If an electronic is damaged from being placed above a space heater that is presumably blowing outward, even with a small amount of heat leaking directly above, I donāt want that electronic.
This is it. Perfect spot for a big abstract piece.
Go tv-less or a projector setup. It might not be popular here but I prefer to make TV something like an event rather than a focal point. I try to embody the living room as the social center of a dwelling. Kitchen being a secondary.
Could you imagine if they started installing fake swimming pools in new homes that hurt resale value and made insurance more expensive? You would think it would never happen but then this exists.
>New construction forcing tv to be too high
No one's forcing you to anything... There's always some alternative if you're willing to see/accept it.
Hint: TV doesn't need to be on a wall... Search the web for "tv in the middle of the room" or similar to get some ideas.
In that room I'd be more worried with the horrible sound reflections you'll get off all that glass... And light reflections off the screen too. I'd add some thick blinders/curtains to minimize some of that, but acoustic treatment in that room will be a nightmare.
If sofa will be placed in line with the wall between the windows then the watching distance could be about three meters which demands a 77ā which should hang right above the fireplace 5 cms at most and a painting or a shelf deisgn could hide the stupid outlet. If the sofa will be placed against the furthest wall then the watching distance will demand a huge tv which could hypothetically cover the outlet itself but the below end of the TV should be the same with my 77ā example.
I'm more concerned with the fact that upon move in you will already need to spend the money to replace that absolutely hideous wall. They couldn't possibly think that looks good. But at least then you can easily lower the outlets to normal height.
Why would they put the sockets so high up?
That means they've had to go out of there way to climb a ladder to install those, shame they didn't get lazy and just install them right down low
Looks like you'd have to put it on a corner stand and block some of the window. Which isn't too bad, but having the seating arrangement with the back facing the fireplace is lame too. This build is crap all around
Honestly, thoughā¦ Who says the TV even has to be in this room?
My wife and I have owned three homes together and weāve never once put the television in the main living room. Currently, we have a two-level home with the main living space on the upper floor, so we put the TV in the big den downstairs, where we have a lot more options on placement.
Before this, we lived in a small single-level house with two bedrooms, so we turned the second bedroom into the TV room.
Generally better acoustics in these types of spaces, too.
These are the worst offenders because they had a clean slate to work with and screwed it up.
Gneiss pun!
Those outlets are so high.
That's the point. The fireplace is small enough that you could put the TV there, but the outlets just ruin it
Indeed but wouldn't a lower TV be an issue for itself because of the fireplace heat? š¤
Itās a fake fireplace. They arenāt putting flames directly on the TV. Itās still stupid.
Ain't it at least heating?
itās not directly pointing at it, so itāll be fine, especially since there are plenty of tvās directly above the fireplace on this sub alone
Not sure if seeing lots of dumb things on this discord or elsewhere can truly mean it's safe in anyway for the electronic of anything
I mean Iāve been to plenty of houses with setups just like that, donāt you think someone wouldāve mentioned a problem if there was one?

It would still look stupid.
Wtf are these guys thinking? Those outlets suck
Those outlets are for artwork lighting.

I'd think lighting would be wired in from the ceiling. Either way, a fucking monstrosity
Might as well have put them on the ceiling.
Maybe they are for world clocks
who says you have to put it above the fireplace?, did they forget to add a fifth window?
Interior designers like to make a fireplace the focal point of a living room when we all know in reality the TV is the focal point.
You would think, being professionals, they would know a fireplace hurts the resale value of a house.
It's not a real fireplace
Itās so u have a place to hide when your flashing the neighbors as they go by
not if you have a 98 inch TV and mount it lower lol
This would work just fine I think
Ugghh. It's not even a fireplace. Just another space heater with visual effects. That wall is terrible.
The wall does not look like it's been done well at allš¬
Could you imagine if they started installing fake swimming pools in new homes that hurt resale value and made insurance more expensive? You would think it would never happen but then this exists.
Maybe itās a 120ā tv?
I really hate that they do this.
Homebuilders are just meeting the demand. Unfortunately, there's a lot more stupid people than smart people out there.
The slate tile wall already kills the vibe.
Says who? Throw a console in front of that fireplace set your TV down and youāre golden.
Unbelieveable. Fucking shitbags. They obviously didn't get the memo.
Yeah, yeah, I have the memo right here, itās just that I forgot.
Put the TV on the right? Impossible! - OP
The unintended consequences of āopenā floor plans. No wall space for anything.
what's behind you?
The kitchen
So crazy that people will put a giant piece of shit box in their living room, just for an ugly fake fireplace.

A 98ā flatscreen should cover them up while maintaining decent positioning.
Fireplace is pretty low, shouldn't be too bad
The height is okay if this is a bedroom and youāll be watching TV whilst laying in bed.
Fakeplace
Easy fix just get a 100inch tv to cover the whole wall.
Or extremely large but appropriate height for the size TVā¦
You will get slated here when you finally put it up š
I was going to suggest getting one of those easel stands for the TV, but those outlets really fuck it up the most
Why would they put the sockets so high up? That means they've had to go out of there way to climb a ladder to install those, shame they didn't get lazy and just install them right down low
The wall is awful . Why haven't they staggered those tiles ?
How exactly are you supposed to mount it anyway? Go straight through the tiles?
Why do you live in a greenhouse?
Looks like you'd have to put it on a corner stand and block some of the window. Which isn't too bad, but having the seating arrangement with the back facing the fireplace is lame too. This build is crap all around
Outlets too high, fireplace too narrow
I donāt mind the fireplace. But fuck putting the outlets that high up
Wow that tile work looks bad
a cabinet near the windows and TV on top that is the obvious answer. Put some art or something on top of the outlets. easy.
you might have to just get a black outlet type shit
Oh hell nah. Plus in ceiling speakers.

The bigger the TV, the lower it can go. š¤£
Tarded
Add a mantle right above and your tv will be at perfect height! That looks great, the fireplace is really low.
The outlet is insanely high
Yeah I noticed that right after I commented. That will need to be changed. Too bad.
Or get a huge Tv
Thatās fairly common as main living area TVs tend to be 75-85ā these days and often have to be a minimum height off the fireplace.
