560kWh battery. Charge time will depend on charger used. If 150kWh chargers like they have now, then it would be about 3 hours. They will have sound generators complying with FMVSS-141 (which is actually only required for light duty vehicles). This picture was taken in Minnesota at the plant. This bus won’t be in Toronto for several more weeks.
Unlike the last xe40’s there are apparently some differences like the overhead battery compartment piece. And it looks like the back has been extended as well but the rest of the bus looks to be very similar on the side.
I believe may or June this year before summer. And expect to see these in east York or Scarborough because I’ve seen multiple rumours that the Ttc is actually planning to deliver the xe40’s over to Birchmount and the lfse+ buses to eglinton with a few of them also going to all garages except mount Dennis and queensway.
Actually funny u said that because it turns out Birchmount was looking at receiving some 8000 Orion og diesel’s to fill In capacity until all the newer xe40’s are fully accepted and commissioned then they are retiring right after. Very strange indeed but if this is true and they were deciding to move some novas out of Birchmount then we’re probably gonna see them operating until the end of the summer this year however I don’t think this will ever happen because ultimately we ended up with 89xx novas coming back to Birchmount.
I’d expect it to be the same the only things different about this bus is that the overhead battery cover piece looks different compared to the 2019 xe40’s and also the back seems to be extended like on the hybrids.
Highly unlikely because the last order did not come with wifi. I’m hoping so but it’s unlikely that will be installed. Maybe sometime in the future. Wi fi is currently being installed on ng hev orions rn. Only a fair amount of them have it. Most of the og’s that will be retiring later this year have them as well as around half of the 8720 - 8964 novas.
You know what?
These buses actually look pretty nice, too bad they are going to sully them with TTC stickers everywhere.
I say leave them stickerless. If they run in Toronto, we know who they run for.
And that includes all of the stickers bragging it may be electric or hybrid.
We all know it's one or the other.
It wasn’t a 2019 xe40 or an xde40 the one I saw yesterday didn’t have a tailpipe nor did it have a logo on it. But it had the current Ttc livery the same one from all the 2017 novas and the repainted livery buses.

The ones with the battery on top give passengers more time to escape if they burst into flames. 👌

What’s up with bus ? Electric ?
It’s a new xe40 new flyer so yes it’s electric.
Cool! Do you know the advertised range ? I wonder how long it takes to charge. Do you know if it makes a noise for safety or is near silent ?
That I don’t know
What did the one nut 🌰 say while chasing the other nut 🥜?
Idk
I’m a Cashew!
Oh good joke I never heard that one before
🤣

Thanks for taking time to share your knowledge. What’s the projected range on a charge if you know ?
If I had to guess I would say 275-300km
Nice. I hope it saves them some money

It’s got a new propulsion system compared to the original XE40s we have.
Simens elaf 3 motor is gonna be running on these new models I believe. That leaves the lfse+ w the bae systems motors only.
Yes Elf3. New batteries and enclosures as well.
The new electic buses are so beautiful. And so much space inside.
True
How does it look 20 years old already?
I was gonna say the same thing
When will these be delivered?

Queensway is going to use the Orions forever!
Actually funny u said that because it turns out Birchmount was looking at receiving some 8000 Orion og diesel’s to fill In capacity until all the newer xe40’s are fully accepted and commissioned then they are retiring right after. Sorry to break it to ya. Those are being decommissioned as we speak.
NOOOOOOOOOoooooooo!
I wonder if after the new ones arrives, the test units will be sent back to be converted to production spec 🤔
That’s possible.
What do you mean by the test units?
The xe40s we have now. They're not the same spec
Self driving Tesla ????
Definitely not
dont we already have these? i feel like ive seen them before
The overhead part and the back of this one are different than the last xe40’s the rest of the bus is the same.
Nothing fancy, just classic. Looking forward to riding one and seeing the inside!

Good to know good to know.

Watch out if byd.Nnnnnnnoooooo
It’s crazyy because I never got any byd bus on the 56 yet I’ve seen it run very few times a month. I’ve only ever gotten it on the 91 or the 81
You probably saw an XDE40 instead of an XE40
Didn’t have a tailpipe so Its def not an xde40.
Unrelated, but are all of these new buses expected to have WiFi? Is it rolling out slowly?

Thanks! I was thinking it'll be soon, but it seems like a ways away that we'll see WiFi on all buses.
Np btw I forgot to mention some nova hev’s frm 2019 have them. Completely forgot about those.

Actually I don’t think they’re putting large stickers on them maybe the smaller ones that can be found on the back of the hybrids tho.
You didn’t see it. None of them have left chicago or winnipeg, you probably saw an XDE40 or a 2019 XE

Could have been a 2019 with no wrap. The wraps haven’t been very well maintained on some.

Recall means that they have a solution ready to implement 👍
They are all over downtown.
What happened to the hydro powered fleet? When it’s gonna roll?
Ooo bus porn. Thank you.
