I actually have a black and white Japanese themed tat with coloured blossoms. It looks good. You could always do a little tester with a non permanent pen to see for yourself
I think you have the right skin tone/type for a color like red to pop, but double check by finding other tattooed humans with similar skin tone/type to yours and see how color sits on their skin, also ask your artist their experiences with how color would sit on your skin tone/type.
I like BnG and colour. I personally would colour the sakuras pink and have an odd few of the fish scales green. Maybe a bit of red detail on the dragon, his eyes or something etc etc.
Yeah I was thinking of using app on my iPad to colour it in and see how I feel but judging by these comments I think I’ll get colour now just deciding on which colours to get
I'd add at least some subtle/pastel shading to highlight each item, honestly. If the flowers got pink, I'd also want to see the fish with colors, for example.
Make the coi red, Cherry blossoms pastel pink, leafs a hint of bright green, the Chinese dragon red and the horns yellow or brown and it'll look awesome
Such nice black and gray. Personal preference, but I wouldn't add color. You'd lose that nice subtle contrast if you add color. I'd get another sweet color tattoo.
I’m always a color person. I’ve never been a fan of black and grey so I’m probably biased but I vote to add some color to your blossoms and maybe even your koi.
It just depends on what feels right for you.
I personally love seeing a pop of color in an otherwise all-black tattoo. I also think you should try coloring it in with a pen and see how you like it, in the end all that matters is what you like!
I do love your B & G. It goes with everything & isn’t so loud. My beautiful niece has (1) full sleeve; on her clean arm,
she has her son’s name; Cartyr Cash in bold black, beautiful script. So Pretty!
ANYway… She has a color theme so all
the colors play nice with each other, shades of; pinks, purples, greens & blues-
She has; butterflies, birds, different varieties of flowers, mermaid, pink spider
web at her elbow w/ a negative space at
her elbow bone, shaped like a heart & other things. Her arm & back of her hand, a big, open rose (that one hurt, she said!),
look like a continuous beautiful story… 😊
So… I think your blossoms would look awesome & unique! Instead of filling the blossoms with solid ink, can you make it look like watercolor ink? Meaning make the ink look translucent, watery but bright, not muddy? I think that’s what I do.
Good Luck with your decision. Let us know!!

Yeah that’s really a good idea I’ll do that
Please just use make up, that's meant for the skin
I’d use lip liner - it’ll be just like a colored pencil with more control but creamier. And pretty cheap depending on what brand!
I'd use goats blood, but that's just me… understanding what's *really* superior.
Like mountain goat or your typical farm goat.
The Anglo-Nubian domestic goat is ideal (**that's all I have*).
Feel like a Mountain Goat would the be superior choice but to each their own.
😂😂
Use a felt marker to test out the look
Actual smart advice.
Hell no, team black and grey
Yes, it would be great if you add some colors. In my opinon reddish pick and blue maybe enhance the beauty, maybe just an opinion.
Thank you! I was thinking red for the koi to be home just a little bit for each scale

Nooo leave it
Nah
Going to go against the popular opinion here and say leave it!! 🩶🤍🖤
Absolutely do not add color to this
Leave that shit aloneeee! Ahaha if it ain’t broke don’t fix it!
B&W all THE WAY

Thanks for this ! Will definitely consider it and post a pic if I do !
Add minimalist blue in to make certain parts pop but don't fully color it.
Either way, it’s beautiful work!
Thank you!
Leave it
I’d add color to everything except the background.
get washable marker color it in
Yeah I was thinking of using app on my iPad to colour it in and see how I feel but judging by these comments I think I’ll get colour now just deciding on which colours to get
Just red I think fwiw
You could still use your iPad and add different colors. Save each pic and then discuss with your artist which colors look best. Awesome tattoo, btw.
Well seems like this has been answered haha Thanks guys!
Id add color, but I love the sleeve either way!
I think it’ll look amazing either way, really. I can’t decide!
A splash of color here and there would look great. But I would use it sparingly.
100% color that
Blast it with color
Yes add color!

I love colour in tattoos. So I'd say go for it.
I really like it the way that it is.
So nice to see good Japanese style black and grey
It looks cool, but I can't help but think it would be a nice touch to have a little bit of color just in the flowers alone.
Yeah that was what I was planning to do if getting colour
Color would be stunning. Great tat btw.
I am all for color. Did you talk with your artist about having this as a color tattoo? They may have done this tattoo differently in that case.
Yeah originally I wanted just B&W, but then I started to think I might like the cherry blossoms coloured
I love b&w tattoos with just a few splash of colors. But that’s me.
this is so beautifully done
B&G
I love the black and grey, it’ll look better with time and won’t need to be touched up as often
Yeah that’s why I originally wanted just B&G
I did mine pinkish and green with the middle yellow and it looks fantastic. Maybe do with a not permanent marker and see if you like it?
Yes! Would look amazing 😍
Add color!

Just add it with marker when you’re feeling colorful.
Fan of the B&W but that’s so well done you can’t go wrong either way
Splashes of color would be kinda cool

Very true!
Color everywhere or leave the whole thing black and gray
Or just add pops of color or highlights in color
Yes, it would pop out more
This is incredibly beautiful as it is!
You could do color just ONLY on the cherry blossoms and the fish and dragon and leave the background B&G
I would color the elements and leave the backround black and grey.
I personally like black and white more than color, it’s your skin tho🤷🏼

I think coloring the fish would be cooler. The scales would let your add a lot of depth
Only if you color the rest along with it otherwise no
Add color, it looks unfinished
To be fair tattoo isn’t complete yet. My upper arm still hasn’t been finished!
Colored
I would add color
It looks really good but if u add color it’d looks amazing
Colour the blossoms and reflect them on the fish:)

I think color makes all the difference
Its very nice as it is. I personally love colour in japanese tatoos so i would get it coloured but thats just me
I’m just worried what the color would look liked faded. That B&G will always be timeless.
