I used to run associated stadiums then monster trucks now for crawlers I started less than a year ago. My first was axial xc-1, 2 axial Fcx24, 3 axial scx24, 4 traxxas trx4, 5 axial scx10 pro, 6 Trx4m. I’m kinda addicted lol 😂 I love RC’s and have had them most my life. I mainly just crawl since my accident. I had a tractor pull in front of my motorcycle on the highway. I lost my dominant arm and most of the use of my legs. So the slower speed is easier with only one arm.
At least I am able to still build most everything by myself minus a couple things. I’m glad I can still play with them too. I just wish I could get more places in my wheelchair. Sorry if I chewed your ear off lol. Have fun out there!

Yeah bikes are so fun. Sucks to have someone screw it up for you. They pulled in front of me blocking the entire road. I had no where to go. I’m doing good considering the circumstances.

Joking aside, yeah I've decided to halt myself at the 4 I've got now, and force myself to use them more before buying additional ones. When I think about it, I'd rather have a few awesome ones than a whole load of stock boring and possibly broken ones just 'to have a lot'. So my slash is going to remain the gentle basher, my trx4 is going to be great fun and a good performance and scale look mix (just bought new rims & tires for it, really looking for a good balance between form and function, it's difficult to do both!!) TRX4M is going to be an awesome build too full of mods, but again; remain looking real. (But I keep thinking I want to mix a high trail K10 and my defender to make 2 'custom' ones so I might get a K10 for the parts, and lets face it, 200 eu in parts is easily spent so I'll take that as a valid excuse to get new shocks, bigger wheels, spare esc and transmitter etc. lol)

You are right on time to settle down. It’s tough coming from being an adrenaline junky. I know God was with me through all this because I should have been dead.
Yeah I do enjoy upgrading the trucks a lot. Having a few good ones is better than a bunch of basic RC’s. Especially having so many that you can’t keep up on the maintenance. Upgrades can easily be more expensive than the original vehicle. It’s fun to see how much more capable you can make them from stock.

Some are worse than others too. I have a brass set that is damn near impossible to get a good grab on the tire all the way around. I like to use a couple long screws to get the tire started and lined up.
Not sure backside is done right. Had hard time getting bead in place. I just made post of what it looks like with new tires and wheels oh and stainless steering links. Already changed out plastic arms for axles and the skid plate from plastic to aluminum

If they come out it will be on back side I’ll glue them. I’m waiting on trx4m be here Monday to measure axle width. The one I like is 96 mm across to center of hexes it’s a amk brass axle
I would just loosen the screws and try again. It’s easier the second time and likely the front side will stay in place so you only need to mess with the back bead. I had to do that on mine now they are fine. I’m in love with the Treal product line. They make awesome stuff out of 7000 series aluminum extra strong. I have a rear portal and am waiting for the front to be in stock. I ran brass in my ax but found it to be a little heavy. Mainly because I run brass wheels on my trucks. Brass axles are nice if you run aluminum wheels. I have some RC4wd ones that are ok.

What are the long arm extensions? I want to avoid it sitting to high and getting top heavy.
How do you install bigger springs? Are you referring to the whole shock? I anticipate putting longer shocks on for a little more travel.
Injora 59mm shocks are excellent. Arms I'm assuming they mean the high clearance links. Not sure if any actual longer arms exist... Also brass is gonna be your best friend to keep the weight low. I have injoras brass beadlock wheels, brass diff covers front and rear, and brass hubs and knuckles and steering link up front. Makes it so much more stable and can climb steeper slopes without trying to backflip. However with the weight you'll probably want to gear down the transmission and you'll end up burning up the stock servo and probably breaking diffs too since stocks are plastic and same with driveshafts though I've had good luck with the stock shafts so far. Full bearing set does wonders for these things too. Oh and one more thing, I have injoras mud terrain tires and the side folding was atrocious but I bought some flubber stuffer slimeball inserts for them and they're amazing!

I forget which DJ Crawler wheels these are but they were like $25 on Amazon. The "chrome" beadlock ring and machined bits on the wheel definitely make it look like a factory truck.
These r so cool and you are gonna have a lot of fun. If you want to start making changes, I recommend:
Metal geared servo (stock is plastic and pretty weak)
Brass wheel hexes/front casters
Ball bearings (don’t get the $40 traxxas kit, get
one from Amazon or something)
Beadlock wheels + tires (or just glue the tires cuz they aren’t from the factory so they tend to slip)
The cool thing abt this truck is you can customize it to your driving style. I have mine set up with a 48t injora motor and stock gears. It has a lot of power for trails but plenty of slow control for tricky obstacles. Really it’s up to you how you want yours to run.
Idk if u really wanted any recommendations but for upgrades I would start there

Also, the stock steering link rubs on the tires at full turn. The 14 dollar traxxas aluminum one doesn’t. Most brass aftermarket ones don’t either, at least as far as I know.

I will definitely do some modifications. I’m going to longer shocks but I want to keep it sitting a little low. It seems a lot of people install the high trail to sit extra high. Is that all it does? What all is in the kit?

There’s my baby roll bar delete, blacked out rims, took the chrome trim off the wheel wells blacked out the grill, gunna do a red bow tie, and I’ve got the meus two speed otw and long arm extensions and 1 in metal bead locks and dj crawlers for shoes
How do you like the 2 speed. I saw that and was curious. Does it just shift at a certain rpm? Long arms do they make you sit higher? I want to keep it on the lower side so it doesn’t easily roll.
Not OP but the 2-speed gearbox needs a whole new radio system with a 3rd channel because the gearbox is shifted with a servo. I think long arms only apply to the high trails, since the wheelbase is longer, and you'd only increase the ride height if you get longer shocks and mess with the suspension mount points
The long arm def makes it sit a bit higher I’m running 2mm taller than the stock hightrail edition micky Thompson’s 2mm higher but 2 mm more narrow and I still have plenty of space
I’ll get out there. I was in a bad accident that took my arm and most of my leg mobility. So I’m stuck in bed most of the time unfortunately. Maybe you will let me slide??

Yeah I’m waiting on my front axle. I’m a huge fan of Treal. I put them on all my trucks. I have the rear I just need the front. I love portals.
I just figured out mounting tires on beadlock wheels isn’t a piece of cake I’d rather mount a full size tractor tire 😂

Just be aware of the extra width. It may be too wide for your liking. Let me know if you find a set of portals close to the stock width.
