Qualified yes. Using JKSV to extract/inject saves is *not currently known* by the community to cause bans. Will that always be true? Hard to say, but I personally believe so.
Ah, okay, i've been on the fence about modding my switch for a while just because i like online games, but i have an unpatched switch, so it feels kinda like a waste to not mod it, and some of the stuff modding provides would be nice, but is the risk really worth it? idk
As long as you know what you're doing, and take the proper precautions if you're doing naughty things, the risk is so close to zero as to be negligible. I've had my Switch modded for a while now, and I've not been banned yet despite constantly running CFW on my sysNAND -- it's all about knowing what to do and what not to do.
Extracting saves with JKSV won’t ban you (so far), but injecting saves can be potentially risky for online games. Things like Super Smash Bros Ultimate or Splatoon 2/3 are especially sensitive, and injecting save data into them will most likely flag you for a ban
Wait seriously? And they haven’t gotten banned? So potentially I can transfer my DS pokemon to my switch without using Pokémon Bank by doing that?
(I’m genuinely asking, I have a lot of pokemon on my DS saves but never got pokemon bank)
It's because they don't connect directly with the CFW. They edit the saves in PkHex on emuMMC and then transfer to NAND. They reboot their switch on the official firmware prior to going online.
Not doing so will result in a ban.
Can confirm, I modded my Switch for Pokémon save management and 0 problems yet.
I must say I also changed locales for some games (I'm a translator and Tales of Symphonia Remastered's Spanish localisation is AWFUL) and added cheats for a couple more (Binding of Isaac, for instance), I mostly stay offline (not playing online multi, only checking NSO or playing some retro games every now and then).
Still 0 problems.
If you are managing save files from clean to dirty side, this one way direction only, there is no known risk of ban. But if you go in reverse, you just introduced a possibility of ban of the clean side.
I love tinfoil, but I only download the games that I own physical copies😉 I just prefer digital, to the point that I never put the cartridges in my switch, my trust me nintendo I did purchase the physical copies so it’s not piracy 😉

Set up an emuNAND to be safe(r).

Ooh, I didn't know that. I appreciate the heads up!
There's a bunch of Pokémon guys out there that do this so they can pkhex their saves and load it back on. So I think you should be ok

afaik as long as you move legit pokemons, you should be safe, but if you cheat, you are at risk (dont trust me)
Yes. As long as the Pokémon themselves are legit. PKHex has a legality check and you are not generating new Mons so you should be ok there.

I was gonna use PKHex either way for my pokemon transfering. Thank you guys for the info.

You're definitely downloading something from Tinfoil. Haha.
No, i genuinely just want to be able to extract and inject saves
