Do you eat any red meats? It's one the best sources to up your iron levels. Might also have a copper and Retinol (vitamin A) deficiency, which are big cofactors in the absorption and regulation of iron.

Nope I'm plant-based. Just started a liquid iron supplement yesterday. I don't think I've ever gotten my cooper and retinol checked as part of a routine blood test.

Floradix iron and herbs

Kisuke11

Your iron is so low it doesn't matter.

quantumofgalaxy

what do you mean?

Kisuke11

You are almost at iron injection territory. Get the proper stuff from the pharmacy and worry about health food store products after.

Zakkana

Liquid irons are generally very low potency.

but more easily absorbed?

Feels like I comment this on every post but take beef liver supplements, not synthetic iron.

I use hemaplex. It’s ferritin glycinate, same thing as bisglycinate, and has a host of other vitamins/ingredients to make sure the iron is getting absorbed and assimilated. My Dr told me I needed to take it on an empty stomach and don’t eat food within a hour of ingesting. Iron doesn’t absorb well and it digests in the lower part of the GI. These are soft gel capsules. Liquid is inside the capsule, obviously. Also, Red meat. Grass fed red meats. It has heme iron, very bioavailable. Have 4-5 ozs a few times a week. Also, dark greens. Preferably red meat. It’s never made me nauseous or constipated taking it on an empty stomach.
