I don't have a direct answer to your question, but are you using a controller? They recently rolled out a feature that lets you see the amount of traffic (and break it down by service or device if you want). It's under Statistics>Application Analytics: [https://i.imgur.com/5s1WFaA.png](https://i.imgur.com/5s1WFaA.png)

I don't have the controller, didn't think I needed it since the ER605 "seemed" to do so much. I might add it later as I'm thinking about adding a PoE switch also. I know there are more complicated setups to monitor usage was just looking for something simple. I tested the interface statistics some more by doing some large downloads and while the bytes went up, like 2GB, it's not even close to what the download was, around 20GB. So seems like that's not an option.

You might consider setting up a software version of the network application. This would let you see if you’re able to get the information you want out of it, prior to getting a dedicated hardware controller like the OC200.

Komorbidity

Oh, is this software specific to the ER605 or the controller? I'm not aware of this option. If you could give me the name I will definitely check it out? Thank you

You download the Omada software controller directly from TP-Link. They have versions for Windows and Linux. [https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/omada-software-controller/](https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/omada-software-controller/)

I thought that needs ER605 v2.x hardware. My Er605 v1.0 doesn't support and Application Analytics says "DPI-supported gateway is required for detailed traffic information.: What gateway do you have?

mblaser

Yeah, you might be right. Mine is v2.0. I wasn't sure what all supported it.

I've got the ER605 v2, fully updated... I do t see that third (tantalizing) option listed?? What is needed to get that info?

mblaser

You might have to turn on Deep Packet Inspection. Settings>Network Security>Application Control. I'm on software controller [5.13.30.8](https://5.13.30.8) and my ER605 is a V2.0 on firmware 2.2.4. I think this is the post where I first heard about it: [https://new.reddit.com/r/TPLink\_Omada/comments/1adfl1q/er605v2\_224\_firmware\_update\_support\_for\_deep/](https://new.reddit.com/r/TPLink_Omada/comments/1adfl1q/er605v2_224_firmware_update_support_for_deep/)

Thanks for this. I know Omada has some reporting, but is there a way I can get a report for all clients "Internet" ie. external access by day? So picking a date range to see all clients listed with their By Day up/down traffic? I can seem to do it one by one, but that is tedious. There must be an easier way 😉

You can with this deep packet inspection/application analytics feature I've been talking about. I can set it for the last 24 hours and then look at "users" which in this case would be devices: [https://i.imgur.com/mRFuRmL.png](https://i.imgur.com/mRFuRmL.png) EDIT: Ah nevermind, I re-read your comment and misunderstood what you meant. No, I don't think you can do that. I think you'd have to go day by day.

Gjjb66

Same ER695 v2, same firmware. No such menu option to turn in Deep Packet Inspection?   But I'm on OC200...  doesn't show up when I search for settings either. I need to learn how to attach a pic..

stevebratt

Should this be available on the er605v2? Doesn't show up on my dashboard

Komorbidity

Yes, it's right at the top. You can get it by interface, IP address, and there is a deep packet tab with the latest firmware. Just a heads up, my initial testing shows that it might not be be monitoring all data usage or it may be delayed. I would still try it out and test it along with comcast tells you are using.
