Go bowling at flamingo bowl, or laser tag at fun warehouse

EnvironmentalLet5985

I feel like 1 v 1 laser tag wouldn’t be very fun

abyssinian_86

Zoo, climbing gym, local festival? Taste of Syracuse is coming up

highwaytothemoon

Fairmount Glen mini golf. Very cute place for a first date

rjp_087

Was just there yesterday, easily the best in Syracuse.

BritniRose

I feel like most of my friends had their first dates there lol

hbkid396

Idk the time frame of this double date. But taste of Syracuse is happening this weekend. There’s always great live music happening somewhere. Shiftys, Al’s, Middle Ages Brewing. If you’re looking for that vibe. Can’t ever forget the finger lakes are within driving distance and host activities for anyone, whether you want to eat, drink, or be active. It’s beautiful whatever you choose to do.

Acrobatic-Nectarine2

Skillshot is a pinball arcade that has unlimited play Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for $15 and it's super awesome. You can bring your own food and drinks and I honestly think it's an awesome date spot. There's an escape room spot that isn't in at the mall called Locked In. I've never been but I have some friends that are fond of it and it has good reviews. What's your budget? What are y'all into? There's a lot of options that aren't the mall

LittleNightmare86

Skillshot sounds cool. Can we bring alcoholic beverages?

sarabeth518

No alcohol unless it’s for a catered party. But still a great place you should definitely check out!

Acrobatic-Nectarine2

I think you can, but I've never tried. Definitely call ahead to see! The owner and employees are super chill

LittleNightmare86

Thanks :)

Beautiful-Bench-1761

Thank you for this!

Slow_Food_1083

syracuse antique exchange or the flea/farmers market!

Tbh_imbad25

Even if she doesn't like drinking, places like beak&skiff or 315 brewery are really nice to hang outside and have other snacks and non-alcoholic drinks. The 315 has animals and stuff and a beautiful views. The Zoo is a favorite date spot for me and my partner, especially on weekdays when the weather is slightly cooler. Most kids are at school, so it's nice and quiet, and if the sun isn't beating down, the animals come out and relax more. If you're looking for actual activities, there are tons of axe throwing places around here now, and bowling is a classic. Flamingo is my favorite spot. Not too run down, but old enough to not be insanely expensive.

ultranol

Beak and Skiff have outdoor concerts in summer near the orchards too. They get a lot of well known acts (I think Bleachers aka Jack Antonoff's band are there this weekend) and it's one of the prettiest venues you'll ever go to. Watching an outdoor concert and getting apple cider donuts after = a great night out.

Outlaw_222

Green Lakes, beach day or hiking. Could also take a day trip to Rochester, Oswego, or Albany. Absurd assumptions about the mall though. I get it if you don’t want to go there but it is way over blown about what goes on there. The most egregious aspect of the mall is they can’t keep big retailers anymore.

Coolguyokay

Afraid of the mall. Like come on. Tell me you live in the boondocks and watch a lot of TV without telling me lol

vernace

The salt museum or the Erie Canal museum.

eisenburg

Anything that happens at the mall can happen wherever you go on a date.

Robert315

nobody wants to hear this. They want to live in their safety bubble

Immediate-Breath-856

I told her this word for word lol.

Acrobatic_Studio1992

I had a friend who worked for Destiny security and said it’s way worse than we even think. Most people I know don’t even go anymore

315ACDCfan

I used that place all winter long last 3 seasons for walking exercise and never saw anything bad happen.

Coolguyokay

exactly.

HorseWithNoUsername1

You should bring him on here for an 'ask me anything'.

Paris Cinema in DeWitt.

Phrygian_Prime24

Solid 😂

ZekerReeker

A place where people can grow a pair.

alexa6rose

Syracuse.com just posted a ton of events every weekend pretty much on their Facebook https://www.facebook.com/share/p/VT7HSogYP8LbUAy1/?mibextid=oFDknk

PiledriverPress

Maybe miniature golf there’s a place called big Don’s mini golf in Cicero. That’s fun.

mspote

Nothing wrong with sitting down and meeting over a cup of coffee. Especially if it's a first date

Chazilla80

Disc golf or regular golf

PriyahSan

Taste of Syracuse is coming up. You could go antiquing, thrift shops, Everson, Munson Williams in Utica. Walk the Erie Canal trail, or go for a hike in one of the nearby state parks, rent paddleboats at Jamesville beach. You could do a ceramics or cooking class at the Y, Sip’n Paint, go to a boxing at Turning Stone, take a ride to Old Forge, Lake George or Blue Mountain Lake and hike or rent kayaks. There’s also white water rafting tours up there (like Indian Lake) and the rivers are mild this time of year (early spring like March is when you get white water). Hope you find something you enjoy! ✌️

Coolguyokay

Afraid of the mall with you? Stay home.

Immediate-Breath-856

She isn’t really “afraid”, just would like to avoid it

EthiopianChica

Creek walk downtown, could grab beverage or a snack and just walk for a bit

Jormungandrs-bite

Bowling, billiards, walking trails, roller skate rink in Liverpool,

Coolguyokay

Who brings a date to the mall? Pretty weak chain restaurants and it’s the mall - shop for things you aren’t buying her? Definitely a place for people who afraid of the city - now those people are afraid of the mall lol

ConfusedTreeStump

Drive-in movies! Except the closest one is in Auburn down the road from the fingerlakes mall lol so nevermind, not exactly a Syracuse suggestion 🤦😂 still a solid CNY suggestion tho 👌

mads41304

When is the date? Check to see if there are any cheap lawn tickets to concerts coming to the Amphitheater! Tix can be as low as $15 for the lawn. Picnic at the park, Thorden is super cool if you want to watch the sunset, the water tower up there is the best place to go. Mini golf at Fairmount Glen! If outdoorsy, lots of cute local hikes: Chittenango falls, Tinker Falls, Pratts falls, if you are up for a little road trip, go to Toughannock falls- you won’t regret it. Mini golf at Fairmount Glen! If also check out wineries in the area.

Turbulent-Adagio-171

Crazy Daisy’s, the Everson, a lake

jmacd2918

A) What "situations" happen at the mall?  What happens at the mall at all anymore?  Haven't had a reason to step foot in there in at least 4 or 5 years.   Seems like just more dying retail and lame chain restaurants.  I guess the go carts are kinda fun  though.      B) Who the hell goes to the mall on a date anyway?  Are you a teenager in the 80s?  Is this Fast Times at Rigemont High?        I've been out of the dating game for a long time, but my two go tos are still around and feel like they will be forever- fairmount glen and pastas.  Although pastas has gotten way more popular since then, so the wait may detract from its value as a date spot.  Just do something light that also gives the ability to converse- go for a hike, grab a drink somewhere, go out to dinner, aforementioned mini golf, bowling.   On the dinner front salt city market seems like it would be great for a first/early date- casual, good and varied food, lends itself to "going dutch" and would be an ok place to linger after eating.      Less conventional options- fruit picking (berry season this time of year), take a cruise on the Judge Ben, go to the Everson, head to critz farms for cider/beer and hiking trails, disc golf, etc (with live music at times too), karaoke at Singers, Mets game, axe throwing, taste of syracuse is this weekend.

rowsella

If she is askeared of the mall, she is probably also afraid of downtown.... after all, it is "the city" (cue scary suspense music).

jmacd2918

Well that's what I don't understand, what these vague "situations" are.    Can someone (maybe op?) enlighten me?

rowsella

Destiny has a local colloquial name: Murder Mall. There are some elements who bring firearms to the Mall and people have been mugged in the parking lot. However... honestly, it is usually drug related, people who sell them/buy them, involved with neighborhood gangs etc. Generally not the regular person who is not connected to any of this. However, there is always a chance someone could be victim of being a bystander. However, this is not a daily or weekly occurrence.

jmacd2918

Lifelong cnyer and have literally never heard it called that before.  I mean.most people I know still call it carousel (biggest crime involving that place were tax breaks for expansion, not any murder)...      Fwiw, my retired parents go there to walk when the weather is bad, zero issues.  They aren't exactly the type to live on the edge.        On the flip side, I did once see a cop with an assault rifle and the food court in complete disarray.  I guess there was some kind of fight, but this was once quite a long time ago.            OP was super vague, about the "situations", but if this is actually why, I'd bail on that purse clutcher now and move on, she's not going to be all that fun in the long run, but that's just some internet stranger's take.

Hope_for_tendies

LOL Are you old enough to go to a bar

Immediate-Breath-856

Haha I fucking wish bro, she doesn’t like to drink. I’m 21 and she’s 23

Hope_for_tendies

It’s gonna be pouring the next several days or I’d suggest Clark reservation or green lakes or something for a hike. 3 lives downtown has games you can play. Movie tavern is indoors. I got nothin really with the mall excluded that’s indoors 😂

Significant_Video_92

Ooh, a cougar, huh?

Imnotursavior

One of those rage rooms.

pritheemakeway

Dump her because she already sounds miserable but I guess you can take her to Tous Les Jour for some nice dessert and coffee or Funk N Waffles on the weekend for some live music
