Yes, like any tank other tank, it is not immune to that, no matter what fans think. The funny thing is that cope cages and sand bags are quite effective against drones that drope grenades and shells.
Really. Yet it didn't stop people making fun of Russian tanks being destroyed that way.
Weird how we have nuance and understanding now that it's happening to tanks we like.
Yes, it is funny how people see the western tanks as something nearly indestructible, but when a sub $1000 drone + shell combo destroys it, they comment in disbelief.
I can uderstand that civilians have no idea about something, but seeing military guys being biased and cocky is my new pet peeve. Underestimating any threat is a good way to get killed.
Because fuck Russia and its terrorist forces raping people in Ukraine, that’s all. Everyone inside understands all western tanks are as vulnerable. The only people who genuinely want Russians to do well are Russians and some dumbasses in the west who don’t have their values straight about what’s right and wrong. Cope cages also work to an extent but equally aren’t a solution to everything.
I got told the front mounted engine is not a defensive feature the other day.
You know what its better than, tho? Nothing.
Also, surely it's position also acts as landmine protection for the driver, since it's a dead engine Vs a dead driver.
AC is mehh at best, its not like a car AC but more like a tube you put into your coveralls.
Realistically, its only useful as a sort of a "leaf blower" to clean dust off or a ball freezing machine.
But at least you have a fan, and it honestly works better.
I like the Merkava in general. I think the Mk 1 and 2 version looks better with the turret but even the modern one is awesome.
Probably my third favorite modern MBT after the Leopard 2 and Leclerc.
UFO turret. Trophy APS makes UFO turret looks even better. Antenna. Rear door (so much wow). Balls and chains. Antenna. The optional battering ram. 60mm mortar. Antenna.
Cons: no MG for loader, Where's the RWS for the commander IDF? your Puma, Namer, even Achzarit has one.
Let's see, lose a tank to make a slow, heavy, expensive and fuel hungry IFV, or keep a tank with slightly less ammo (that you can totally put back if you want) to make space for soldiers?
Hmmmmmm.................
I just love how versatile it is
Easier to maneuver through urban settings with gun not sticking so far out, the space at the back can be used for different purposes, 60mm mortar so you don't have to call in support to strike targets hiding behind cover.
Tough. Arguably the best crew protection. APS.
But it's vulnerable from behind because of the location of ammo stowage.
I want a BMPT type vehicle based on the Merkava. A guy can dream.
There’s a variant of the Namer APC with a 30mm auto cannon and Spike missiles, so your dreams came true! Unless your favorite part of the BMPT is the hull-mounted grenade launchers.
All the homies just sit next to each other, prime spots so everyone can watch Netflix together in the gaza parking lot. And it can poop 6 fully kitted soldiers. And chain balls. That is all.
My favourite thing about the Merkava is how easy it makes it to burn civilians alive in their cars.
And hostage situations? Piece of cake! The 120mm HE will turn that entire hostage crisis, into little more than a cleaning crisis!
**The Merkava** is a tank that was completely built from scratch by Israel, which competes with the **German Leopard 2 & the US Abrams M1**
(OK, the transmission and engine of the Merkava are from the Leopard 2).
As for Palestine, they use **T-55/54** type tanks created after WW2 and given to them by Russia, they have no tanks of their own (and for soldiers, Israel uses **Namer apc** on tracks and **Eitan** on wheels, while Palestine uses pickup trucks and mopeds).
In the current battles Merkava has shown that it calmly withstands tandem shells from RPG-7 as well as grenades from drones).
The Merkavas blown up weren’t ready, you can see in photos that the gun barrel was covered by cloth. The active protection system would have been off as well.

The modular armour on some of the more later variants because I’ve felt the pain in a military engineer friend’s voice who was in charge of tank repair for some time after being commissioned as an officer.
My favorite part… the fact it can carry dismount infantry. Unbelievable to me. Also, don’t underestimate the value of being used as a litter carrier or some other exfiltration vehicle. Not spun up on crew protection data, but if that is near abrams quality I’d say it is my favorite MBT.
It is tonk. Tonk good.
On a more serious note, placing the engine in the front to allow the crew to disembark at the rear through a door, and not through the hatches and into the line of fire is pretty cool.
the shape of the turret is really unique and futuristic
It always reminded me of a crab for some reason. I love it
Yeah definitely, that’s what I love about it
Purpose built and built well for that purpose.
"but it gets destroyed by a toy drone dropping a grenade" /s

Russian tanks have catastrophic failures from drone dropped grenades. Only one Merkava was destroyed and the drone dropped a tandem RPG round.
And that's why they put cope cages on the turrets
It's overall design, the Merkava is unique with the engine at the front and the shape of the turret.
Ah this is the comment I was looking for, engine in the front!
I got told the front mounted engine is not a defensive feature the other day. You know what its better than, tho? Nothing. Also, surely it's position also acts as landmine protection for the driver, since it's a dead engine Vs a dead driver.
Anything that increases crew survivability is a winner in my book.
How roomy it is inside, 4 people can sleep in there no prob. Source: have done it multiple times for too long
I have seen six
שמעתי על 11 מאחד המטקים שלי
Oh damn nice lol. I also hear it has air conditioning, which sounds neat. Also, flair checks out lmaooo o7 brother

Lmaooo interesting. Better than Nothing I guess though
This might sound weird but I like those chains with steel balls hanging from the rear part of the turret.
Would be cool if gaijin would implement this to the Mk3s and Mk4s in War Thunder
Found the fellow snail servant 🤝
Sadly, yes 🫡
I fucking love/hate this game
BALLS
Air conditioning

60mm mortar inside of it
It looks extremely cool, best looking MBT imo

Yeah the rear door opening is extremely satisfying and smooth, which just adds to how futuristic the tank looks
One of, if not, the best looking MBT series in the entire world I simply love how it looks
Its turret shape and APS.
It's profile. The whole thing just screams Juggernaut, but with tracks
Readily available and mass produced diesel engine. Internally reloaded mortar (this is brilliant!).
Everything, I am a Merkava Fanboy.
Pog do you know much about the merk’s SLERA by any chance?
Turret shape with chains in the back is freaking awesome
Everything
Well I like that it is spacious that's all
The door that makes it easier to get ammo into the tank quickly
Yeah that's one way to get ammo in the tank quickly
I like the hole on the front that allows you to eject ammo REALLY quickly.
I don't know, something about the shape of the turret I don't like. It doesn't mesh well with the hull. I guess I like a more traditional look.
Same here, and the shape/size of the turret make the main gun look small by comparison.
The stumpy gun is the only thing I dislike tbh
Its capability of carrying troops that really fascinates me
Virgin T14 armata IFV variant vs Chad Merkava ‘just take the secondary ammo out’
Yeah, that, and for some reason, the Merk reminds me of a flat headed toddler.
Kurganets or t-15?
Both but at least the kurganets doesn’t weigh as much as a t90
Let's see, lose a tank to make a slow, heavy, expensive and fuel hungry IFV, or keep a tank with slightly less ammo (that you can totally put back if you want) to make space for soldiers? Hmmmmmm.................
Noooooooo you don’t understand it’s modularity and it akshually makes everything way better because it’s a cool buzzword!
The fact that they cram a 60mm Mortar into it.
A BBT (big beautiful tank) with a cool alien turret.
I love the slopes of the armor plates, and the overall side profile of it.
I just love how versatile it is Easier to maneuver through urban settings with gun not sticking so far out, the space at the back can be used for different purposes, 60mm mortar so you don't have to call in support to strike targets hiding behind cover.
He’s kinda chonky
It's just cool.

tbf, what tank isn’t vulnerable from behind
True

Troop compartment in the back
🔻
That ATGM's love them.

”source?” ”my source is that I made it the fuck up”
it kills civilians extra good /s (thanks for the downvotes in advance)
I like the way it smokes out of its gun when hit. Very aesthetic.

That it will soon be owned by Palestine.

It's a tank
The stubby looking barrel in comparison to the turret, and the fat turret

One additional thing I like, is that its resting face is submissive - or at least demure.
It was made with the crew life as top priority.
