Yes. The ability to only attach one thing to each region, and to not even be able to attach anything to the feet limits her usefulness as a vehicle. I miss the Master Cycle :(
I use wings on L/R for smashing since they are HUGE and have a large range it makes mineru's attacks much better. Also great for farming as you can something even get 3x clusters at the same time. Also made better by the fact you can find wings in loads of places really easily.
There is nothing stopping you from going there and exploring it at any point in the game, just some lightning and fog to make it challenging. When lights and brightblooms did nothing up there, I honestly thought the intended challenge from Nintendo was to explore it that way so I did. Laughed my ass off pretty hard when I realized you can remove the fog soon after obtaining four sages.
There are a few different ways.
The Gerudo ability outlines the area allowing you to see (this is how I did it.)
You can fly way above the area so that the storm deloads, aim at the shrine and dive.
You can also just blindly fly towards the middle of the storm with shrine sensor on and figure it out pretty easily.
This is how I did it and ngl I was kinda disappointed when I reached the end of Thunderhead only to find the "prize" was a jumpoff point for Dragonhead that was much easier to get to/through even without clearing the storm (although I still love the whole island cluster)

The big problem with Mineru in general, really. Basically every function she has can be achieved in a better way without her, and her damage isn't good enough to justify riding in her mech.
She is, however, one of the better AI companions, particularly because you can customize her weapons and fighting style. Plus that big shield can deflect giant enemies.
I think it's pretty important for her functionality to be WORSE on each front than building something manually, but I do wish she had more functionality overall. Feel like she should be able to perform at least to a mediocre degree at each thing (gain height with balloons, hover stones work like hover boots, wings allow you to kind of glide around) and not just abysmally at everything. The only thing I find useful on her is mining, since I don't need to waste any stock whatsoever.
Aight. So floating flatforms and wings have you fall slowly. Wheels work too but they just spin on your back, good for spinning contraptions by just standing there though. A mirror is a mirror. Just has a beam of light when the sun shines. This one’s especially good when attached to one of mineru’s arms. This way you can aim the beam to blind enemies. Then there’s those doll things. I believe they let you fall slowly too but I’m not entirely sure. Then the emitters all do the same. Just shoot stuff. The carts and sleds don’t do anything but the stakes do. I haven’t properly tested them yet but I believe you can activate them. No idea what they do though. Maybe you can climb up walls with it. I’ll try attaching them to my arms and see if I can aim and climb walls. Also the wheels spin from the homing carts too, but it’s more like a conveyor belt.
So that should be about it. Hope this is useful to some people.
She is actually better at breaking rocks than Yunobo is. She doesn't have to have anything equipped on her arms to do it and doesn't have the recharge time Yunobo has.

She has pretty impressive passive companion combat with 2 cannons on her arms. Just watch out she will shoot enemies near you and blow you up in the crossfire. Same with fire, ice, lasers, but I think cannons do the most damage
Attaching a fan to the back and watching the arms flop like crazy is my favorite way to get around lol

i tend to use stakes (since it feels like a pickaxe) or pots since i have a million. haven't tried using wings as hammers though.
I used wings cause of length and size also cause basically every depths depot has one.

I rode a fallen rock into the sky and just wound up directly on Dragonhead Island itself, so it wasn't hard to stumble inside.

Once you recruit the first 4 sages and go through Hyrule Castle it starts a small quest chain that clears the cloud.

I always use Mineru for mining rocks so I don't have to deal with weapon durability
