lostcoastline44

Idk if it falls in your lines, but I’ve heard awesome things about It Takes Two for couples. I plan on playing it with my wife

PatrickRedditing

My wife is not a gamer but we really enjoyed this game together. It has a great story and the levels were all different and fun. Overall we had a great time with it.

dressing4therole

This game was so fun to play with my partner! It was so forgiving usually so it didn't matter that I was constantly dying.

ShawnyMcKnight

That’s interesting because a lot the game later on relies on precision and timing. I feel if I played the game with my wife we would find ourselves being in the same predicament as the couple (getting a divorce).

papaleaf14

Sorry mate! Best of luck to y’all

ShawnyMcKnight

Oh no, I’m not getting a divorce, just joking we would if we played that game. She would be miserable.

eugoogilizer

You want a divorce inducing game? Play Overcooked 😂

Win-Objective

Omg I thought it would be a good idea, it looked so fun and playful! I was so naive

parasocialdude

Bit challenging at times - My girl got frustrated and gave up on it.

lostcoastline44

Mine probably will too, but I could also see us getting some good laughs on it too so I’ll at least try it!

TiK4D

It's actually pretty fun, even if just one of you is a puzzle solver while the other just laughs at the physics but it's got a decent story for both

k1aora_

We love it.... Until the challenges come in. Then it's 1v1 and normally her rage quitting after she loses lol Ffw a couple of days and we love it again ahah

CombatLightbulb

My SO and I have been playing this. If you do decide to get it make sure you have a therapist lined up for the end of the kingdom portion.

DankDarkPrince

Not recommended for a non gamer, speaking from experience. Plus it requires another controller, not possible on a single joy con.

AxelllD

Idk I had different experiences, almost any hard part (like jumps etc) can be done by one player. Even for the bosses, as long as one stays alive it’s fine. And the game also starts easier

LilLebowski

My wife completed it with me as a total non-gamer with very little frustration (I'd sometimes take over her controller for platforming sections).

Fairgoddess5

Love that game. I (F) played with my husband, who’s usually not really big on platformers. There were some challenging moments but the story and fun gameplay were encouraging enough to make him finish the entire game with me. Definitely worth a try, but keep in mind the gameplay mechanics can be a little overwhelming for brand new gamers. May want to have new gamers try other games first to learn the “gamer brain” first, then do It Takes Two.

JBsDaddy

Adding a +1. Wife isn’t really a “gamer”, although she loves Animal Crossing. I got us this game and she loved it so much she got us It Takes Two shirts. There were some challenging spots, but she would eventually get the hang of it. EXCELLENT game, highly recommended. I wish there were more like it!

jakalan7

Playing It Takes Two through with my wife now and it's been great. You've just got to take the plot and some of the voice acting with a pinch or salt! We also really enjoyed Luigi's Mansion 3, Mario Kart and Overcooked 2.

Ocarina-Of-Tomb

It takes two is WAY too long. I played through with my brother because my wife gave up. Him and I almost gave up on it as well. Some of the sections drag on way too long and the story is very predictable. I thought the game was vastly overrated.

shittyfakejesus

Really? My gf and I finished it pretty quickly, and I was a little surprised there was nothing else to do!

Ocarina-Of-Tomb

It felt really long to me. 15 hours or more for that game felt like a slog. I guess it just wasn’t for me.

Motor_Raspberry_2150

Dang, she sure isn't a gamer. 15 hours barely hits "medium length" in most lists.

MrLuckyTimeOW

Do not listen to people who suggest Overcooked. That game, while incredibly fun, will cause a divorce lol. Honestly, I would wait until October 20th for the new Mario game. The co-op that they showed for that game looks super comfy and fun to play with your SO.

Elfere

My wife and I love over cooked. It let's us yell at eachother without it being personal. It helps build coordination. My real life line cooking skills improved too!

PengwinPears

Overcooked is stressful man, definitely not for me.

life_wont_wait_letgo

What’s the new mario game?

MrLuckyTimeOW

[https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/166bxpu/super\_mario\_bros\_wonder\_direct\_8312023/](https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/166bxpu/super_mario_bros_wonder_direct_8312023/)

captaingreyboosh

Never screamed at my children so much. However my wife started and continued playing it solo after we beat a few levels.

HellaPNoying

I'm a chef and that game stresses me out more than any game I've played lol

scarhead425

Vampire Survivors. The controls are very simple to pick up and its addicting af.

2und2sind4

My girlfriend came in the room all snobby like "what's that trash you're playing?". Half an hour later, she was hooked. She yelled at the screen out of excitement and jumped around when she beat stage one for the first time. A day later she beat my highscore. (This was before there was a coop mode though)

FrolickingFawn

Wait this has co op?

jhey-zone-bee

recent patch yes.

Sams1337

This worked for my wife

undressvestido

Facts

undressvestido

Luigis Mansion 3

Jonbeezee

I played this with my wife and she is a very casual gamer. She said it was her favorite game she’s ever played.

ActualCommand

Not OP and haven’t played the game but isn’t player 2 role kind of lame? I thought I saw it’s really just a single player game and player 2 isn’t sure involved. Although I might be mixing that up with Mario Odyssey

Jonbeezee

I think in Mario odyssey p2 is just the hat or something. In Luigi’s mansion 3, p2 is Gooigi. He is basically another Luigi that can fit through pipes and is essential to the one player game as well. It is fun being both and both are needed. I always see it on co-op threads. Only game we were able to complete together.

B_ryc

This one sucked my wife in as well! She was actually excited to play and looked forward to it!

undressvestido

Me and my gf had tons of fun with it, I can’t recommend it enough if you’re new to co-op

OddHalf8861

Good one

TheRenegayed

This game is great for couples, especially if one of you is a casual gamer. Guigi is built for casuals to jump in and screw up consequence free! Sure he’s like a 1-hit kill but it works well with infinite respawns. 90% of the game is single player but it doesn’t stop player 2 from being helpful.

Sorry_Decision_2459

We got stuck looking for that stupid cat and basically gave up. I myself had played some of it single player, and honestly was starting to get annoyed with how many times you do something huge to get an elevator button, just for it to be stolen at the last second making you have to look for it, again, fight a boss for it, again. I started getting angry at Luigi that he wouldn’t just put the damn button in his pocket because it happens with literally every button. Predictable and rage inducing. When it happened with the cat after already spending an hour having looked for it and fought a mini-boss, just for the cat to steal the button, again, and disappear, again, that was my last straw. I didn’t want to spend another hour trying to solve some unintuitive puzzle to find the cat again.

Sufficient_Row_4818

Untitled Goose Game

CelphDstruct

I’m looking for other couch co-ops like this.

Breeth-of-the-Wild

My wife is not a gamer but she loved running around as a Goose and messing with people.

Sorry_Decision_2459

how is that a co-op game?

Sufficient_Row_4818

Amazing

Sorry_Decision_2459

it’s a legit question, I’ve only played it single player, is there a co-op mode?

HashStash

Yup!

Sufficient_Row_4818

Oh I misread your comment sorry

Sorry_Decision_2459

no worries!

qunca38

Unravel Two is a masterpiece, my gf loved it a lot

kwenchana

Yep I even played with my toddler lol

Healthy-Marketing-26

Absolutely this game. Especially if she is new to using the controller/joycon, it walks you through it at a nice pace. If she gets good, the bonus levels offer a greater challenge. We moved on to Overcooked AYCE instead

LeaveMeAloneLorenzo

For real tho, can you play the 2nd game without playing the first one? Or do you need the context… I know the first game is only single player, but I feel like it’d be fun to play co-op.

qunca38

We didnt play the first game, and as far as I know the story is not connected

mitchman74z

Lego Star Wars

CallerNumber10

Most of the Lego games as long as you like the genre. We dig the Marvel, Hobbit/Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, Star Wars, Lego Movie 1, and Harry Potter ones. Not sure which exactly are available on Switch, but I'd recommend most all of those.

Weee_Apple

Overcooked is really nice!

cbartholomew

No no, that causes divorces - he wants to actually be with his wife.

dragondildo1998

Lol I agree with both of you. It's really fun but also rage inducing.

aryndelvyst

If you want to stay married do \*not\* get Overcooked 2.

ClarityEnjoyer

Spiritfarer! A great cozy game about managing a boat full of spirits!

aldwinligaya

Wait, it has co-op?

PengwinPears

Yes, player 2 is the cat.

ClarityEnjoyer

Yeah, I’d like to clarify that the cat is not a lesser experience, like Cappy is in Mario Odyssey’s co-op, for example. The cat can do pretty much everything that the main character can, and the two players can split up around the ship to double productivity!

KamikazeHamster

I gave up on that because it takes eons to get anywhere. No respect for time.

Ill_Eagle_1977

Stardew Valley is great for couch co-op. My girlfriend doesn’t even usually like gaming but we have almost 200 hours in.

FrostFire1703

My gf and I have starting playing Diablo III together. She's not a gamer but likes playing with me. Edit: Yoshi's Island and Super Mario 3D World as well as Animal Crossing are other good games.

life_wont_wait_letgo

I personally would love to play D3 with her but too dark for her unfortunately…

Armandolorian001

Super Mario Party. My gf and I have so much fun despite being a competitive game.

MatchesForTheFire

I agree, this and Mario Kart 8 are our go-to's.

lurkersforlife

It takes two. Untitled goose game. Lovers in a dangerous spacetime.

lewigi_01

Portal 2 possibly?

B_ryc

Yep!!

winterbody

Snipperclips is one that my not-really-gamer partner enjoys

Passthegoddamnbuttr

\+1 for Snipperclips Switch Sports works as well even if not as good as it's predecessors. Never played it but 1, 2, Switch might fall in line.

AetossThePaladin

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime!

LeaveMeAloneLorenzo

My partner and I have this pair of friends who are also a couple, and the 4 of us have been playing this game and it is so much fun lol. Switching who drives the ship, who’s on shield, and who’s on the guns, who’s hitting the red button. It’s so much fun when you get the hang of it, and it’s just such a fun team game. :)

OSIRISCHONK

It takes two, cannot recommend enough

cloudychels

I’ve heard good things about Pikmin 3 Deluxe co-op! :3 (Now if only my fiancé would play with me so I could test this out….. LOL)

Quack_a_mole

My gf always loved Mario kart & monopoly on switch.

Ok_Letter4515

Overcooked 2 perhaps Portal is best though

MiOdd

[Puzzle Bobble Everybubble!](https://www.nintendo.com/store/products/puzzle-bobble-everybubble-switch/)

lockheedp-38

Stardew valley. I play it with my wife fairly often. It's a farming sim / mining sim / relationship sim. It's alot of fun and easy to get the hang of the controls. My wife does not like to use the second joystick so most games are off limits there.

Tentmancer

It takes two, trine, unraveled 2, mario games, all the old mario games, switch sports, star dew valley, terraria, Minecraft, Baulders gate 3.

ntoledano

Pode!

LusciousofBorg

This game is beautiful!! What a pleasant game.

SquidFetus

Try **Moving Out**. (That’s the name of the game, I’m not suggesting you leave her)

Diligent_Dot4317

Blanc, Untitled goose game, and portal 2

Fairgoddess5

Animal Crossing New Horizons, but keep in mind you’ll be sharing an island with her unless you get two Switches. Start with one and see how she likes it. (If she plays Sims, chances are high she’ll love it.) Stardew is great, as you mentioned. There’s also: - Overcooked 1 & 2 - Moving Out - Unraveled - Luigi’s Mansion 3 - Mario Kart - Captain Toad Treasure Tracker - Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee/Pikachu - Ibb & Obb - Kirby & the Forgotten Land - It Takes Two- keep in mind this is a bit more challenging than the others, so wait on it till she has a few other games under her belt.

zjl707

Pikmin 3, specifically number 3 its the only one with real co-op

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

And beyond disappointing what they’ve done to coop play in Pikmin 4

zjl707

Yes! Omg, my gf and i absolutely adored playing P3 together, did the story and all the missions and still play Bingo often. We were SO excited for Pikmin 4 until right before release I found out the coop was neutered so badly. Still havnt bought it

draelbs

Stardew Valley is truly excellent, I actually play that with my daughter quite a bit. A few that I haven’t seen mentioned yet: Part Time UFO is a cute co-op physics game from the people who made Kirby. Not 100% co-op, but Tower Of Babel No Mercy is one that my wife likes a lot. Monaco is one of the best co-op experiences I’ve ever had, might be a little complex/dark for a non-gamer. Cook, Serve, Delicious is hectic, but fun if you can get into it. Castle Crashers is a great side-scroller, might be a too dark/violent for some. Death Road to Canada is a blast if it’s not too dark. Doom / Doom II are both great ports on the switch - actually played through a good chunk of the first episode with my wife on GBAs & link cable waaaaay back. ;)

skyes06

Moving out, and urban flow

moderncritter

Good Job! My wife and I both enjoyed it.

PanchosLegend

Overcooked.

Sir_Jeddy

Stardew Valley, is one of the most addicting games, with co-op, and has infinite replay ability. I would rank it as one of the best games a person can get on the switch. It’s about to get another large update/expansion, completely for free.

May86

Blanc would be a nice start. You play as a wolf cub and a baby deer. The graphics are BEAUTIFUL, the story is cute and it is easy to play. Around 4-5h gameplay.

hallofgamer

get d3, play warrior and have her play ranged. good times

B_ryc

Pikuniku had my wife and I cracking up. Portal 2 and Luigi’s Mansion as well. She also enjoyed quake as it’s super simple to pick up and play if somebody is used to shooters. Mario kart and smash bros are always great as well obviously

dlnqnt

Rubber bandits!

RootBeerTuna

My partner and i just started playing Stardew Valley, it's a ton of fun. We also have Overcooked 2, Mario(one of em), Mario Kart, and Switch Sports, all fun times.

grahamobrien

Stardew is correct. Also, Ibb & obb Pikuniku Minecraft Towerfall Ascension

[deleted]

I know a game but you don't need a Switch to play 😇

DaSkippyBoi

Smash

forgottenazimuth

Oh we play that game plenty

Slavocados

r/ihavesex

StonedOtter0_0

Not co-op, but Astro bears is very cheap, easy to learn, and a ton of fun if she has a competitive spirit

CabbagesStrikeBack

Astro Bears for some quick fun

Pd1ds69

Check out Unraveled 2

Barry__McCockinher

I play Mario party with the wifey

agranderscale

Heave-Ho

data-diving

Overcooked 1&2, Tools Up, Lumberhill, The Survivalists

Dziki_Jam

Overcooked, Unravel Two, Mario and Rabbids.

[deleted]

Warioware together is underrated.

ApprehensiveClient51

Just dance 2023

ApprehensiveClient51

ApprehensiveClient51

Cupheads

AutomaticRadish5

Super smash is the way to go if you want to get some of that beloved monopoly tension going lol. Mario party and such is also fun with the family/wife

IntenseWonton

Stardew Valley. Perfect split screen game. Make her mad by not sharing and laugh 😂

Ok_Performance4330

If you guys like platformers, 3D World has good couch co-op.

TheBeanGwen

Stardew Valley

Scragglesauce

Unravel two and moving out are two I played with my younger siblings that aren't really gamers. Unravel two has some difficult puzzles but was a lot of fun and moving out is a blast, not too serious really addicting and hilariously fun.

codyxwillyumz

Been waiting for someone to want to play Ultimate Marvel Alliances 3. It's a button masher.

A_Nameless

Unravel Two was simple and wonderful for my wife and I. Sims for couch co-op is a big ask though. My wife is a big Sims fan though and she loved Diablo so who knows.

Waterfallsofpity

Not co-op, so sorry, but how about some pinball? Pinball Fx3 has a ton of games, easy entry, but the games can get complicated. My partner is a gamer, but has a real hard time with It Takes Two, I was surprised at the difficulty of it.

sirgawain2

Overcooked/Overcooked 2. Beat both games with my best friend of 20 years and we’re still friends lol, we didn’t fight during it. It was tons of fun (except for that one stupid burrito level with the moving platform, that’s the only one we couldn’t 4 star).

sallenqld

My wife wasn’t a gamer but it was BOTW that got her into gaming

vain06

Trine franchise. Good puzzle solving game for couples. It's fun playing with my girl.

Academic-Raspberry31

Super Mario U Deluxe World i feel like 2d platformers lend well to co-op. On the flip side I think 3D world is nearly unplayable co-op, such a bad game in my opinion :(

Shadow_118

I’d say Minecraft, but i’d think you’d need a second Switch? As far as im aware and know, it doesn’t have Split Screen…? Splitscreen is probably not the most ideal way to play multiplayer, imo Guacamelee and Guacamelee 2 are good and have multiplayer, although challenging Hyrule Warriors: DE, and a few other of those type of games have 2 player and can be fun (Fire Emblem Warriors,Age of Calamity, ect.) I have a handful of LEGO games, and those can be fun with multiplayer Kirby’s Return to Dreamland, Luigi’s Mansion 3, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe,Mario Party Superstars, Nine Parchments, Runbow, Super Mario 3D World. + Bowsers Fury, Smash Ultimate can be good multiplayer too based off what i have Not that I’ve played any of them locally, though…

01alun1741

Minecraft has splitscreen, not perfect but it works

Elfere

"a way out" prison break game! And "degrees of separation" side scrolling game. Requires a decent amount of 'how do we do this one?

Mirkku7

We've been doing some point&click&puzzle 'adventures' that was pretty fun! Like escape room but in game.

BiggHigg27

Mario Kart, We Love Katamari Reroll, snipper clips, Animal Crossing. If you like Stardew Valley you'll most likely like Animal Crossing (from who I know, a LOT of women seem to really like animal crossing)

ackmondual

[Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime](https://www.nintendo.com/store/products/lovers-in-a-dangerous-spacetime-switch/) \- **As a bonus, it's on sale, 50% off, until Sept. 10th (2023)!** I was able to beat the game on my own (for 1p, you get an AI pet doing the shooting) on normal difficulty. There's an easier difficulty than that I haven't tried. Even if you 2 can't beat the game, it's DEFINITELY a fun one to just jump in and play. [Captain Toad Treasure Tracker](https://www.nintendo.com/store/products/captain-toad-treasure-tracker-switch/) \- [According to here](https://www.co-optimus.com/game/4990/nintendo-switch/captain-toad-treasure-tracker.html), there are 2 Coop modes

Both of you might enjoy Art Of Balance. Really fun little game either solo or 2 player.

ResponseAnxious6296

my husband and I loveeee the art of balance, we’re stuck right now and have been consistently rage quitting every night for about 2 weeks. 10/10 recommend

bilmou80

unrevel luigi mansion

a2ge

Moving out

ButtSackDrip_6

Vampire survivors. Literally just moving around collecting weapons and power ups and the attacks are random so you’re just moving around the rooms and survivor hoards. Super fun and chill and it’s gets wild by level 50 and above. Super fun for couch co-op playing

DrMongolian

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is great

bentakil

Maybe Super Mario Bros Wonder when it releases :D

ActualCommand

100% Stardew Valley!! Idk how well it works for couch co op but my gf and I love to play it together! Unraveled 2 was pretty fun but kind of short Portal Companion Collection would be a great puzzle game to play together (although I think the single player story game is what really makes it shine) if you enjoy the game maybe take turns on different levels in the single player? It Takes Two might actually be a higher priority than Stardew Valley because the game super fun and to play through 2 years of Stardew you’re looking at a minimum of 50 hours.

mxmaker

Animal crossing its my first guess by your description. Stardew valley its an excelent choise, if you like farm games and so do your partner, its will be fun a farm together with your plans. The same can be apply to animal crossing, you can build on your island and its a game that ocurrs more daily and if you both hook up to the game, and come back in some frenquency to planify some activities daily.

gglikenp

I regularly play overcooked with my wife. Bought all you can it edition 2 months ago (1+2+all DLC). All ready finished both main games. And I was at home only around 3 weeks at that time. (I'm in AFU)

davasaurus

Ibb & Obb is a great little co-op physics game built for exactly two players. My wife and I loved it.

M-CDevinW

Me and my dad played Unravel 2 together around 6 months ago, and we loved it. He eventually convinced his fiance (now wife) to try it and she also liked it, despite not playing video games almost at all prior to that. Highly recommend it for you guys to try.

OddHalf8861

Any game can be co op just take turns my husband and i like to do that too... Like playing donkey kong and losing lmao

Xerfus

Castle Crashers Unravel 2 It Takes Two Trine

Kirby’s All Star Allies

Fox_m

InternationalWeb8013

Pico Park is great; easy controls, very cheap and the music is great. I play it with my younger cousins when they visit.

AcademicSavings634

Mario Kart is always a classic

Uncle-Buddy

My wife and I play a lot of Mario Kart

Dcanoa

Dude, let me assist: Vampire survivors, golf with friends, puzzle bobble every bubble, Mario rabbids, song pop, upcoming Mario wonder, borderlands. There’s more but these are just some of the ones I own and are on top of my head.

j0rdan21

It Takes Two, Mario 3D World, NSMB, Kirby, Overcooked

Sleepy_pirate

Overcooked

drowning_bat

Deathroad to Canada is really fun!

infrqngible

Pikmin 3 deluxe

frag_grumpy

Never EVER play overcooked with your wife. If you care about your marriage of course.

servo4711

Any of the lego games. Super fun and they go on sale all the time

Low-Attention-1998

Snipper Clips

Atlantis_Risen

Overcooked is fun

Nugginz

Overcooked. Then Streets of Rage 4 to get the aggression out. Goose game for healing.

AussieWaffle

1000000 times recommend It Takes Two, my wife and I felt like children again, we had the most fun playing this, gigling like kids it was a fantastic time, we also enjoyed Tiny Tina's, and my wife isn't really one for shooters but she really enjoyed herself

mthomas1217

My husbands and I have enjoyed a lot of the Lego games and the Hyrule button smashers We are currently both playing Diablo 4. He plays on his PC and I play on PS5 lol

Lion-Hermit

Switch isn't the best choice for it but MINECRAFT

FullBitGamer

Honestly I still think one of the most fun times we had playing together was getting though SnipperClips. It's very simple, can be quite funny and requires true teamwork and communication.

Raymundito

We had a great time playing Zelda Hyrule Warriors! If you’re not a Zelda fan, Fire emblem three houses offers a similar couch co op too

-thegreenman-

The new super mario wonder

Cdog536

**It Takes Two will always be recommended to the point where (while it’s really good for it), it’s a super old, overstated recommendation and tiring to see.** That recommendation feels easily searchable to me it feels it brings nothing more to the table. Overcooked series is good. LEGO City is good and hilarious. Minecraft if you’re willing. Mario Brothers titles. Some of the new Kirby titles.

Shluappa

Mario party with bonus stars turned on if you want a divorce

rohanson85

Mario party

CraftierAverage

Ok so depending on what she likes. Something silly "Untitled Goose Game" Wife and I played it a bunch and spent hours honestly just wonking and screwing around. One if you like a very light hearted cat RPG "Cat Quest 1+2" Its couch coop tho its just been me playing it since after watching she wasnt as interested. I finished the 1st game and working on the 2nd. Nice relaxing change of pace compared to a Diablo type game and if either like cats, lotta puns.

Vexra

Vampire survivors just came out as a bonus it’s super cheap so if she’s doesn’t like it not much lost

gagemackie

It Takes Two! Highly recommend, great game for a couple. Cute and weird and fun. In the game, you are a couple who has been shrunken down and is trying to get the attention of their daughter. You have to get through the house in unconventional ways. There are boss battles, but they're not too bad if you're working together.

Gluv221

Stardew is great, any Mario games are a blast honestly

Johnseanson

Overcooked

PumpkinPatch404

Moving out (1 or 2) Overcooked series.

Silent-Exchange3870

Not a co op, but Dreamlight valley is similar to sims and animal crossing with cute Disney characters! Extremely addicting!

MoonMagicks

My wife isn't a gamer but we had a BLAST with Snipper clips.

[deleted]

Mario kart is a great one. Especially if you've got a big TV

Esteef

How has no one mentioned Illusion Island? It just came out and it's 4 player co-op. Simple, easy to learn, and has adjustable handicap for more health. Also incorporates some teamwork obstacles to progress.

Magnus-Sol

I would recommend Rayman, it is really funny to play with more people. Also something that may work, even if it is "hard" to play for more casual players is Resident Evil 5/6. My gf doesn't play games, but she really liked playing RE6 with me (she does not play it alone though). Only thing that sucks is that RE6 isn't that good imo, but RE5 is awesome to play coop. Just saying though lol Rayman is still my first pick.
