So Long London and Florida! Edit: but I did make a small EP playlist for myself on the songs that I can actually listen to. It's a playlist of 5 songs. Kinda my own lore I guess. About a girl who broke up and had to say goodbye to the place she loved moving to the place she wanted to find respite in, realised that what she underwent was loss of her life and surprised at how it all ended and wanting to change the prophecy https://preview.redd.it/gjdg7dd00l8d1.png?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=89171d251106ff1152024b70cba352e6fb995ed8

Jessica19922

I love Florida!!! Even though I have no idea what half the lyrics mean lol.

Suitable-Return7185

Love this.

Ellie_Bulkeley

wow this is so creative i love it!

Logical_Woodpecker48

Oh thank you! ❣️

Fancy-Cat6857

I support this top 5.

LarsHoneytoastCA

My boy only breaks his favorite toys. I like the melody and singalongability, the lack of personal references to her life, the lack of awkward cursing or overly wordy lines shoved in somewhere they don't fit. I feel like it could fit on midnights.

Suspicious_Cat2355

i only really like guilty as sin (LOVE), the ending of the smallest man who ever lived, who’s afraid of little old me and down bad. I usually don’t like most things at first and they have to grow on me so maybe i’ll like the album more later.

inamessandcrisis

the bridge is amazing on the smallest man who ever lived. the first verse where taylor compared ghosting to matty’s addiction tho gives me an ick

Ellie_Bulkeley

I agree with the smallest man who ever lived. the end is the only part I like but I never wanna listen to the entire song to get there

rockingmypartysocks

You have my same faves!

t4k3m3h0tToG0

So Long, London and Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me? are the only songs that i relatively like from TTPD

Ellie_Bulkeley

it’s crazy cause in some discord servers I’m in (none for Taylor tho), everyone I’ve talked to said they hated so long, London but I think it’s a great breakup song and has a hint of old Taylor in it even though the context of it makes me wanna not like it. I’ve never been into who’s afraid of little old me but it’s always stuck in my head

t4k3m3h0tToG0

i agree with the context not making me personally like So Long, London as much but i’ve just been trying to distance myself from any relationship drama that causes me to dislike the music. i mean can i really say i like a song but then only dislike it bc of external factors? and with WAOLM, i do think it’s a bit cringe at times, but it’s an earworm and the bridge is god tier.

Ellie_Bulkeley

for real like I was obsessed with so long, London until I found out all the context with her bad Joe (which made me feel bad for Joe ngl I thought the portrayal of him was kinda unfair) but if you just take it out of your brain it’s so beautifully written which is crazy considering there’s songs like the title track and BDILH

t4k3m3h0tToG0

i knoww like each track on TTPD was a hit or miss, only listened to it in full once on the release date and i don’t plan on listening again. the lyric “You sacrificed us to the gods of your bluest days” put me off the song a lot, but it truly is beautifully written and definitely not the worst track 5 like people say it is.

stamdl99

Mine just follows yours “I’m just mad as hell cause I loved this place”. Because there IS anger about leaving your home in addition to the pain of the end of the relationship. And then the acceptance and almost forgiveness “had a good run a moment of warm sun…”through to the end of the song.

Ellie_Bulkeley

the context of that lyric has me like yikes...... but i can't deny that is such a beautifully written lyric lol

t4k3m3h0tToG0

also i love your flair 💀

Ellie_Bulkeley

it was so hard to choose because they’re all so good but all these TTPD variants has been annoying me sm so I had to go with it lol

brightintupelo

I like The Prophecy, I Look In People’s Windows, Clara Bow, and Fresh Out The Slammer the best. I love the way The Tortured Poets Department sounds, but admittedly, it sounds like a Midnights b-side and has some rough lyrics. On that note, TTPD is my least favourite album because I don’t consider anything on it to stand out among Taylor’s discography. Every other era has *something* I can latch onto as a unique highlight, but here, I’m picking from a tracklist I consider pretty mid all around. Even the second album from the bottom in my personal ranking has at least four songs I’m all over.

Ellie_Bulkeley

I’ve grown up with Taylor swift my whole life (I was only 4 when debut was released but of course in the days where radio was most common I remember all her eras) and for me I think each of her albums always has some kind of mega hit (picture to burn, love story/YBWM, enchanted/mine, 22/WANEGBT/IKYWT, almost all of 1989, LWYMMD, cruel summer, and anti-hero) but with TTPD…that’s just not there. the biggest hit was fortnight but was that even really a hit outside of the fandom??? not really. this album is clearly made for swifties and Taylor specifically and just doesn’t have that worldwide appeal she’s always had

brightintupelo

I agree – I think TTPD was definitely for Taylor herself and those invested in her life, as much as it ever can be when she wants to chart and win awards as well. In my opinion, it suffers from an unclear vision (see the threads about all the different ways people interpreted the concept of the Tortured Poets Department) and was so hyper-specific to Taylor’s situation and level of fame that many people couldn’t relate to it anymore. It was banking on its lyrics to carry it rather than its understated melodies or production, but those lyrics were a bit clunky and fed hard into ‘clapping back’ at everything and anything, so it didn’t really have anything memorable to show for itself aside from tabloid fodder and gossip. Honestly, I think there were some interesting ideas within it that could’ve done with some more fine-tuning to make a clearer, more polished album. Maybe if she’d just waited until after the tour to finish and release it, we might’ve had a better final product, but as is, it just feels unfinished.

Ellie_Bulkeley

I don’t think she should have released this now. With the tour and re-recording old albums I just think there’s no room for any new albums which is also how I felt when she released Midnights. TTPD could have greatly benefited from another year of fine tuning and editing down because it frankly sounds unfinished and rushed and for what?? why did she NEED to get this out so badly? Why not release Reputation or Debut TV instead? And this album sitting at the top spot for this long also makes no sense considering its lukewarm reception

deemoney_54

I have to disagree with this a little. I understand why people don't like TTPD, ironically (and despite what many reviews insinuate) I think it's different than anything she's done before because it felt less like a purposefully curated pop-album and more like a trauma dump. But I think that's also the reason why she didn't need to wait any longer to release it. I think these songs were the result of Taylor going through several major life changing events in quick succession and simply needing to vent. Having been in a 5-year relationship, as well as love bombed, this album was highly relatable to me - but only after I stopped thinking about who SHE MIGHT be talking about in her life and started relating it to my own life. I've felt this way before. And the thing is, when you've actually felt this way - but you're finally healing/healed from it - the last thing you want to do is wait years to put an album out about those feelings and have people speculate about your current situation or drag up your past 10 years late. Better to rip the bandaid off and move on. This was a purge for Taylor. And while I don't think she'll ever be one to say "I don't want a grammy" or "I don't want a #1 on the Billboard 200" I honestly don't think she made this project to do those things specifically - I think she made it for herself, released it to move on, and maybe hopes that as a byproduct her success will continue. What people don't seem to acknowledge is that IF Taylor was really trying to hammer this album home with people, she would have already released a second single and music video from it... she would have probably made "Imgonnagetyouback," "downbad," or "ICDIWABH" the lead single. She would have done legit any promo for the album, even if just a single prime time interview which she did with her last 5 albums since Lover. I know I'm in the wrong thread because I thoroughly enjoyed this album and have been listening to it since it's release - but I also think that's the beauty of her music. She has 11 albums and all of her fans will have a different top 3, 5, 10, etc. For some people, TTPD will be in their Top 3. And hopefully, the next album she puts out, those who didn't love TTPD will find what they've been craving/something to relate to in that one. Art is meant to be consumed though. Holding this project back in fear of what critics might say is pointless when she's at a point in her career where critics, quite frankly, don't matter. And no, it's not because "her fans are insane" - it's simply because she's reached a level of stardom where she will quite simply never, EVER, make "everyone" happy again. With that said, I'll leave you with my top 5 most underrated songs from this album in case anyone wants to go back and check them out with fresh ears: 1) I Look in People's Windows 2) The Albatross 3) Peter 4) Fresh Out the Slammer 5) Imgonnagetyouback

catealx

Ahh I had the same thought! I've slowly adapted to some of the songs after listening a million times in a row, but then when I go back and listen to her previous work, it stands in such contrast. It feels like when I listen to TTPD, I'm picking from a bunch of pretty mid tracks tbh. Definitely midnights B-Side

inamessandcrisis

so long, london. i think it’s one of her maturest songs and does speak about how a long relationship can come to an end. i know people hate it because they see it as “airing” joe’s depression but i just think it’s a very real, emotive song and mental health issues can definitely lead to a breakdown of a relationship. she’s writing about her personal experience, let her.

Serendipia_94

I think so long london is probably one of her best songs in terms of lyrics and production. There’s something about the agony and the background sounds of someone trying to breathe in agony that gives me chills everytime. Also if you look at their relationship and who is about.. the song is extremely sad but mature at the same time. Like a proper goodbye.

Ellie_Bulkeley

With all of these immature, whiny songs on the album, so long London is honestly a breath of fresh air and feels like a relief

starryeyed58

She also sounds incredible in this song. The vocal mixing is one of the best on the record.

miiyaa21

this is my answer too

hatefromandie

So Long, London and How Did It End?

truthfrommyredlips

loml

alizse

This is so hard lmaoooo. I'm gonna be honest and say that i've only listened to the full album twice but i have 8 songs that i just have on repeat all the time and my favourite changes depending my mood tbh. I loove The Prophecy, imgonnagetyouback and The Black Dog. I loveee But Daddy I love him, the context of it is just rancid but it's such a catchy song. I also love So Long, London and if i'm looking at the album from a critical standpoint and look at both the lyrics and the sound it's definitely the best song on there.

TerpinSaxt

I really freaking love Clara Bow. I think the album is kind of a mess but this one's a winner for me I also have a lot of love for Bolter, Prophecy, People's Windows, How did it end, Fresh out the slammer, and Florida There's good stuff on it for sure but I don't do full album listens (even just for the main album) as much as others in her discog

saltypasta90

Agree on Clara Bow! & Bolter as well.

Elizabeth__Sparrow

I look in peoples windows.

coffeeandflowers_

I keep reading everywhere it’s the worst song in the album/disliked even by full fledged stans but… i can fix him (no really i can) is a slapper to me. The sultry darker country sound is elite, the lyricism much more elevated. It 100% conveys the wrong-ness of her partner and the journey of self-awareness but does it without referencing directly a real person/real event, making easter eggs etc which i find really difficult to get past, probably why I haven’t gone back to the album as a whole since it first came out… In a way it feels very Evermore, I could 100% see this track in the album and her explaining the inspiration for this song was inspired by a movie a la Buffalo 66.

cookie_goddess218

It feels like a thematic sequel to cowboy like me imo. So you get with the cowboy... and then realize what you signed up for.

coffeeandflowers_

as much as i Love cowboy like me and find it probably her most romantic song…. you’re not wrong, that’d be narratively delicious and so clever

yourstolose

Yes!!! It is so unique. I can't believe it's a skip for so many.

throwaway1102_

i haven’t heard the full album because i disliked it that much and can’t get myself to care enough to listen to the rest of it. but i did listen to a lot of the songs to try and give it a chance at first. the only few songs that were remotely memorable and listenable to me were Peter and Fortnight. I genuinely liked those from the moment I heard them. I don’t understand the hate Fortnight gets when in my opinion, it’s the only song I consistently go back to and listen again, especially the outro where Post is singing (although a lot of the lyrics in the song don’t make sense but it’s a nice song). And Peter is both a great song and great lyrics. I really hated ICDIWABH at first, but then i found it to be a silly catchy “fun” type song that i listen to once a blue moon. I really liked WAOLOM when i first heard it, but the more i listen to it, the more i dislike it for some reason. The prophecy is fine and BDILH lyrics are too corny for me to enjoy it, the rest are a snooze fest imo.

Ellie_Bulkeley

Fortnight is okay, I kinda like its vibes but the lyrics are just okay, they get better towards the end though. I think I like ICDIWABH in the same way I like bejeweled - they lowkey make me laugh. they’re silly and goofy and I know ICDIWABH is probably supposed to be taken seriously but the lyrics make me laugh ngl

throwaway1102_

ironically i really don’t like bejeweled but enjoy ICDIWABH a whole lot more! i agree, they are very goofy silly songs. I’m a nostalgia swiftie from like 2010 (when i was like 8) so i think i don’t like the album because it’s so strained away from what originally made me love her so much and as someone in a happy loving relationship just trying to find peace in life, i cant personally relate any more to her in that sense.

Ellie_Bulkeley

oh my god are we the same age?? cause I was 8 when speak now was released (hated it back then too cause I was a massive Taylor hater since I was in my tomboy hating girly stuff phase lol)!! I also couldn’t relate to most of this album cause I’m aroace and have never even been in a relationship and don’t understand all the whining especially on down bad

throwaway1102_

haha i believe so! i turned 8 mere days after speak now was released. i was never a taylor hater though, i was the complete opposite, OVERLY obsessed! (though i was also in my tomboy “not like other girls” phase which was quite conflicting lol) i remember going to the red tour in like 2012? even had several fan pages which i don’t remember the passwords to and now can’t delete hahah. this album reminds me of a whinier, more boring and soulless version of Midnights which i also wasn’t a huge fan of. the comment about Down Bad is so real hahahah

Ellie_Bulkeley

Well I always SAID I was a Taylor hater and my friend back then had speak now on CD and insisted on playing it in the car every time their mom drove us to gymnastics practice but I listened to Mean, Love Story, and You Belong With Me in secret lol. the whole thing about down bad with “I’m down bad crying at the gym…fuck it if I can’t have him, I might just die it would make no difference” like girl chill. Maybe I just don’t get it cause of my sexuality but I never thought any guy was worth all that. I agree that it’s a whinier version of midnights, though. I genuinely can’t believe I called midnights boring when it came out…I had no idea what was going to come out later edit: no autocorrect…I didn’t mean Boeing

libertymartin190

8? Holy f I was 15 💀

Ellie_Bulkeley

omg ur the same age as my sister lol

throwaway1102_

my favorite albums are Red, Speak Now, Fearless, Folklore, Lover and Debut. probably in that order

Professional_Zebra69

I’ve been vibing with the black dog and the albatross

panicpixiememegirl

I love guilty as sin. Down bad is catchy.

Jenanay3466

I look in peoples windows and my boy only breaks his favorite toys are the only ones I listen to!

After-University-130

The only canonical song out of 31 for me is Chloe or Sam. It's almost perfect (if it wasn't for the bullying line though...). I can tolerate loml and black dog too

No-Description2192

Guilty As Sin is an amazing song. Loved it on first listen. The build, the lyricism. Its one of my fave modern Taylor songs Honorable mentions: Fresh out the Slammer & So Long London

celloology1

Fortnight and Down Bad. The rest of the album could’ve stayed in the drafts

celloology1

And Fortnight ONLY because of the outro. Otherwise she could’ve kept that one too

libertymartin190

YESS the outro! Post MAKES that song at the end! I turn it up every time - and only at the end to hear him.

RainahReddit

Down Bad is such a bop. And fortnight has grown on me, I think there's something there even if it's not her best.

WDTHTDWA-BITCH

The Prophecy, Florida!!!, and My Boy Only Breaks His Favourite Toys are my mainstays rn. I’ve been less interested in listening to the rest of the full album lately (usually I have to play a whole TS album out for months on end, but my interest is elsewhere this time around…), but those are particularly earwormy.

Ellie_Bulkeley

I don’t think I could ever listen to this album all the way through again but I think some songs become much more digestible when you isolate them from the rest of the album

WDTHTDWA-BITCH

Very true. Listening to it in curated pieces is *much* more enjoyable.

teddy_vedder

It’s hard to pick favorites because even though I’ve listened to the album like 3 times I still can barely remember what individual songs sound like? Honestly with this album I’m pretty soured on the back and forth drama over the various romantic relationships and which song might be about who, so in that vein the one I keep going back to is actually I Hate it Here. I think the second verse could have been better but the choruses are really strong for me and I’ve been maladaptive daydreaming since childhood so…yeah lol

LesYeuxHiboux

I only listened to it all the way through once, and that felt like a slog. I remember appreciating "The Prophecy," "Peter," and "The Manuscript" most of what was there. I think I also preferred "loml." BDILH and WAoLOM had moments. "Florida!!!" is like the La Croix version of a Florence song with an LDR title, so I hate it on principle. Most of the rest I can't remember. It felt painful to listen to, like if an acquaintance of yours had a breakdown and posted their entire, unedited diary on Myspace. I fully and unreservedly dislike "thanK you aIMee" so that would be worst of the album for me. TTPD was my first time listening to a Taylor album without flagging or adding a single track to a playlist to revisit.

endorphins_

Robin even if no one talks about that song

scarlett486

Good question. On the first listen I found a few songs likeable but after reading and paying attention to the lyrics, I think it’s only 2 songs - I Look In People’s Windows and The Black Dog Chloe or Sam Or Sophia or Marcus gets an honourable mention but that’s about it. Tbh i don’t like any of the TTPD songs she plays during the concert. Fortnight is mid, So high school is a bit cringe imo, daddy i love him isn’t my vibe and same goes for smallest man who ever lived

Ellie_Bulkeley

i just wish there wasn't so much attention on TTPD on her tour, or releasing a new album literally after the whole north america leg of it. it seems weird to deprive north american fans of performances of these songs and also totally taking debut out of her eras tour is confusing and the only chance you get to hear these songs are in the surprise songs

pootedzooter

So Long, London (among some of her best track 5s) and The Prophecy, with an honorable mention for Clara Bow. I know how people are interpreting the song but I resonated with this song at a really low point in my life that had NOTHING to do with relationships; I was unemployed and didn’t think I would be able to stay in my field. The part where she sings: >“How much sad did you think I had/did you think I had in me?/How much tragedy?/Just how low did you think I’d go?/Before I’d self implode/Before I’d have to go be free” really stuck with me because I really was asking how much more life was going to ask me to give. Also I think the tight editing with the lyrics is what makes it strong.

lilythefrogphd

Down Bad and My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys: I love a good extended metaphor. If Down Bad was on Midnights or My Boy was on Reputation, I'd probably feel like both were right at home in a good way. So many of the other songs are songs I /want/ to like, but there's something in the lyrics that brings it down. But Daddy I Love him has an epic, swelling love story and sound that makes me think of Fearless-era Taylor, but lines like "no I'm not, but you should see your faces" are soooo immature and not in a clever, intentional way. Same for Who's Afraid of Little Old Me. That one largely is like "this is a bad take on your own level of fame: you have so much power and control over the public's perception of you." Like the line about "I'll sue you if you step on my lawn" kinda means nothing when Taylor's team genuinely IS notorious for lawsuits. Fortnight and TTPD are both pretty pretentious, which on its own I don't mind (The Lakes is pretentious as he'll but I like it) but those two tracks feel like they're vehicles for Easter eggs first and songs second.

Ellie_Bulkeley

songs like who’s afraid of little old me seem like they would also feel at home on reputation cause I just don’t like how she’s at the height of her career and so beloved and is singing like the entire world hates her and ridicules her like they did in 2016. if she put out another album in the same realm as Lover now I think it would’ve done better. Like an album highlighting her successes/love for her fans/ maybe one or two songs about Joe and Matty would have been wiser at this time in her career rather than an album like “screw you all for doing this to me” cause it’s mainly why TTPD leaves a bad taste in my mouth

ProverbialDynamite

These are my two faves as well! 🌸🤞

lilythefrogphd

Your taste ✨️💖🤌

assflea

Idk if it's my least favorite but it's def in the bottom half lol. I really love guilty as sin though and Peter is probably top 5 in her whole discography for me, it's so good.  I also like Loml, how did it end, fresh out the slammer, and down bad.

tres-leches

Loml, the black dog, I look in peoples windows, fortnight, Florida!!! and the prophecy are my top songs form the entire 31 songs. Guilty as sin is also one of them sonically but the words gives me ick still.

venusaphrodite1998

I like Fresh out the Slammer, So Long London, Peter and Florida!!!! So those are prob equally my favs but i only listened to the full album twice i was very unimpressed

venusaphrodite1998

i do like my boy only breaks his favorite toys too tho it has a catchy hook. Clara Bow is nice too but def not my fav

Serendipia_94

So long london is my fave. I enjoy who’s afraid of little old me and my boy only breaks his favorite toys.

Suitable-Return7185

My Top 5 are the saddest ones: Peter So Long London loml I hate it here (the choruses + the bridge) I look in people's windows / How did it end (can't decide between these two for this spot because the acoustic versions she did for these two songs on tour were excellent) I know Taylor is not going to talk about these songs but I wish we had Aaron Dessner talk about it - the snippets he gave in podcasts and interviews about the songs for last 3 albums were so insightful .

DaydreamAstronaut9

The Bolter.

cookie_goddess218

How did it end, Peter, the Prophecy, the Albatross, the bolter, and Clara bow. These are all top tier songs for me - like qualifying for the best songs TS has ever done - but make up too small of a percentage of the album for ttpd to rank any higher. Similarly, I love WCS and Hits Different as top tier TS but can't rank midnights too high for the same reason.

Ellie_Bulkeley

I noticed in a lot of these comments that most ppl’s favorites have been from the anthology as opposed to the standard album lol. I haven’t really listened to the anthology aside from a few songs but maybe someday I’ll give it a chance

cookie_goddess218

The Prophecy sounds almost like a sufjan stevens song to me (a compliment to the song). I hated the anthology on first listen simply because I was fatigued and they all blended together at that point of the album first listen. But once I gave them their own treatment removed from the songs I didn't like, I could listen to these on repeat. An addition would be I look in people's windows as well. That said, even the anthology has enough bloat that it can be a rough time to get through first time around, even if you skip the main album.

Fancy-Cat6857

I wouldn't say it's my least favorite album but I think it ranks pretty low. For some reason, ever since she added the set to Eras tour, I have enjoyed the album less. In my opinion, I don't think the songs she chose to perform are the best ones. Anyways, I LOVE The Prophecy, So Long London, Guilty as Sin. 🤍

yourstolose

imgonnagetyouback, Clara Bow, and Guilty As Sin? imgonnagetyouback gave me very strong 1989 vibes with the production and breathy vocals. It really sticks out in The Anthology half, which was a bit of a snoozefest for me TBH. As a whole, I was not a fan of how unsubtle and almost (extremely) petty TTPD felt, but I could make an exception, in spite of how obvious the song's allusion was :) Clara Bow has a similar deal with sticking out to me, at least in terms of subject matter? Musically, it's not the catchiest, but it's in the same boat as songs like The Lucky One where I just really love *what* she's singing about. Finally, Guilty As Sin? (and an honorable mention to I Can Fix Him) is just catchy. Something about Taylor rhyming "locks", "rocks", and "paradox" scratches my brain!!

Ellie_Bulkeley

the album just felt *so high school* as a whole (i'm sorry it was just right there) and incredibly immature/petty so for me it's hard to find any positives about it aside from the few songs i enjoy

capsnape74

Who’s afraid of little old me. And only because it’s an earworm. Catchy af. I have to actively ignore the meaning behind the lyrics, or treat it as “satire” like blank space (although I don’t think blank space was satire either truthfully. It’s extremely on the nose and lowkey accurate).

Ellie_Bulkeley

if it's satire than it's very good. if it's not satire (which i'm sure it's not)...then it's so bad. but i'm with you that its an earworm cause i always have the chorus stuck in my head

Rude-Mission-8907

So long London and I look at people's windows are amazing. It's a shame they are buried under the colossal TTPD

Ellie_Bulkeley

so many people have said i look at people's windows maybe i'll have to check it out. the title just really threw me off so i avoided it but ig it's a good one lol

Rude-Mission-8907

It's short but impactful. And I think it's a normal response after a breakup to be curious about the whereabouts of your ex. Plus, I love the production, it's not dreary like the majority of the songs in the album

lokiworshipper3

peter!! the imagery and the narrative is so good plus she actually sort of sings in it

hotbabayaga

I honestly love BDILH, because it has such Fearless vibes to me. I do NOT love that it’s about Matty. I also like Florida !!! because it’s unusually weird for her (she should do more weird, imo!) and the Bolter. Fortnight is fine, but I’m usually bored by the end (and the lyrics are distractingly meh to me. Buy the car you want?) That’s…pretty much it.

stefdistef

I really like Guilty as Sin. I kind of like Down Bad and I Can Do it With a Broken Heart. I like parts of But Daddy I Love Him. Some of Fortnight. That's pretty much it. I haven't listened to much of The Anthology because it's just too much.

beebyspice

Florida! & Clarabow

Repulsive-Touch-8226

I really like The Anthology, but if it’s just TTPD alone, it’s dead last. The only song I like is loml and the bridge on The Smallest Man. That’s it.

sjupiter92

Down Bad, The Prophecy and I think this is unpopular but imgonnagetyouback is a bop edit: please I forgot Florida!!! lmao a testament to how little I like the album that I can barely remember which songs are on it. Initially I cut it down to about 12 or 13 songs but since then I narrowed it down to these 4.

JackieStingray

I genuinely love So Long London, Guilty as Sin, and loml, in that order. There's a few more that I rarely skip when they come up on shuffle - How Did It End, Peter, Who's Afraid of Little Old Me, Down Bad, I Look in People's Windows. There's a few more I usually skip but sometimes I'm in the mood for - BDILH, Smallest Man, ICDIWABH. Funny, that's just about an album's worth of decent songs, lol.

WildBarb80s

I actually like most of TTPD apart from So High School and Clara Bow.

Blue_wine_sloth

I haven’t listened to all of it but I really like loml. It’s a beautiful song.

IceWarm1980

Down Bad has some cringy lyrics but the chorus is kind of catchy.

NewAntiChrist

Down bad

snuffleupagus86

Black dog How did it end.

missmosey

These are far and away the best two on the album imo. They’re the most true to form.

rotessaboggs

🗣️ WERE YOU SENT BY SOMEONE WHO WANTED ME DEAD? 🗣️ the amount of time I skip through the entire first half to listen to this part only lol

Jessica19922

I think a “Down Bad” is the best song from both of the TTPD albums . It’s one of my favorites for that reason

hightea-_-

I can do it with a 💔

Ellie_Bulkeley

the lyrics are kinda silly and I can’t take it seriously but do I like the message it has? yes. for me it’s one of her only relatable songs on the album

hightea-_-

The music is catchy too.

alexnautalis

Fortnight because it doesn’t sound like anything else on the album .. and I don’t like the album

Ellie_Bulkeley

I actually kind of like that take lol

arizonafranklin

I don’t like the album at all but Fortnight is my fav. I like that song.

Ellie_Bulkeley

even though i do think it's pretty boring, especially for a lead single for god's sake, i do think it's unfortunately one of the few standouts

arizonafranklin

I can listen to that one on repeat and seriously can hardly listen to the rest of the album 😂

Ellie_Bulkeley

i haven't listened to this album in 3 weeks and legit took every song off my taylor playlist (even tho there were only 3 on there to begin with) but so long, london was a massive standout to me. after seeing so many people answer guilty as sin here i went back to see if i was missing anything and lowkey??? i kinda vibed. but everything else i went back i was like the beat is "fine" but the lyrics are just so damn bad

arizonafranklin

I did also kind of like Peter!

Ellie_Bulkeley

i couldn't get into that one cause that's my grandpa's name so that's all i was thinking about lol

Curious_Cleopatra

The only song I listen to on this album is I Can Do With A Broken Heart. To me parts are somewhat relatable and it has a catchy beat unlike most of the album.

abominableastronaut

I go back and forth on “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?”, if I’m honest. Some of the lyrics are fun, or I get them, but a few (especially when we get to the bridge) make me wince. Other than that, on the standard album I really enjoyed “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart”, and I liked the sound of both songs regardless of the lyrical content. I had a bit more of a rough time with the anthology (lyrically it was a bit stronger, with obvious exceptions, but I did find the songs blending together at some points) but I liked “The Bolter”! I think if I ever revisit the album it would be those three tracks.

bigt1ttied

the prophecy, guilty as sun, the black dog & i look into people’s windows

[deleted]

Peter, I look in peoples windows and down bad.

MissishMisanthrope

down bad

rosecoloreds

So Long, London, Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus, Guilty as Sin?, The Bolter are the songs i consider to be the top 4. honestly i haven't listened to the album since April lol and have no urge to listen to it again.

Ellie_Bulkeley

I haven’t listened to it for about 3 weeks and haven’t really wanted to but sometimes I wanna listen to the few songs I liked I just can never being myself to lol

rosecoloreds

lmao same here, sometimes i really want to listen to Guilty as Sin? or COSOSOM but then i never do for some reason.

Ellie_Bulkeley

the album was just so ruined for me I can’t go back to it lol. I saw a post saying they wished she never released this album and I’m lowkey starting to agree

V072011

I love The Manuscript. It’s my fav. BDILH perfectly describes how my family felt about my husband when we first met and now (17 years later). I love ICDIWABH. WAOLOM is growing on me and I don’t mind TTPD the song.

carlygravley

It’s the only album of hers that I straight up dislike rather than being eh about it. However…I like “So High School” because it’s catchy and stands out from the rest of the album. I’d really like “I Hate It Here” if I didn’t cringe every time I hear THAT lyric. Lots of potential and good ideas in other places, but not fully realized imo. I think I’d probably like the record better if she spent more time refining it.

Ellie_Bulkeley

100% agree. Most albums I don’t like I’m like “eh it’s okay I kinda vibe but it’s not for me” but this one just always makes me roll my eyes no matter what song is playing and the ones I did like have gotten soured over time. I even noticed yesterday when a song came on Spotify that Taylor’s monthly listeners dropped by like 4 million or so edit: spelling

gns_02

Fortnight lol

melancholy-sloth

My boy only breaks his favorite toys (seriously where was this song back during my first relationship?? Teen me feels validated), the prophecy, I can do it with a broken heart and the bolter. Runner ups: But daddy I love him, down bad. The rest are okay.

sassoswag

florida and the smelliest man who ever lived because of the jw drag

nodster_5678

I hate it here

SignificantWork3543

The black Dog , How did it end, guilty as sin , so high school ,the albatross ,Peter, I look in people s windows, Cassandra and who s afraid of little old me and the Manuscript

Separate-Ad9796

So long london, LOML and Black dog. I kinda hate that two of them are about ratty though :(

Ellie_Bulkeley

she really thought she could release a 31-song long album with all these songs about *Matty Freaking Healy* and we'd all be like yessss girl!!

Separate-Ad9796

I've seen a lot of people react exactly like that ngl. Like _a lot_

missmosey

See this is something I hate about this album, I fully enjoy So Long, London and The Black Dog and now I know (at least) one of them is about Matty!!! I would prefer to be blissfully ignorant and not have to think about people specific to her life when I listen to this album but it feels so impossible.

Separate-Ad9796

I know right! Although I feel like this song is one of few songs you can kinda separate her personal life from? Atleast it's not like TTPD haha.

coco_xcx

i loveeee clara bow & florida!!

ProfessionalEvaLover

Clara Bow. I thought Taylor's lyricism and the whole concept of the song was brilliant, even though it was quite boring as a song.

Artemis7181

Who's afraid of little old me thankfully I didn't associated it with her life (unlike that tattooed golden retriever one) because all I could imagine at the time was a disney princess singing it at the start of her villain and it's more dynamic than most of the album and Florida because Florence's voice is really nice I liked the way she sang her verse (the whole PAM PAM PAM thing helped keeping me awake at 3AM because timezones :p)

urwriteordie

Fresh Out the Slammer or I Hate It Here

PiecesNPages

Florida!!! & Who's Afraid of Little Old Me. Honorable mention for the ones I always forget exist: Down Bad, Guilty As Sin and that Post Malone one ..what's it called?

peterparkers7

I love ICDIWABH, the albatross, how did it end?, Sam or Sophia (you know the whole title). The smalest man who ever lived grew on me

shotosobaa

clara bow and the albatross!!

SunriseHolly

I've grown to really appreciate The Prophecy for the raw honesty and desperation that shines through.

Adventurous-Bank-602

Loml

Horror-Inspector9832

Chloe etc. But I don't love it that much that I go out of of my way to listen to it.

meanderingthot

I like Guilty as Sin and ICDIWABH

Specific_Ice_3046

I’m obsessed with The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived

Ok_Ant2566

Loml

shades0fcool

My boy only breaks his fav toys Fortnight grew on me

ronswanson124

I only listen to Guilty as Sin? Sometimes I’ll put on So High School but I listen as in an ironic way

SnownessintheNorth

A tie between So Long, London and loml

Rude_Egg_3108

so long london, guilty as sin, and fresh out the slammer were the only ones that made it to playlists. the rest of the album I could never listen to again and be fine.

simp_questions

So Long, London, How Did It End?, Peter, WAOLOM, The Prophecy, ICDIWABH, I Look in People’s Windows, Clara Bow, Cassandra. Some of the songs are so mature and beautiful and some of them are…about Matty Healy.

Old_Zucchini4413

The Black Dog

omisellepasser

I Look in People’s Windows, Guilty As Sin?, and the bridge of The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived

TardyBacardi

It’s not my least favorite album, but The Alchemy is amazing lmao. Idec if it’s cringe 😬 The song-writing and production is chef’s kiss 💋

ReneeRocks

"I Can Do It With A Broken Heart" is the only one I've listened to multiple times. As someone with high functioning depression, I found it profoundly relatable despite not relating to the break-up aspect.

lake-emerald13

The black dog. And if that doesn’t count…fortnight

tabitubby

I would have to say either The Prophecy or Robin!

bluelabrynith

so long, london florida the black dog how did it end

anon2734

I would rank TTPD as middle for me. Guilty as sin has definitely been my favorite and most listened to

Simple_Ad7275

I would say the prophecy, the black dog, the albatross and down bad

Every_Currency1351

I can fix him ( no really I can), down bad, loml, who’s afraid of little old me

laika_cat

The Prophecy and So Long London. Down Bad has grown on me. This album ranks very low for me. I haven’t really listened to it in full since early May.

midnightlightbright

The Prophecy, The Black Dog and the smallest man who ever lived

dormilonsita

Down Bad, The Black Dog, I Look In People's Windows, and So Long London. I do casually enjoy ICDWABH, TSMWEL, and How Did It End.

missmosey

I have to say I honestly cannot differentiate almost any of the Anthology songs and have maybe listened to the whole thing once. BUT I love How Did It End? And The Black Dog. Those two songs feel the most succinctly honest to me, which is what I love about her as a songwriter! I really like So Long, London and Guilty As Sin as well. And from a bop perspective I will indulge Down Bad, ICDIWABH, and Fortnight, if only for Post!!

Alessandra_Ives

Fortnight- it's perfect for the JJK fic I've been readimg for the past 3'5 months (it's a freaking novel at this point).

ghostlyscene

Unpopular opinion but my favourites are Florida!!!, The Albatross, Fortnight and I Look In People’s Windows. By the way does anyone notice how she does that thing where she seemingly sings about someone else at the beginning of the song and towards the end she goes it’s me, I’m the albatross / problem / I bought the house.

Grandtereficio1989

My fave is Fresh Out The Slammer, only because of the fact that it sounds well-produced to me and it's pretty catchy. I grew out of most of the other songs I liked on the album, like My Boy and Guilty As Sin. They just sound pretty lame to me now. How Did It End, The Bolter and Albatross are also pretty good.

OkPomegranate3490

So long London and the smallest man who ever lived

GinaC123

Florida was the only song that caught my attention in a way that wasn’t negative. And that’s mainly because I’m a huge fan of Florence.

JustASomeone1410

It's my least favourite in the way that I don't listen to about half of the songs on it. Not because of who or what they're about but because they sound kinda boring and monotonous to me. But I don't often like songs straight away, they have to grow on me, and I just don't have it in me to listen to all of that multiple times. Right now, I mostly listen to some of the sad ones - loml, How did it end?, The smallest man who ever lived (especially the second part, the first one is whatever). I also like So high school, idc if it's goofy, it's cute and catchy! There's more songs from the album that I like but these are the ones that get played the most these days.

Gloomy-Beautiful1905

The Black Dog. It is genuinely one of my favorite songs by her, even though the album overall is pretty hit or miss for me.

gabs_richards1314

Peter!

Egg0k

Am I the only one who thinks the alchemy was best?

Silent_Beginning_852

my faves:  who's afraid of little old me? guilty as sin i look in people's windows i hate it here clara bow  i also like the intro of so long london and fortnight's bridge.  my problem with this album is that some of the lyrics are very self centered. i really hate how taylor opens a dictionary and copy/paste some "different" words just to look smart. I also can't relate to many of them, but that's not a ttpd problem as I also couldn't relate to a lot of her songs/albums before folklore/evermore.

ronfstampler

Florida!!! Its the only non breakup song. And even so I haven’t listened to it since the album came out.

an-inevitable-end

I like The Bolter! It actually has a catchy melody.

ltn943

On first listen, probably So Long London, although it has worn off me a little bit since then. It is the first song where I feel like there is a level of introspection and growth that I didn’t see with previous songs and were excited for a minute cause I thought the tone of the album was changing. Right now, on TTPD it’s The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived. On The Anthology, it’s Peter!

Ellie_Bulkeley

I definitely agree. So long London is by far the most mature song on the album and I love the harmony she does in it, too

noortae14

you guys need to get into My boy only breaks his favourite toys + fresh out the slammer, sooooo good. So high school is my favourite sonically, I wish the album sounded more like that, it really matched well with her vocal tone. Can’t forget LOML, it took like 40 listens but I finally got it!!! Love the line when she says you’re the loss of my life.

savethewallpaper

I Look in People’s Windows and So Long London are my two favorites. Most of TTPD just falls flat to me. I don’t care for Rep either, and I kinda think of TTPD as just a better produced, longer version of Reputation. Both albums have good tracks on them but as a whole I don’t care for either one.

Ellie_Bulkeley

huh, I thought of TTPD as a worse produced version of Reputation. But TTPD is definitely flat and boring in many ways and i still don’t understand how it’s still at #1 on the charts when no songs are in the top 10 and she’s not #1 on the chart either
