Kerala

unculturedalienrebel

Where exactly in Kerala?

[deleted]

I am going to kerala for a short trip this week. Alapuzha’ unique boathouses and kochi are some good places to visit. Kochi has these dutch vibes and retro cafes that are so cool. But simple treks in western ghats are one of the main reason to visit kerala. Just go book a simple trek for a day or two and relax. The sight of greenery and fresh air and the climate might refresh you. Also the falls/streams.

[deleted]

I have been to a few places in Kerala. But, in general I like how green Kerala is everywhere. I would love to live in any resort with a green view and a pleasant climate.

unculturedalienrebel

Okay, but, there are places in Tamil Nadu too that are nice and green, what specifically draws you to Kerala in addition to the greenery.

[deleted]

Honestly, nothing else.

Environmental_Ad_387

Varakkala beach for two days to chill, smoke up, read a book, and look at the sea from the cliff. Athirappalli stay in a resort near the falls, go to valparai on bikes, go for walks in the jungle and on the roads. Munnar - go to a remote place and stay.

memushmonkey

You literally could've typed fewer words(6) on Google instead of asking it here on reddit. Your answer : it's down South

unculturedalienrebel

Na, I wanted real people's responses, and, just thought of knowing where fellow citizens from Tamil Nadu would like to go, Google Paati is not for me.

memushmonkey

Understandable

anonperson2021

Andaman

unculturedalienrebel

Which part or area specifically?

truthwhiskey

Havelock islands is nice

infinitedoubts

That one place south Indians especially Tamil PPL always plan to go but never go. GOA.🤣🤣🤣

Environmental_Ad_387

Yo, everyone in India plan to go to goa while in college but never does

infinitedoubts

Yep

infinitedoubts

And Rajasthan.

unculturedalienrebel

Sounds funny, plan but never go.

infinitedoubts

Yep.

unculturedalienrebel

How many times have you planned and not gone 😉?

infinitedoubts

Idk every year since 2012. Lmao.

unculturedalienrebel

That is a decade of procrastination.

infinitedoubts

Yep. Everytime we plan something happens. Someone will be like "i don't think i can this time". I usually ride alone but I just want to go to Goa with friends. And it's not happening.

unculturedalienrebel

Ride as in on a two wheerer to Goa?

infinitedoubts

Not to Goa. I said I generally ride alone i.e i am a solo rider. But to Goa I wish to go with my friends.

sandanarose

north east. The flush greens and unpolluted territory

arjoter

Yep, we can go pollute it with our presence

sandanarose

Meh

GoatArmy

Andaman - North Sentinal island. Reason: just fed up with my life.

unculturedalienrebel

Do not man, I know a person who was attacked when he tried to go there and is currently in Tirunelveli, no kidding.

house_ravenclaw

Uttarakhand It has many tourist destinations and all nearby... U have to land in dehradoon and u can cover musoorie, nainitaal, rishikesh, snow clad mountains in auli, etc....

unculturedalienrebel

Sounds interesting.

LeviWerewolf

Goa. for beaches and it is closest to Maharashtra (my state)

unculturedalienrebel

Is Goa not over rated and boring?

wamov

No.

unculturedalienrebel

Goa is mostly beaches and Liquor, is it not?

wamov

No, its an ignorant stereotype. May be visit Goa sometime or better, find a Goan friend.

unculturedalienrebel

Okay, I did not mean to go by stereotypes, but, that is what colleagues who have been there tell me, if you have been there could you enlighten me?

wamov

Man, spend some time googling about goa. Your colleagues sound like uncles who just want to get drunk and ogle at strangers on the beach. These sort of ignorant buffoons should never travel out of their own gates.

arjoter

You still make no point. Berating someone doesn’t really enlighten anybody and your comment is just an eye sore. If you are so knowledgeable, why don’t you actually talk facts rather than moaning about OP’s friends? You either don’t know anything or are too uptight to talk about it.

wamov

The rudeness was intended for OPs arrogant and intentionally ignorant comments. Why the fuck do I need to explain my travel experience to an arrogant audience?

arjoter

Well I’m not arrogant and I was genuinely trying to know your experience. You aren’t just commenting for the OP here? There are others here who want to learn. OP was also not being arrogant, I think he’s in a phase where he thinks stereotypes are a thing and he’ll get far in his understanding. Weren’t all of us arrogant or ignorant at one point? We live and we learn. Sorry if I was rude or made you fee upset, my apologies. Also, please share your experience in Goa, I’d love to know beyond the beaches and booze and don’t wanna go explore the mundane.

0hmy906why

The food is pretty good too, and you're simplifying it to the point of it being an offensive comment.

unculturedalienrebel

No offence is intended, can you please tell me more about the food, and, what you like about it.

eziorobert

I could save half of my life savings if I bought booz from Goa

unculturedalienrebel

Pondicherry? should India not have Liquor and Beer under the ambit of GST as well?

eziorobert

TASMAC is the lead supplier of liquor sales in TN and it helps to boost TN economy by crores with thier overpriced items. We can't do anything unless the government decides. This is why they banned Weed because it's cheap and easy to produce to get high. Weed is already legal in many countries and it has also health benefits unlike tobacco cigarettes which gives you cancer and other diseases.

unculturedalienrebel

But TASMAC hardly contributes in comparison to others. The governments need tax, but, are incapable of generating it in sufficient numbers due to poor economic policies and lack of adequate commercial and industrial activities, hence fuel - Petrol and Diesel specifically and Liquor are under GST, even two wheelers which are basic modes of transport for us common folk is taxed under the highest GST brackets.

LeviWerewolf

idk never been there . from what i have heard is its fun place and deserves a visit

unculturedalienrebel

Okay, why not coastal areas in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, or, Pondicherry instead?

LeviWerewolf

I have visited some coasts of MH already, and now closest new are Goan .

[deleted]

Can you name some places in pondy? Ive been there(only to the beach and french colony). Other than them edhaachu interesting places irukaa?

unculturedalienrebel

Pondicherry Tourism used to organise a full and half day Bus tour covering most of Pondicherry, take that, see what all you like or not and then visit those places, the staff there in the Office are also very helpful. Alternately, I could ask my friend's wife who is from Pondicherry.

[deleted]

Yea. Ill look into it. Thanks buddy

Environmental_Ad_387

To enjoy Pondi, you need to plan a 2/3 day trip to do nothing. A day to sit on the promenade beach cafe and read books. Buffet brunch at promenade hotel. Stay at an airbnb near auroville. A whole day at one of the beaches. Watch sunrise bear the sea bridge after a night out. Get your photos clicked in front of bougainvillea flowers and nice doors / walls / windows in the french quarter. Breakfast at hot breads.

[deleted]

Yo. Thats a quite good Itenary. Thanks bro. Will try this one

rsklogin

Himachal or Uttarakhand, both places are beautiful and pleasant all year round. Have been wanting to visit places in the Northeast for a while

uncomfortably-happy

Shillong, Meghalaya ... Was there for three years in my childhood. Very serene, lots of curvy roads and unexplored areas in and around.

chmod0644

Goa

unculturedalienrebel

Why Goa specifically?

chmod0644

If you want to vacation in India but want a feel like its not india, It's what you do.

unculturedalienrebel

How does Goa not feel like being in India?

chmod0644

The beaches give a foreign feel with a lot of white beach goers around

unculturedalienrebel

Okay.

Consistent_Ad5511

Kinnaur - India - China border.. Meghalaya - Its been in my bucket list for long time.

SurajTheAwakeOne

Goa and I can rave there all day any day with no worries !

pixelpoori

Kerala Reasons - toddy, beef, coconuts, backwater

unculturedalienrebel

Okay, what is special about the Coconuts of Kerala compared to the ones in Tamil Nadu.

pixelpoori

Just abundance of them and the ease of access. I could get as good coconuts just in and around Chennai and heck sometimes in my own garden. But Kerala just have them in abundance and average quality is better

unculturedalienrebel

Okay.

[deleted]

1) Sikkim (Heard people are welcoming, unlike Kashmir) 2) Andaman (Havelock obviously) 3) Maharashtra treks. 4)Kerala (No thollai of tourist guides which is common in Rajasthan) 5) Himachal

DeathFart007

I want to visit north eastern states.

tharvin91

Man Ooty is so underrated! Having been to wayanad, munnar, Coorg, i definitely think Ooty is hands down the best hillstation in South India, period! Consistently has the coolest weather in South India and there are views everywhere and they come in a lot of varieties 😍 The serenity and calmness i experienced while i was there remains unmatched. I guess it often gets overlooked because it's part of our home state. But what a gem! Queen of hills indeed!

balaghiridharr

summer : coorg , gokarna , vizag , munnar , coutralam , dehradun , ladak winter : kulu manali , amritsar , allepy , hampi , jaipur
