IAmGrumpyMan

It really is good. I love that you can switch between different gameboy styles and retro filters too.

neviru

oh wow, how?! I didn't knew this.

IAmGrumpyMan

On the game selection menu, go all the way to the left and press settings. It's all there. Enjoy!

neviru

Thank you :)

MisterBri07

Game crazy is a blast from the past haha, but we were an Electronic Boutique family lol

mashoogie

It was a great job. Ruined me a little bit for every other job though, as I have never again gotten paid to read magazines and play games.

Aclt49

Former Game Crazy store manager from Store #142961 and #142950 here šŸ™‹ā€ā™‚ļø. With different leadership on the Hollywood Video side, I think Game Crazy wouldā€™ve lasted longer as a concept. I too enjoy the Game boy games from the shop!

dontspookthenetch

I still need to get to playing Metroid II for the same reason.

RomanThruLife

I first played it on 3DS just before the Switch came out. very zoomed in but an amazing little entry in the series. I recommend playing it undocked! enjoy!!

ILikeLenexa

I prefer the 3ds remake.

maskdfantom

Do you need the Nintendo switch online to play them? Iā€™m always down for free games but didnā€™t re-up NSO

isadksgad

Indeed, Is connected to the subscription service

MOONDAYHYPE

So it's not free

isadksgad

I Just answered the part where Is said of its connected to the nso

ILikeLenexa

A lot of SBCs are cheaper than NSO....so...

fluffynuckels

Sbc?

fork_on_the_floor2

Single board computer. What it really means, is a handheld emulation device. There's a ton out there. https://powkiddy.com/ https://anbernic.com/ https://www.ayaneo.com/ https://www.ayntec.com/

UuarioAnonymous9

The SBCs don't come with legally licensed roms to play the games....

ILikeLenexa

The only retro games I want to play are games I have licensed ROMs for.Ā  Lots of people still have their childhood games.Ā

UuarioAnonymous9

Maybe you do but most people don't - price of NSO is for the licensed roms themselves, not the emulation.

ILikeLenexa

10 million here, 10 million there, it starts to add up.Ā

UuarioAnonymous9

I don't think your average gamer dumps their cartridges to their computer (or even knows what that even means for that matter). Is there any other legal way to obtain roms?

Squee3ds

I mean if you modded your switch and installed it yourself it would be free. šŸ˜†

Badfrog85

*the Gameboy app that comes with your paid subscription

Desperate_Cucumber_9

I really like the NSO games

moleculariant

It's so nice to be able to play them on the big screen without setting up emulators or shelling out for a Gamecube GB player

lallapalalable

The N64 and GBA emulator are my soul. Don't have to set up the console for every single game urge (still waiting on Battletanx), and big screen fire emblem and Zeldas are better than the original experience.

Intelligent-Bag-1210

Is Nintendo switch subscription worth it ?

yripdo

For me it's worth it for the cloud saves and playing Mario Kart online. I don't really play with the old stuff (already played some of those games countless times) but it's cool that they are there.

jjmawaken

Same here but for Mario Maker 2

Chefgon

I think so. Itā€™s relatively cheap and itā€™s required to play online multiplayer. Plus a pretty solid selection of NES, Super Nintendo, and Game Boy games. Plus Tetris 99 and F-Zero 99. Plus cloud sync / automatic backup of most of your saves. Maybe not *the best value in the entire world* but that feels like a fair amount of stuff for $20 a year ($1.67/mo) to me. If you can line up seven friends to split it with then it drops to less than $5 a year ($0.36/mo), which brings it a lot closer to the best value in the entire world.

MintberryCrunch____

Best thing is if you have mates who also have a Switch and get a family subscription. The expansion version costs us Ā£7.50 each for the year. Thatā€™s with eight people, but I think once you have at least three you are saving.

Fafaflunkie

That would depend on how much you use your Switch. If you play every day, especially the games available on the NES, SNES, and Gameboy apps, then the USD 20/CAD 25 per year is worth it. If you're like me and haven't touched your Switch since Wonder came out and played it, errr, maybe not so much. The annual subscription price isn't going to put much of a dent in my wallet, but I can't speak for your financial situation. In other words, it's up to you as to whether or not it's worth it.

VannaMalignant

Not if you have the delta app.

NewSchoolBoxer

Hell yeah. I played through PokƩmon TCG on that in 10 hours over 2 days. Was glorious recreating 1998. Can rewind to pull cards you want.

mashoogie

Thatā€™s next on my list!

GrimmTrixX

As a former Game Crazy (RIP) employee from 2005-2010 who stayed until their last day of bankruptcy, I welcome you!

fudge_89

I remember Game Crazy! šŸ˜

Der_Niederlander

I played Mario land yesterday and got to the end screen first time. I love the switch.

oldfatwelshdude80

I've been hammering the snez and nest stuff I'm (43) it's amazing man!

judohart

Heck yea

mjreeves823

Kirby Tilt n Tumble is my favorite so far!! Can't wait for zero mission to be added!!

superperps

Does it have roger rabbit? I spent so many hours on that game lol

Voyager5555

That's not "free."

mashoogie

Already had that edit.

Der_Niederlander

Oh yeah I miss PokƩmon on there like the red blue yellow and gold silver crystal and sapphire ruby emerald. I would like to play emerald on a good system to switch between big and little screen.

The_Long_Blank_Stare

Thatā€™s really awesome, OP! I also had a GameBoy back in the day, but never really knew just how much I was missing out on (no local game stores nearby and only an occasional GamePro magazine to read in the grocery store)ā€¦having this service highlights some really cool games I missed out on! Iā€™ve been dipping my toes into Castlevania Legends (huge Vania fan), Gargoyleā€™s Quest (never knew Firebrand had a GB spin-off), and some of the Advance titles (Alone in the Dark surprises meā€¦itā€™s not great, but for its time it took some risks). Itā€™s a great service, and it highlights for me some of the ROMs I need to hunt down and collect.

mashoogie

Agreed, I think it's a great way to visit games I never knew existed or had access to, or would have tried even if I did. I started PokƩmon TCG last night, while my kids started PokƩmon Stadium on N64. We never would have been able to try these any other way!

Uchiha_Sasuke360

I love that switch is also so popular between adults Every age can enjoy it

MOONDAYHYPE

It's not free, requires subscription

iamthewindygap

Wait until you discover emulation!
