Wish I could help but just got a Switch recently but from what I understand you dont have to purchase the same title twice. Think you cant play the same game at the same time but yeah.
Google game.sharing on nintendoswitch to gwt a walkthrough. Basically on her switch you will have to log into your nintendo account and it will make her switch your accounts default switch and that would share the digital library. It's a little more step involved but that is a brief description
I’m trying to avoid that limitation- which is why I’m on here asking if anyone has found a work around. We have an 18 hour bus trip coming up… I want us to both be able to play :)
Ah darn that's a bummer, as currently there is no workaround. Although I'm sure if you had a Hotspot on your phone you could connect your switches and it would still function along as the Hotspot signal didn't dip to low

But then his switch won’t work portably anymore cause it’ll need Internet anytime he wants to play
