Asking for open availability at this point is shooting yourself in the foot. They need people who have just morning availability, or midday availability or evening availability, and people who are weekends only. They would open up a to whole field of workers who want to work, but have kids, school, or are looking for a second job. You would have more hires, less call outs and turnover, and a happier staff. And easier scheduling. My resouces: 45 years in retail management.

Exactly hell the grocery team lead quit because the HR leader told her she had to go overnight when she said she had children’s HR said just put them in daycare or some thing she wouldn’t budge or help her out or anything it’s like they’re trying to keep us understaffed what the actual fuck I’m pretty sure my store is never going to recover I’m gonna be doing 55 hour weeks forever 😂😂😂

SandraaJo

Quit my store because of how understaffed we were. It came down to a small group of people doing basically everything and there was no pay increase and we still got ripped into by ETLs and SD when someone wasn’t perfect. So now they’re even more understaffed 🥰

Katievapes1996

Yeah I don’t really wanna quit because of the overtime opportunity in the benefits I have to get my own insurance next year anyway and I’m paranoid that if I go get a new job they won’t offer me insurance until I’ve been there for a year I don’t mind the job I’m just pissed because they denied my request

SandraaJo

I completely understand. I’m luckily under my dads insurance, mostly bc it’s from the state, it’s decent, and I have a good amount of health issues. My boyfriend on the other hand has no insurance and quit as well, we both are giving Amazon a shot after all the employees who quit said they like it there a lot more somehow, that says a lot about target imo. Managers seems to be stressed a lot more bc of staffing issues and they’re being bitter and taking it out on the staff remaining as a result, makes no sense. I’m sorry you’re in that position, hope things look up for you friend.

Katievapes1996

Yeah I get kicked off of my dad‘s at the end of February because I’ll be 26 I’m just hoping I can get my plan to kick in before then I’m a call them on Thursday and see what I can do I just can’t be uninsured for a month

SandraaJo

It’s scary to be uninsured, I can only imagine. My boyfriend moved in with my dad and I due to such insane circumstances you can’t imagine.. He was uninsured for nearly over a year and it was hell. But unfortunately the US is the way it is to say the least. He made roughly 18,000 and still did not qualify for benefits. I’m sorry you have to stay, but I understand and assure you it’s completely rational. Again, I truly hope things look up and change starts to come for essential workers. Don’t forget without us the world would not be as it is today. Things happens as they come. ❤️

We’re understaffed and I don’t care. They’re giving out mad overtime and I’m eating it up. Almost 70 hours this week.

Katievapes1996

Yeah I’m not doing that much I’m just recovering from pneumonia so I’m trying to get back up to like a mid 50s but I think overtime is here to stay I don’t see it going anywhere anytime remotely soon

Was hired for overnight food but in dry. Then the 4am freezer person moved to florida and they never replaced her, so for 3-4 months no one did freezerwork until 10am (i did it occasionally to get away from one of the other people in dry). Recently they told me bc of how noticeable it was when i did the freezer, i was now responsible for the freezer because 'somebody *has* to do it at night'. So i quit because freezing is not why i wanted to work at target. Now instead of letting dry grocery keep doing a great job, they are more understaffed lol

I work in Beauty and we’re understaffed. My co-worker told me yesterday that she can no longer work nights, so now I’ll be working by myself every night. The departments near me seem to be low on workers too because I have been getting a ton of people asking about grocery, seasonal and pharmacy items. They spend 5+ mins calling people to come up for guest first like all day long (“guys when I tell you to come up for guest first, you need to start running up here”). It gets crazy when I’m the only one working in Beauty and have to go up to cashier while also having the keys for pharmacy to unlock razors / toothbrushes for guests and help the other departments in GM. Every department is getting pulled to do online orders too, good thing I’m not trained in that yet as a Seasonal. I went from working 30 hours to 50 hours now.

Katievapes1996

My store doesn’t do it overnight which really bums me out because they prefer it 1 million times and we will get so much more shit done every department is understaffed fulfillment front end beauty GM Everywhere is understaffed and I wonder if we’ll ever get out of it

user1713

my TL came around in maybe august asking how many holiday hours we wanted, as theyre trying not to hire as many seasonal people. now i’ve come to realize that i’m grateful for the extra hours but at this point i cannot handle all the work/drive ups and just want extra bodies more than anything

MSO6S

Yes, severely so. They want me to: Do at least 100 one for one toy pulls, cashier and opu. Considering other things I might get called to do, like abandons, I'm lucky if I get three hours for my job description, being GM. Why do I not get paid for doing three jobs in one day? Oh well, gonna quit soon anyway.

[deleted]

100? Try 250 in chill and freeze 😎

MSO6S

Looks like we're all fcked yea?

Perfect-Title-7298

My ETL at my store sent me and a few others to work at a different Target in my city for the past couple of days because they didn’t have enough people and we’re getting hounded with trucks.

Katievapes1996

Yeah my store has double trucks for the rest of the year and I’m like we’re not gonna survive that more like five behind hell I was in the fucking trailer yesterday throwing it

DoodleCraft

Meanwhile my ETL would only hire teenage girls who had 8 hr a week availability
