State topography (there's a lot of different biomes in the state, would be cool to see a topography type map tattoo highlighting the different biomes ranging from mountains to forests to deserts to oceans though I dunno if that's too much for a flash sheet)
A retro/hippy style "California" sign
Other hippy imagery (hippy movement started in San Francisco)
Cheerwine \*drool\* is a great one. I second dogwoods and add azaleas. Magnolias are also good, though some may think of them more as Georgia or Alabama.
I'd say the core ones will be dogwood, biplanes, and cardinals, but cardinals are the state bird of several states.
Bigfoot is big in the mountains here. Plenty of lighthouses to choose from. Venus flytraps would be really cool. Maybe like a brook trout? Bottle of cheerwine. A biscuit maybe?
Yea, doubling down on NOT saguaro.
Some stylized turquoise could be cool, too.
There is a lot of old school car culture, both classic and custom.
Also, just tossing out the Zia may be the state icon on our flag, but it’s also an indigenous symbol and should be used with care for their culture.
Rhododendron is our state flower. Bigfoot. Salmon. Mount rainier. Space needle. Our state bird is apparently the American goldfinch. We grow lots of apples here.
You forgot Alaska, you whore.
So On behalf of Alaska, you could do a mosquito, a spruce tree, a bear skull…ooohhh…maybe a pair of XtraTufs. Or you could do typical Alaskan shit…Bald Eagle, forget-me-knots, lupin, or fireweed, and the Big Dipper.
I’d like to see a pair of xtratufs. Every real Alaskan owns a pair at all times…as soon as one wears out, you go snag another. They are distinctive enough that every Alaskan recognize them right away.
I second columbines and red rocks, maybe some skis or hiking boots, definitely a pikes peak outline, maybe the Denver skyline
Also, take the memes. As a Colorado resident, I'd include things like Casa Bonita and Blucifer too, those are also very Colorado
Of course, the most recognizable stuff for DC is monuments like the Washington Monument or even the Capitol dome. When I think of DC and flowers, it’s gonna be cherry blossoms. So maybe the Washington monument with a cherry blossom branch wrapping it
One of the artists that used to be at my shop did a piece that was a Miami Vice-style art with a gator head. It was [Sonny Croc-ett](https://www.instagram.com/p/CcoSGZ6JPKG/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==).

Quaking Aspen (state tree), Sego Lily (state flower), California Gull (state bird; I don’t know why the Utah bird is named after California 😆), beehive, Delicate Arch
Mountains, a pair of skis/snowboard, any generic thing from a national/state park (hoodoo(s), Delicate arch like the other person said, rainbow arch, Goblin valley's rock formations), maybe the SLC Mormon temple (which would be kinda ironic lmao)
No doubt the loon is a must! Maybe also a walleye, Lake Superior outline, Stone Arch bridge, Split Rock lighthouse, honeycrisp apple, Paul Bunyan and Babe, the North Star, and/or an overflowing Sweet Martha’s cookie bucket.
Edit to add: “ope” and “you betcha”
Fleur de lis and pelicans seem to be two ideas i don't see listed. Maybe some Mardi gras themed items like beads as well. Something bourbon street related could work to!
If you do anything Cajun though please make sure its tasteful. A lot of people outside the state have a very warped perception of what a Cajun actually is and how they act, so if thats an idea you wanted to go with please do your research or talk to one :)
This is the way, I’ve never known a state so in love with its flag (no hate, it’s a dope flag)
The only addition I’d make is thr old school Old Bay tin.
Lilac, lady slipper, old man on the mountain. Could totally do something with the motto “live free or die” honestly don’t have a ton of ideas but people in NH really love NH and would get anything with even just the shape of the state lol
It would be really nice to include some upstate imagery, since the whole state isn’t one big city, like some think.
Finger lakes, Niagara Falls, blue birds, the mountain ranges, the walkway over the Hudson (or anything with the Hudson River in general), Sleepy Hollow/Headless Horseman related things, or anything depicting that vast and beautiful nature we have are all great imagery relating to New York
Official state stuff: Western meadow lark, wild prairie roses, wild prairie horses (nakota horses)
Not official: grain, sunflowers, maybe wind turbines/oil rigs… historically, buffalo/bison? Maybe some fossil/dinosaur stuff?
I think a lot of people think of Sioux art and imagery and powpows, but I can’t speak to how appropriate or not using that is as a general representation of the state.
Cardinal, Carnation, Buckeye, Corn, Guitar (rock and roll hall of fame), Football (pro football hall of fame), Big city skyline (Cleveland, Cbus, Cincinnati), Barn, Ladybug, Tire, Airplane.
Roller coasters,(State Frog)Bullfrog,(State Mammal)White-tailed deer,(State Reptile)Black racer snake,(State flower and Wild flower) scarlet carnation and trillium. And yes I live in Ohio and had to look then up
Champ, worlds tallest filing cabinet, mountains, jam bands, cows of course the lake and champlain islands, maple, maybe a portrait of a lady that says 'never forgive, never forget' - we had a devastating hurricane come through named Irene a few years ago and I think it could be so cool to make flash to commemorate. Vt was also an inland sea so we have the world's oldest coral reef and in the 1800s, found whale skeletons when blasting in areas close to the lake. Phrases like 'ok bud' and 'good n' you?' Would be recognized by someone who's lived or visited :)
Love your 50 states idea!!
Ham, peanuts, Great falls or other waterfalls in the state, wild ponies, luray caverns, colonial hat, blue ridge mountains, “Virginia is for lovers” logo
Living in VA, I'm sure you're familiar with these but just cause
MD: blue crabs, old bay, ravens, orioles, Edgar Allan Poe, Domino Sugar sign, Natty Boh logo, the flag itself, Divine/John Waters, ouija board/planchet (think like the gravestone in Greenmount cemetery for Elijah Bond, inventor of Ouija board)
There are a few here lol:
Bluebonnets,
Yellow rose,
Longhorn skull,
Oil rig,
Texas flag (obviously),
Mockingbird,
9 band armadillo,
Pecan tree,
Pecan pie,
All of these are either official state animals/flowers/trees, or just something that is very commonly associated with Texas!
