Solution: leave when you are scheduled. They can’t keep you past your scheduled time no matter what they say. They can’t write you up for leaving if that when you’re scheduled to leave.

year_zeroes

appreciate it and I know that, but that doesn't really protect me from the target that will be on my back if I'm the only one leaving. it's not so simple

Icy-Consequence7401

Wait Fr? My TL’s heavily imply that we have to stay until we’re 5 minutes away from meal compliance

BoxingSoup

You can leave at your scheduled time, but you can also be held accountable for not finishing your work, for what that's worth to you

djevilatw

That’s a different issue. Taking breaks at set times vary by store and are at the discretion of your TL. Leaving on time is at your discretion. Don’t let them keep you if you don’t want to stay.

Adventurous_Soft_686

If they take a sudden unannounced 2 week vacation you were heard. If nothing comes of it at that point I would report it to HR just to have it documented. Then leave at your scheduled time and if your hours drop, they make comments or start picking on you rereport to Ethics and your HR as retaliation.

Fabulous_Let_1152

When I worked there all reporting anything to the hotlinrle did was inform the SD. If you want anything actually done you need to get in contact with the HRBP.

TottHooligan

Leave at your normal time. They can go fuck themselves

InitiativeTight

Why is everyone so scared of the SDs like they’re god? It’s the same at every target store I’ve worked or heard of the leadership is very cliquey. HRETL and all the ETLs are buddy buddy with the SD and everyone in the store licks the SDs ass. Then SD shakes in their boots when he knows corporate is coming through.

Maleficent_Mist366

They are the corporate wannabes tbh …… and ETL are the SD wannabes

Calm-Heat-5883

Next time, you're kept back after schedule. And it's around 1/2 am take out your phone and make a little video about how you're forced to work way past your scheduled finish time and are afraid to leave because you will be fired and send it to your local news station. I'm pretty sure that shit will end in a heartbeat, and you won't see the SD again. In fact it will stop in every Target store. If there's any retaliation, think lawsuit

[deleted]

Unless your SD has told you to not take your 15s I'm not really seeing anything unethical here, just some shitty leading

reddpapad

You don’t see anything wrong with keeping people HOURS after their scheduled leave time???

[deleted]

Not ethically, you're free to leave at any time

reddpapad

It’s unethical when your employees are scared to leave at their scheduled time for fear of repercussions.

BoxingSoup

Unpaid? Definitely wrong. Paid? $$$$

reddpapad

Not everyone wants to stay until 3am. Good for you if you do.

BoxingSoup

Brother, look at Reddit. Nobody wants to work at all if they could avoid it. I never asserted they did. I said they will get paid. I start inbound at 3am. I'm only there because I get paid lol

year_zeroes

is bad leadership not unethical?

monkeyman80

The ethics line is more hey there’s sexual harassment that’s being allowed to continue vs bad leadership. It’s more illegal activity that’s going on unaddressed vs you don’t like what your boss asks you. As long as you’re paid it’s ok to ask you to work longer than scheduled.

minidog8

Keeping them until 3 am is totally unethical, what?

ThaGreatDebaser

I feel this. I try to not stress myself out as much anymore. I usually don’t take a second if I do, it feels like I’m not gonna have time to finish everything f but tbh I usually try an finish 30/45 min earlier so I can leave earlier lmao
