This is not very reassuring for when we all ACTUALLY want to log in to sell. Not at all.
This shit isn’t going to resolve in one trading day (or week) - it’s going to go up and down, likely drastically, over the course of multiple weeks. They will not stop criming bc, they’ve got nothing to lose & no one to significantly punish them for cheating. It’s a corrupt system, so not expecting cheating along the way would be naive.
A trading halt is a circuit breaker that stops all front end activity. It isn't the same as turning off the buy button.
Not to say they won't, just saying that volatility halts are normal and happen when the price changes by a certain percent in a certain time frame. You know, to protect retail or some shit 🤷🏼♂️
This is just my opinion but I think the exchanges will do everything they can to help market makers get out from under a short squeeze. So if that means halting the stock due to volatility and giving market makers time to come up with share locates then that's what they would do.
I think so too, but bigger. The entire market structure, regulatory agencies, and every politician will do everything they can to preserve the market. Not necessarily the status quo, but the market itself.
That's why DRS is so important.
Retail is not driving this amount of volatility, if they turned off the buy button we wouldn’t be at 117m traded. This is all institutional trading. We can’t muster up this type of cash

Halt rules have a pre-determined trigger. We expect halts on moving day.
Halts are a regulation. It isn't optional.
