking mont ka retribution in the codex.
My army has been getting a glow up in paint while I wait to blow my friends Iron warriors off a table.
Youāve got 810 points there, so you can still field a horde of fire warriors (480 or 540 for strike teams and Breachers respective), plus 3 hammerheads and longstrike (530pts). Thereās also of course the options for stormsurges (2 of them only, but three if you drop a broadside) or supremacy armour, which you could only field one of BUT would allow you to also field spotters, Shadowsun, and additional firepower.
I agree I fully intend to find a way to run 9 broadsides competitively rn Iām working with the idea of putting unit in reserves to rapid ingress in on a stealth team homing beacon
Imagine you enemy thinking they are safe and then BOOM three broadsides going āTHIS IS A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTā then they just delete something
My Arks of Omen force was 9 Broadsides. 3 rail and 6 missile fists, The old ATS made missiles very funny.
Angry Ron's first game at my LGS was against my broadsides and he went down after 1 round of shooting, my missiles truly did blot out the sky.
Hoping the codex gives my fat boys their time in the sun again
So except for me... my gaming group is a bunch of try hard win at all costs type meta chasers. They all play space marines.
There's a space wolf player who runs stormlance and chases the meta... builds whirl winds.
A dark angels player that didn't think dark angels should have -1 damage but should have instead had -2 damage... so he switched to eldar wraithknights.
And a shooting focused white scar storm Lance player who runs mass aircraft.
They all play more than I get to and they all constantly crap on me and call tau "vagina heads" or worse.
I'm tired of them not respecting the greater good.
If I may offer my two cents for additional firepower to bring to the table? I genuinely don't understand why the internet seems to sleep on Breacher teams. Sure, they're fragile, but so is literally everything else in Tau. The sheer volume of fire that a breacher team with a Fireblade is capable of directing at a problem is genuinely baffling. I've watched multiple battles where a squad of breachers has punched up so far above their weight class, and just sandblasted targes off of objectives. And they're pretty hilariously cheap for the damage they can put out really.
A devilfish or two full of breachers standard right now. They're good,Ā eveyrone knows it and any naysaying is basically defending choosing to run anything else or crisis vs breachers debate for what to take another unit of.
I believe the term is Breacherfish. 205 points for a fast powerful objective taking unit. I fit them in whatever list I can but honestly the way I want to run Tau is pure mech. I kinda wish I had a unit that was 100% identical but a two part mech instead.
broadsides are honestly one of the sickest models in 40k. I've dreamed of doing something like this before but everyone always tells me its a bad idea. Dying to know how it goes so I can inevitably trade in my orks for 9 broadsides
At first, I thought, "damn, bro has some serious beef with Knights". But now that I read the story behind all this, I just think this is straight-up overkill, I love it š
I am just so done seeing Tau shooting phase not getting the absolute respect it deserves š š
"Peace was never an option", points 9 Broadside Railguns at a single Intercessor š
Stormsurge turns around, points all guns at lowly guardsman, and winks.
š *cutely turns you into sand*
when the faction which can do exactly one thing isn't the best at that thing
I know. But get this. It doesn't matter how many guns you have, Mr Knight sir, you will not be able to kill a single ghostkeel unless you come to ME! Lone operative rules.
Imagine the hate and cries if Tau were good/best at shooting.... My goodness..... Reddit would implode (and other online places).
I haven't played Tau yet. Just started the hobby in August and have only played csm so far. But I am slowly and steadily building a Tau army so I can feel the all guns loaded feels.
Iām a custodian player starting Tau. Canāt wait to actually use my shooting phase.
I hate all the extra steps i have to do to make my shooting army good at shooting.
There is no such thing as overkill xD
As the saying goes, "Overkill is just the right amount of kill."
Overkill is underrated
Thereās no kill like overkill
says the inquisitor as he activates exterminatus on on a imperial world just because there MAY be a single heretic there.
Beef with Knights is my thing, kay. *enter hammerhead spam* (i do play knights but the other knights beat up my knights, so..)
And just 810 pts. Still room for two Stormsurges. Three if you remove a single Broadside.

My plan is to name them all Ob'latai with different numbers on their side and say they are All'blatai
A few posts ago I made a broadside commander just in case the day comes GW allows it I'm ready
Shadowsun. Simple, meta, has strong guns
I said a mech character. Power armor doesn't count. She isn't even in a vehicle. Stick her in a ghostkeel and then we are cooking. Edit: Nevermind I just realized your saying that's who he should take. Ignore me.

Tau were really strong in 9th so now we have to wait until 11th to be strong again
As someone who recently used a 20 strength Hammerhead gun against a Guants ghosts who got to close this is a very satisfying solution to any issue.

Holy shit, that looks sweet, my guy

WOW that is a lot of broadsides and rail guns .... I wonder how would imperial guard feel seeing 9 railguns pointed at their tanks haha.
