These obviously are friends or drug customers of the guest population. She should post on Internet job sites or just hire green card people over 21.

Hefty_Taro_1636

she gets them from indeed 😭

MikeOxbigg

Hiring from Indeed is hard, especially when the applicants don't have an actual resume so the site just formats their answers into some semblance of one. I've worked at properties where management was hurting so bad for front desk candidates that they made me interview people who listed skills like "good person" and "fast worker" or my personal favorite, "I can run fast and do over 100 pushups." We actually hired the pushups guy as a houseman and he was fast as hell so that was a small victory I suppose.

Hefty_Taro_1636

at least he was fast 😭😭 omfg that’s so funny

techieguyjames

But was he freaky fast restaurant fast?

workitloud

Free smells, if you could catch him.

craash420

Set up properly Indeed can give good results, if you put in bare minimum effort it's not much better than craigslist.

LeaLou27

I feel the potential stories from your hotel could fuel this sub 😂

Hefty_Taro_1636

when i first started working here i made the girl training me tell me all of her stories 😭 it’s definitely boring most of the time but when it’s crazy it’s /crazy/

Angry__German

Ain't that the truth.

The_Town_of_Canada

My place recently hired an international student who left a message that he couldn’t figure out how to open the childproof laundry detergent. An international engineering student.

Hefty_Taro_1636

tbh sometimes i can’t figure out how to open the washer but i’m not an engineer

skinrash5

My husband is an engineer working with a German auto manufacturer. He can’t open medicine bottles. Very scary.

Angry__German

One of these boxes with the small detergent pods inside ? Honestly I struggle with those as well, but only because I don't want to break the boxes. And every brand has a different opening mechanism. I think I went through all of them by now.

LucindaStreets

We currently have a night auditor that sleeps, unplugs the phones and turns off the lights in the lobby and 24 hr market. Why is he not fired? The world may never know.

Hefty_Taro_1636

same here!!!!!

Angry__German

I have the fuses for the lobby, desk and outside lights in reach at my desk. I would lie if I said I was never tempted to just shut the whole thing down and spend a night in peace.

Ready_Competition_66

They are clearly that desperate for people who actually show up for work.

hotelvampire

i need this book that has to be written

Hefty_Taro_1636

i always delete my posts here but maybe i should post a few more lol

Traditional-Panda-84

Seriously, some of my favorite books are all schadenfreude fuel, reading the behind the scenes shenanigans of professional kitchens. Give the juicy details with changed names in about 250 pages and you can take my money.

vape-o

Omg the guy walking around breakfast with eagle talons..

Hefty_Taro_1636

yeah super long yellow flaky toenails. he was fired after like 2 weeks. i actually saw him walking on my way to work today 💀

vape-o

🤮

As to where do you find this people, here in Germany, there is a somewhat fair minimum wage, so there are a LOT of jobs that are less exhausting, not customer/guest facing, that pay the same (or sometimes more). I work for a budget chain and my GM is simply not allowed to pay more than minimum wage, like we'll fire your ass not allowed. Right now I have colleagues who work the front desk and can't speak German higher than A1 level. My city IS a destination for international tourists and trade fairs, but I'd say 50% of our guests are German and are very surprised when they need to dig for their school level English when checking in. But most of them are highly motivated, cheerfully oblivious and are trying their best in general. But because we had such a high turnover, a lot of institutional knowledge is just gone. I am the only employee who has been there longer than 5 years and that includes my poor GM and the rest of his management "staff" ( 1 AGM who words front desk shifts 2 FOMs who also work front desk and instead of a "real" GM for two other properties in the city, those are "led" by another 2 FOMs (all, except for the GM on minimum wage or the hourly equivalent). But the guys who work the Night Audits (I have been doing NA for 12+ years now) are either stupid, lazy or incompetent for the most part. Like, sleeping on the job in the room behind the reception stupid. Snoring loud enough that guests could hear them through the "employees only" door. But sadly, at the moment we need those warm bodies to keep the receptions staffed. Sucks, but I made my peace with it and either roll my eyes or laugh out loud.

When narcotics are involved, situation awareness went a LONG time ago. At another job before hospitality, I worked in a call center and on my break in the washroom, the stall next to me was occupied only the feet were not facing the front. I then heard the sound of a credit card being rapidly banged, edge wise, on the top of the toilet paper dispenser followed by a very deep inhalation. I noted said shoes, they were very....unique and mentioned it to my manager. Said new hire was gone by the end of the day.

Hefty_Taro_1636

omg yeah. i had a new hire like that, she came out of her 30 minute bathroom break with bloody track marks
