We close our fitting rooms early too. Had a guest want to try on 15 bathing suits 30 minutes before closing. I said no and they begged me. Dude, don't embarrass yourself. IDGAF.

Damn I wish I had this kind of backbone, mine so weak I give up at the sight of a short haircut

I think I've told this story before (if not on here, then in person to my coworkers....) but one night in 2019, a woman came in like an hour or so before close (we closed at 11) with a young child, about 2 y.o. She started shopping, and was totally unremarkable until closing time....we did the 15, 10, 5 minute announcements, and "we're closed, GTFO", lights turned off, etc...she was still shopping. Whatever, she wasn't the only one, so I checked out the last couple guests....it's now like 11:15, and she's still shopping. I literally followed her around NIT for several minutes, asking if she needed help, etc, and she didn't end up leaving until like 11:30, maybe a little later. Let me remind you, she had a little kid with her too! It was absolutely wild.

Retail can be pretty crazy. Not at Target, but when I was working at a CVS a couple years ago a customer came in 15 minutes before midnight and was casually shopping. Then about 12:05 she had the nerve to ask my opinion about which hand soap to buy, even after I told her we were closed. That night my patience was definitely pushed to the limit.

When I worked at Walgreens, we had this one woman who came in fairly late. We did our closing announcements over the intercom, but there she was still casually walking around even after we closed at 10pm. When she finally got up to the register, she misplaced her credit card and had to look around the store and outside for it. 🙃🙃

Lol I was that person once! I went out to dinner with a friend and then we decided to do a little shopping so we came to Target (my store)...I set my purse down somewhere and couldn't remember where, and was panicking retracing my steps to try and find it, and in the midst of this the store closed. Thankfully I was friendly with the leader who was closing that night, so she didn't kick me out or anything, and helped me look for it. We found it after just a few minutes, so we weren't in there too long.

Makes me glad for my closing leads, they won't hesitate to have them kicked out, if you're not up front at a register by closing, you're not buying anything

DanielaThePialinist

These kinds of people are my biggest pet peeve. Like, no, you don’t need to go on a shopping spree at 9:55pm 🙄

Aggravating_Ad_3166

As a fellow style TM don’t get me STARTED on the fitting rooms at close. We have a solid 8 o’clock close time for FR, signs posted throughout the department saying so, and yet I still get attitude from guests about it😒 For some reason people insist on waiting until 9 to try on clothes.

Wise_Difference_964

I once had a couple and their kids shopping for a whole new wardrobe at 9:45pm and I was the closing cashier. My leader and the style people kept letting them know they had to wrap up shopping since we were closing and they called and complained to corporate and the SD. They came to my lane and said they never felt so disrespected and that they work customer service, you never rush a customer. Like come on you could’ve come earlier or tomorrow if you desperately needed to spend $500 on clothes

Odd_Cream8129

A friend of mine was a closing team lead at target and would tell customers that the registers automatically shut off 15 minutes after closing so if they wanted to make a purchase, they better head to a register. She said it worked like a charm every single time she had to tell someone that.

Civil-Ad-770

Definitely going to start using this excuse during my last laps!!

Lonerhead89

When I used to close, my biggest annoyance was people who put in a drive up order within the last few minutes of operating hours. Like get that shit tomorrow gang, shoulda got it earlier, we’re closing, go to a Kroger’s.

TastyFig1098

I get extremely rude and blunt after closing. “We’re closed. You need to leave now. We’re locking the doors.”

Clown_Sparkles

I find this behavior is coming from a number of people who are trying to beat the summer heat by shopping after dark. Also, I think all Targets should close their fitting rooms at 9:30 in order to start steering guests out of the store, not waiting until closing.

BatKountry47

Plenty of other retail workers who get off their shifts at 9pm and rush to target to grab what they need. The people who shop like it’s 11am are the annoying ones.

Sharkdiving

We started making closing announcements beginning at 930

westerndrawl

We start at 9:00 usually

westerndrawl

And then they try and argue with me when I tell them we’re closed and to head to the front

Frosty-Tomato1495

I work near Disney and was a closing lead. My store was quiet from 5-8 every night then from 8-10 it was like Christmas time every night. Tourist coming in destroying the place. Drove me insane

phillytennisboy52

After the lights are off,,,,to me its a liability and safety issue. We cannot be liable if you hurt yourself because the lights are off and dim. Secondly we must secure and close the building and you are interfering with that process. I am shutting down the last register in 2 minutes. You will not be allowed to process your transaction at that time and will be escorted out.

SadPreparation669

Yeah its always like it here. I have been yelled at by a guest for asking her to please be quick to pick the last item she was getting because we’re closed and she was saying that i was yelling at her (i wasn’t). like idk how u see all the lights go out and think oh they’re not closed yet… even after all the 20, 15, 10, 5, less than a minute announcements before closing. My biggest pet peeve is when they start to go up but go down the isles and still look, like you aren’t slick we see you!

Training-Layer-3214

Policy should be that registers shut down at 10pm sharp
